Sophie Habibis was voted off ‘The X Factor’ last night. The 19-year-old barmaid landed alongside Misha B in the bottom two, and after an emotional sing-off – which saw Sophie perform a rendition of The xx’s ‘Shelter’ – all four judges unanimously decided to keep Misha in the competition.
Sophie’s mentor Kelly Rowland – who delivered her verdict via speaker phone from Los Angeles after being struck down with a mystery throat infection which prevented her from appearing on the ITV1 show this weekend – said: “This is so hard because I know how bad you both want this.
“But I know that one of you wants it more and I have to be completely honest. The act that I’m sending home is Sophie.”
With Tulisa Contostavlos, Gary Barlow and Louis Walsh also voting Misha through to next week’s show, Sophie – who was supported on stage by guest judge Alexandra Burke – looked shell-shocked to hear she would be leaving the competition, but vowed to continue singing.
