Karl Lagerfeld, , the creative genius at Chanel, showed his support for the legalisation of gay marriage in France yesterday by sending two models down the catwalk in couture bridal gowns.
A perfectly planned grand finale, the veteran couturier also had his youngest muse, three-year-old Hudson Kroenig – the son of long-term Chanel muse, Brad Kroenig – accompany the models as they walked down the aisle catwalk holding hands.
Speaking to the Associated Press, Lagerfeld : ”I don’t even understand the debate. Since 1904 (in France) the church and state have been separate,” and that all religions should tolerate gay marriage. That said, perhaps a bit strange, Lagerfeld has said he opposes allowing gay couples to father children born through artificial insemination.
French President Francois Hollande plans to legalise gay marriage and thus allow same-sex couples to adopt and conceive children.
