Doo.Ri to do more affordable line

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on December 9th, 2008

Doo Ri.jpg

Perhaps designing those white shirts for the Gap gave designer Doo-Ri Chung the bug for budget fashion, because she’s launching an as-yet named affordable extension line in the next year.

“I have been thinking about this for a really long time,” Chung told WWD. “Within my own collection there is a great need to have a wider price range. A second line allows me to do that.”

The line will focus on what Chung is known for – jersey, draping and feminine silhouettes – featuring patterns similar to those in the main collection.

Matthew Williamson fans may want to save some of that Christmas cash for his H&M line

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on November 25th, 2008

matthew williamson hm.jpg

Hot off the (internet) presses comes the news of the latest H&M designer collaboration. The Swedish retailer is teaming up with Matthew Williamson for a collection which will hit selected stores next April and will launch nationwide in May.

H&M Creative Advisor Margareta van den Bosch said: “Matthew has such a good eye and a way for working with prints that he mixes up in a new way. When he combines these things, you get a very contemporary London look. It’s for people who want to look special, but his clothes can also be worn in a nonchalant way- you can really play around with them. He is fantastic with piling on colour – it’s a very stylish collaboration for H&M, and very much in line with the way we’re thinking about fashion for spring/summer,”
The collection will include men’s and women’s clothes and you can bet it will feature the luxe kaftans whch Williamson is renowned for.
