Marc Jacobs took a brave move with the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer collection, ditching the LV monogram for the first time ever and instead focusing on the design houses’ 124 year old Damier check.

Set against a minimalist escalator filled back drop Jacobs showed off these check with French conceptual artist Daniel Buren’s distinctive stripes to channel a swinging 60s geometric extravaganza.

Bold checks rendered in acid brights, pale grey or stark black and white, appeared on slinky dresses, crop tops, and peddle-pusher trousers giving a nod to the Mary Quant era, while Beehive hair and eyeliner completed the look.

However, Jacobs didn’t rely on the tiny mini skirts and bold prints to gain him acclaim also ordering the most miniature sequins ever produced and adding them to the trademark check to really make it stand out.
