Highstreet VS Deigner: Max C and Chanel

Comments (0)

Max.JPGHigh street stores are becoming more style savvy, creating clothes and accessories, which almost mirror those designed by high end brands.

Yes the fabric may not be as plush, and they are probably more prone to wear and tear, but, unless they're classic wardrobe must haves, do you really need anything more? After all fashion changes so quickly.

So we were really pleased when we spotted this Max C bag, which is similar to Chanel's quilted bowling bag. We would be more than happy to have this stylish high street alternative on our shoulder especially when you consider the whopping price difference.

Max C comes in at a very reasonable £40 compared to Chanel's £860. Leaving us more than enough left over to get matching shoes and outfits.

Chloe.jpgThe economic climate may still be continuing to create problems for us and our wardrobes, but we've found something that may help, especially if you have designer clothes you want to sell.

Chic & Seek is a new website that helps those of us who don't have the time to post items up on Ebay or set up car boot sales by offering a collection service and doing the photography, advert uploads and postage to the buyer for you. Contact sell@chicandseek.com or 020 7229 4308.

And those of us who want to spend some cash can also find some great designer bargains on the site. We've just had a scout around and fallen in love with a pair of flat Christian Louboutin's, going for £85 and this cute casual Chloe top with rushed neck line for £70.

Get the look: Cheryl Cole's bobble hat

bobble.jpgWe know many celebrities wear fashions way above our financial scope and we always try to give you similar highstreet styles to match. However it seems we're not alone in our quest with VoucherCodes.com joining in on the get the look for less bandwagon.

The money-saving website, which offers vouchers, promotional codes and exclusive discounts for some of the country's biggest brands has tracked down a similar version of Cheryl Cole's cute and cosy bobble hat.

And it's giving customers a 50% discount off the £8 item, which is available at New Look. Not bad considering her original Aubin and Wills hat cost £49 (we're sure you could have bought a whole sheep for that.)

But that's not all the website is also offering readers a whopping 20% discount code, for the New Look too. Log onto Vouchercodes before 30 November to ensure you're not left out in the cold.

Zandra.jpgSeventies and hippy style chicks will be as excited as we are to hear that legendary fashion designer Zandra Rhodes has launched another collection for Marks and Spencer.

The seventies style creator has returned to the highstreet store for another season after the success of her first collection and we predict this range, which includes batwing tops, revamped 21st century jumpsuits and velvet and suede fabrics, will do just as well.

We'll see you at the checkouts.

Aldo.jpgDo you ever wish you could be one of those girl's who steps out with kooky clothes and boots that no-one else has?

Yes there's many ways to do this but unless you're a creative patient type, it can sometimes go a bit wrong. That's why we're so excited about Aldo's new shoe range.

The highstreet retailer has launched its DIY collection, which lets you customise your shoes with with studs, straps, chains and accessories meaning you'll never have to worry about having the same pair of shoes as anyone else.

Plain boots and shoes in the range start at £60 and separate customisation kits start at £5. But you can't really put a price on individuality can you?

Karen millen leather.jpgLadies who want to be clad in leather this season should hot heel it down to Karen Millen this season.

Why? Because the the highstreet store has launched a capsule collection of must-have leather and sheepskin separates.

The range includes classic styles to more risqué bodycon styles and you can expect to find whip-thin trousers; as well as a range of asymmetric layered skirts.

The company has also designed a range of jackets for this collection including a fitted pewter frill-edged jacket and updated its signature biker jacket comes in various styles to suit everyone.

Those who want to carry off the Cheryl Cole look will also love the suede Harem Pants.
Each item is also individually designed and crafted in the in-house atelier, where talented craftsmen work with the designers to draft patterns, hand cut samples and sew each piece by hand.

However, there's bad news. Only 500 pieces are being made for each item. We suggest you grab your bike and zoom down there as quickly as possible but be warned; we'll be fighting tooth and nail to get our hands on some of these lovely leather pieces.

Barbie.jpg
New Look is taking us right back to our childhood this month.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of our favourite childhood toy, the high street store has launched a range of Barbie merchandise, which includes make up, nightwear, underwear (yes really) and a cute kitsch watch.

And those who preferred the male doll to this pretty princess will also be pleased to know there's a range of Ken merchandise to get dolled up in too. We love this 80s style Ken T-shirt (below), which comes in at a very reasonable £12.

Tesco finally makes clothing available online

Tesco.jpgWe're not going to rabbit on about how much we love online shopping because if you're a regular reader you'll know how passionate we are about it.

However, what we will be talking about, at least until the weekend, is the fantastic news that Tesco has added fashion to its huge online range.

From today we can pick up the supermarket's well known clothing brands such as the gorgeous Florence and Fred and Liquorish, while filling up our kitchen cupboards.

We love this gorgeous satin skirt with a flattering side pleat and for £40 it's a definite must have for your winter wardrobe.

Just make sure you don't mistakenly pack these clothes away with your fridge stuff. They may look good enough to eat, but we think they'd look much better on.

Fame.JPGWith the remake of Fame hitting the big screens, we know were going to be seeing alot of 80s fashions creeping back in.

Live forever and pay tribute to the 80s movie that fueled a generation of leg-warmer-clad dancing wannabees with these Fame tees and sweaters from Truffle Shuffle.

Featuring a silhouette print of the 1980 movie logo, whether you're a fan of the original film, the TV series or even the latest movie, it's the perfect way to ensure you'll never forget Leroy, leotards or those flying splits.

Prices start from £20

Jil Sander teams up with Uniqlo

jil.jpgIt's always nice to wear the same designer fashions that celebrities like, but there's always the problem of money.

After all many of us can't afford the £1000 plus items celebrities wear.

Until now that is. Jil Sander whose designs have graced the bodies of Katie Holmes and Diane Kruger has teamed up with highstreet shop Uniqlo to give us poorer fashionistas an affordable range of clothing.

The capsule collection includes a tailored grey wool coat and purple mac as well as a slightly puffed skirt. There are also skinny jeans, a blazer and miniskirt. We'll you by the tills.

We've just been talking about bridesmaid dresses that can be worn again and again over on our wedding site Bridalwave, and now we've found something that you fashionistas can also do the same with.

This gorgeous dress is perfect for us cash strapped girl's who can't afford to update their wardrobes every weekend.

The limitless dress', by Emami, can be worn in a minimum of 30 ways as itcan be changed into a variety of different shapes and styles, including halterneck to strapless and to the more complicated maxi or jumper dress, to a halter-neck top or harem pants. You can even wear it as a poncho. In fact there are so many ways to wear this frock that the company has put together a range of videos to show you how. Have a look below for the first one.

At £99.99 it's not a bargain but if you wear the dress for the minimum 30 times then that's not really too bad is it.

Asos Louise Hub.jpgWe've been talking about affordable fashions as an alternative to the designs being shown at London Fashion Week and Asos has once again come up trumps.

Our favourite online store has just launched a collection from a range of up and coming British designers.

The Hub collection is made up of fifteen clothing and accessory designers and includes From statement dresses and jackets, to drawl worthy accessories, and not forgetting a selection of loud leggings.

Designers include Swash, Florian and Scott Wilson, all displaying fashions that will keep us going into the Winter season and beyond.

We love this V-Neck Draping Dress by Hub designer Louise Amstrup and the even better news is that there will more designers adding to this gorgeous collection in the near future.

QS brings us some affordable shoe fashion

Thumbnail image for TASSLE SHOE 16 QS.JPGWith London Fashion Week being on the forefront of my mind this week, I almost forgot that we girls also need some affordable highstreet fashion to keep our winter wardrobes stocked up until spring/summer 2010.

Cue this cute tassel shoe with a bow for tying from QS.

At £16 we guess it's not real suede but they're an excellent piece to have, matching jeans, dresses and also trousers.

And if you want to add a little bit of high street chic into London Fashion Week you could also wear them to one of the shows.

Paparazzi Asos.jpgA girl can never have too many bags can she?

And it would be wrong not to be able to have one that all the latest celebrities have been sporting, especially if it's an affordable price right?

ASOS has come up trumps again stocking this ironically named Paparazzi bag, which has been spotted under the arms of celebrities including Kim Catrall, who wore this little beauty on the set of the new Sex and the City film, and Rihanna.

I think this bag is gorgeous and as it's in a multitude of colours will instantly brighten up our winter wardrobe.

And at a bargain price we don't really need to justify this purchase to the other half, bank manager or parents.

Log on to ASOS now to bag yours before they get snapped up.

Get the look: Katie Price's retro cartoon T-Shirt

Katie P Oscar.JPGI absolutely love the retro cartoon look T-Shirts that have been gradually growing in popularity for the past two years.

Not only do they remind me of my childhood but are also a good way to wear casual t-shirts without feeling underdressed.

However it seems as though I'm not the only one to have fallen for this trend. We have spotted a number of celebs wearing these too including Katie Price.

I love this Oscar the Grouch top, which reminds me of my childhood Sesame Street days and the best thing about it is we can also get our hands on it. It's £24.99 and it's from Truffle Shuffle.
