ShinyStyle watch: Lara Stone’s shoot for Louis Vuitton

By Andrea Petrou on January 13th, 2010

Ever wondered how a big ad campaign comes together? Well take a look at this video with behind the scenes footage for Lara Stone’s shoot for Louis Vuitton.

It was only last month we showed you the gorgeous pictures of the star who took over from Madonna as the face of the brand, and many of you agreed she looked stunning.

We love seeing how a shoot comes together from the selection of clothing to the hair and make-up and, in this case the birds. And we promise this video does not disappoint.

First looks: Megan Fox models Armani SS2010 underwear range

By Andrea Petrou on January 12th, 2010

Megan 1.jpgIt was way back in October when we reported that Megan Fox had replaced Victoria Beckham as the face of Armani’s SS2010 underwear range.

Even then we knew these pictures would be sizzling, and now we’ve seen them, we know we were right (don’t you just love that?). Megan 2.jpg

However instead of the sexy shoot we were expecting, these ads show a far more demure side to Megan, who poses in one of the shots in a cute black and white stripped set. We can’t wait to see the rest of them.

“Megan is young and sexy and has a lot of spirit. Both Emporio Armani Underwear and Armani Jeans are all about a youthful attitude, making her the perfect choice for the collections,” said Giorgio Armani.

Fashion brand St. John drops Angelina Jolie in favour of Karen Elson

By Andrea Petrou on January 8th, 2010

Karen.jpg

She may have been voted as the woman many of us would like to look like in a Superdrug poll, but the year seems to be going downhill fast for Angelina Jolie.

According to WWD, the actress has been dropped from luxury fashion label St.John in favour of red head model Karen Elson (left).

Glenn McMahon, chief executive officer at St.Johns, said Ms Pitt “overshadowed the brand.”

He added: “We wanted to make a clean break from actresses and steer away from blondes and cleanse the palette.”

Although Angelina has been fronting the brand for a good few years it seems the partnership between her and the company has always been a little bit rocky.

Back in 2007 two new designs were said to have been made especially for the actress following claims that she was unhappy with some of the current designs she was contractually meant to wear to events.

We think the phrase “shot yourself in the foot” may ring true here Ange.

Gallery: A timeline of fashion adverts dating right back to the 1700s

By Andrea Petrou on January 7th, 2010

From as far back as we can remember clothing ads have always featured beautiful models and most recently celebrities and over the past few months we’ve covered a range of ad campaigns featuring these.

However, it got us wondering what people used to do to promote their clothing and brands way back when the words “celebrity” and “models”, along with cameras hadn’t even been invented.

We therefore decided to do a bit of research into the world of clothing adverts dating right back to the 1700s (yes fashion has been going all the way from then, and perhaps beyond) to now and have put together a time-lined gallery of some of them.

We’re sure you’ll be as surprised as we were by some of these vintage ads.

Salvatore Ferragamo uses original supermodel Claudia Schiffer for its SS2010 campaign

By Andrea Petrou on January 7th, 2010

Claudia.jpg
With so many celebs, actresses and new models fronting designer’s ad campaigns it’s sometimes hard to ever remember iconic supermodels such as Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford.

That is until we spotted Salvatore Ferragamo’s SS2010 campaign. The brand has gone right back to 80s basics opting to use original supermodel Claudia Schiffer for its shoots.

We love the soft and serene 50s styling of the model, who poses for one of the almost angelic pictures, shot by Mario Testino, in this white dress.

Claudia, you may be a little bit older than the rest of the ad campaign faces heard but we think you’ve definitely still got it.

First Looks: Georgia May Jagger for Versace SS2010

By Andrea Petrou on January 6th, 2010

Georgia 1.jpg

Last year was a big one for ad campaign announcements.

We saw Lara Stone taking over Madonna’s place for Louis Vuitton and Madonna filling the gap for D&G and we managed to get a sneak peak of both of these last year.

However one shoot we’ve been waiting for ever since we reported about it back in November is Georgia May Jagger’s campaign for Versace and we’re pleased to say it didn’t disappoint.

The campaign shot by Mario Testino, bears a similar resemblance to Lara Stone’s shoot for Louis Vuitton, with Georgia, styled like Brigitte Bardot lying in a range of different poses with different bags.

Emma Watson poses alongside her brother Alex for Burberry’s SS2010 campaign

By Andrea Petrou on January 6th, 2010

Emma Watson.jpg

There’s something magic about Emma Watson, and were not talking about her role in Harry Potter. It seems everything she touches, is a success and this time the spell has fallen on her younger brother Alex Watson, who has made his modelling debut in Burberry’s spring ad campaign alongside Emma who will be fronting the brand for the second time.

According WWD, chief creative officer Christopher Bailey met Alex through Emma, and “loved their dynamic, their brother and sister energy,” so he decided to take a chance and use him in the campaign.

We think the brother and sister duo cut striking figures against the 18th-century townhouse theme, and its clear this year’s womens trends are set to continue along the lines of big shoulders.

The campaign also features musicians George Craig and Matt Gilmour, the son of Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour, and Max Hurd, a grandson of Douglas Hurd, Britain’s foreign secretary under British Prime Ministers Margaret Thatcher and John Major.

Britney Spears poses “in various stages of undress” for Candies for Kohl’s ad campaign

By Andrea Petrou on December 17th, 2009

Britney Spears.jpg

It’s been a tough couple of years for Britney Spears. However if these pictures for a Candies for Kohl’s ad campaign are anything to go by it seems that 2010 could be very successful for her.

Posing in skimpy swimwear Britney shows she’s shed the fast food body (which was rumoured to have been accelerated by a dose of lipo) and it seems, her product endorsement and singing career may also be back on track.

Shot by renowned photographer Annie Liebovitz, Britney, according to WWD, was snapped “in various stages of undress.”

We hope the campaign also helps Annie, who was on the verge of bankruptcy this year after unpaid bills, mortgages on several luxury homes and tax liabilities crippled her finances, climb right back up to the top.

Madonna’s ad campaign for Dolce and Gabbana SS2010

By Andrea Petrou on December 16th, 2009

Madge.jpgEarlier this month we gave you a sneak preview of Lara Stone’s ad campaign for Louis Vuitton, which picked for the model over previous face of the brand, Madonna.

However, not to be out done by her successor, pictures of Madonna’s new ad campaign for Dolce and Gabbana have also emerged.

We’re sure you’ll agree that despite the age gap, and completely different styling, Madge looks just as good as Lara and it shows why she was picked up so quickly by the brand.

In fact we think this campaign shows a much softer side to the singer than her previous Louis Vuitton stint.

First looks: Lara Stone for Louis Vuitton

By Andrea Petrou on December 9th, 2009

Lara Stone for Louis Vuitton.jpgWe’ve been really excited about seeing Louis Vuitton’s SS2010 campaign ever since we reported that the designer had ditched Madonna in favour of younger model Lara Stone.

And it seems the waiting has paid off. Lara, really gives the brand a completely different look, posing in various outfits amongst grass and leaves and really making it feel fresh and alive. Sorry Madonna but we don’t think this is a look you could have pulled off.

Speaking about the brands new model, Antoine Arnault, Vuitton’s communications director, said: “After two seasons with such a huge star, Marc [Jacobs] decided to take a breather and work with a model – and not just any model. It’s the choice of a new supermodel.”

We can’t wait to see the rest of the images.

The Sugababes model purple scarves in aid of Fight Cervical Cancer in Style

By Andrea Petrou on December 3rd, 2009

sugar-babes-1259795690.jpgThe Sugababes have teamed up with a range of designers to raise awareness about cervical cancer.

Heidi Range, Amelle Berrabah and newest member of the Sugababes, Jade Ewen, will front the Fight Cervical Cancer in Style campaign. They have also modelled a limited edition purple Fight Cervical Cancer in Style scarf designed by Amy Molyneaux and Percy Parker of British fashion emporium PPQ.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Heidi Range said: “Having performed at Jade Goody’s wedding, cervical cancer is a subject we feel passionately about. We are proud to be supporting the campaign as it is important that girls and women realise how they could catch the virus that causes cervical cancer, as well as the steps they could take to reduce their risk.”

And now for the medical bit.

Many women believe that cervical cancer is hereditary, however, almost all cases are caused by a common virus called HPV (human papillomavirus). The virus can be passed on through sexual contact, therefore girls and women are at risk as soon as they start having intimate relationships. The virus is usually cleared naturally by the immune system but sometimes it persists and could lead to cervical cancer.

Currently, eight women are diagnosed with cervical cancer and nearly three women die of the disease every day in the UK. It’s the most common cancer in women aged 20-29 and the second most common cancer in women under 35 years old. It is therefore important that girls and women are made aware of the risks of cervical cancer and the best ways to reduce their risk, including a healthy lifestyle, cervical screening and vaccination against HPV (human papillomavirus).

We think this is a fantastic cause and will definitely be buying one of the scarves to show our support.

Peaches Geldof poses in undies for Ultimo while Elen Rives does the same for Tesco

By Andrea Petrou on December 2nd, 2009

Peaches.jpgIt seems we won’t be the only ones wearing matching lingerie this Christmas, with a range of new ad campaigns featuring celebs, hitting the market.

Peaches Geldof who is now the face of Ultimo’s Miss Ultimo line, showed off her fun and funky side posing on a merry-go-round in a range of Christmas lingerie numbers.

We love the playful styling, which includes bright coloured stockings and bows. However we think her daisy chain tattoos may be going a step too far.

Peaches said: “I’m honoured to be chosen to represent a healthy body image – and what better way than with Miss Ultimo’s designs, which are sexy, young and quirky.”

Meanwhile, across the highstreet pond, Tesco has just announced that ex wag Elen Rivas will be doing her first ever lingerie ad campaign for its Diamond Boutique range.

The former fiancée of Chelsea and England footballer Frank Lampard, has kicked off her modelling debut posing in a range of purse friendly lingerie for the Christmas collection, which comes comes in sizes 32A to 38D for bras and 8-18 for briefs and includes fabrics such as silks, satins and lace.

elen-rives- tesco.jpg

Elen said: “Diamond Boutique delivers everything a designer brand should. The designs are elegant, stylish and fit to perfection. What’s more, even if you buy the entire collection you won’t feel guilty as it’s so easy on the pocket. I wear the range every day, whether I’m off to the supermarket or glamming up for a night out.”

Terry Green, CEO of Tesco Clothing, said; “The new Diamond Boutique Christmas collection is incredibly luxurious, but continues our focus on value with prices starting from just £7.00. Elen is a great signing for the brand and proves that budget lingerie can look just as good as expensive designer lingerie.”

The new collection is available from Tesco stores nationwide and online.

Daisy Lowe fronts Esprit’s SS2010 collection

By Andrea Petrou on December 1st, 2009

Daisy.jpgDaisy Lowe’s week seems to be getting better and better. Not only has she been nominated as Model of the Year at this years British Fashion Awards but she’s also been snapped up as the face of Esprit’s SS2010 range.

The daughter of singer Pearl Lowe and Bush front man Gavin Rossdale, was shot by photographer Barnaby Roper in a car cemetery just outside LA, and we love the casual clothes Daisy is modelling.

Daisy is also joined by Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, the daughter of French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld who will front the Espirit’s casual collection.

Lily Allen shot by Karl Lagerfeld for Russian Elle magazine

By Andrea Petrou on November 30th, 2009

Rumours about Lily Allen leaving the music industry have been lingering around the gossip scene like the smell of milk left out of the fridge for too long.

Despite Lily not making them official, she has furthered fuelled the rumour fire by making her name for herself in fashion, most notably her partnership with Chanel.

So we’re hardly surprised that she appears in Russian Elle Magazine next month styled top to toe in the designer’s creations. The shoot was also shot by none other than Lily’s new BBF Karl Lagerfeld.

Again, we think she looks stunning in natural make-up and a range of outfits including a striped top, ruffle shirt and tight blazer.

Lily Cole poses for the December issue of Canadian Elle

By Andrea Petrou on November 27th, 2009

Lily.jpgLily Cole is the kind of girl we love to hate. She’s stunning, brainy (not anyone can get into Cambridge Uni) and got to star alongside Johnny Depp, Jude Law and of course the late Heath Ledger in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

However, no matter how envious we are of this little starlet we can’t deny she doesn’t look absolutely amazing in this photoshoot for the Canadian issue of Elle Magazine.

Shot by renowned photographer Rankin, Lily looks striking in a Louise Sorrentino dress accessorised by a scarf (which looks to us like a big ribbon) around her neck.

Some girls really do have it all.
