By Andrea Petrou on December 10th, 2009
British Fashion Awards - Red Carpet Arrivals

Celebrities, models and fashion designers were out in their droves last night to celebrate the 25th annual British Fashion Awards.

The event, which we we’ve been excited about since we reported the shortlist a few weeks ago, took place in London’s Royal Courts of Justice and this year played host to more British designers than ever before.

As we would expect, it was also attended by Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham and Claudia Schiffer as well as one of our favourite designers Matthew Williamson.

Christopher Bailey the Collection of the Year award, while model de jour Georgia Jagger scooped Model of the Year and there was also good news for Kate Moss who won the public voted London 25 Award.

There was also happiness from Grace Coddington who was given the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator and Katie Hillier was crowned Accessory Designer of the Year.

We also think a huge congratulations are in order for Burberry, which won Designer Brand of the year and Christopher Bailey who was awarded British Designer of the Year.

During his acceptance speech, Bailey also revealed that Burberry would display creations during February’s London Fashion Week: “London is our home and our global headquarters, and we are thrilled to be showing again in this, our magnificent and creative city,” he said.

By Andrea Petrou on December 1st, 2009

Daisy.jpgDaisy Lowe’s week seems to be getting better and better. Not only has she been nominated as Model of the Year at this years British Fashion Awards but she’s also been snapped up as the face of Esprit’s SS2010 range.

The daughter of singer Pearl Lowe and Bush front man Gavin Rossdale, was shot by photographer Barnaby Roper in a car cemetery just outside LA, and we love the casual clothes Daisy is modelling.

Daisy is also joined by Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, the daughter of French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld who will front the Espirit’s casual collection.

MTV Movie Awards 2009: Red carpet round-up

By Kimberley Foster on June 2nd, 2009

From Catwalk Queen’s Isabelle...

Much excitement at the MTV Movie Awards last night, with a bewinged Sacha Baron Cohen landing on Eminem’s lap causing an almighty furore from the rapper and his entourage. In the more genteel world of fashion there were plenty of well-dressed stars at the bash.

Rumer Willis
sported an appliqué-ed green frock which complemented her hair, and Hills star Audrina Partridge wore a shimmering coral gown. Sienna Miller combined the two, in a green sparkling outfit from her Twenty8Twelve label. Cameron Diaz, although casually dressed, looked stunning in a leopard print top, jeans and violet boots.

White the stand-out trend on the Oscars red carpet

By Andrea Thatcher on February 24th, 2009

You’d have to have a black and white TV not to notice how many white dresses there were on the red carpet for the 2009 Academy Awards. Of course you can check out all our Oscars coverage here, but we’ve also got a new gallery of all the white dresses. From the positively bridal Penelope Cruz in vintage Balmain to my personal favorite Marisa Tomei in Versace Atelier, you could see a lot of these dresses walking down the aisle. Plus, pre-spring is the perfect time for a white trend to emerge, don’t you think? We know you can’t wait to get all tan and whip out some white. So check out our gallery, below, and tell us which Oscar dress you’d wear in your wedding in this poll on our bridal blog.

We’ve brought you loads of Oscars coverage so far, but we’re not done yet. Following some close looks at the frocks as they hit the red carpet, here are some of the ones you may have missed, including surprise attendee Reese Witherspoon in stunning blue Rodarte, Jessica Biel’s double-whammy of fashion don’ts, and my personal fave Tina Fey breaking out of her black rut.

Oscar Fashion 2009: Evan Rachel Wood in Elie Saab

By Andrea Thatcher on February 22nd, 2009

Evan Rachel Wood collage.jpg

I love when actresses dress for formal occasions to show off their tattoos, so think this shot of the back of Evan Rachel Wood’s dress is pretty rock and roll. But, the dress itself was a bit tame, if beautiful. Not a lot of risks on tonight’s red carpet! Wood is wearing Elie Saab, with Stuart Weitzman shoes, a Sergio Rossi bag and Neil Lane jewelry. She also told Ryan Seacrest she was wearing Benefit perfume, teehee.

Someone said after one of the previous awards shows that she is going to regret wearing so much makeup when she was young, because it really ages her, and I think that rang true tonight as well. Just because your boyfriend wears a ton of makeup doesn’t mean you have to, honey.

Oscar Fashion 2009: Anne Hathaway in Armani Prive

Catwalk Queen’s Kim Foster writes…

Despite some average red carpet appearances lately, Anne Hathaway glimmered in a strapless cream gown from Armani Prive’s S/S 2009 collection. The Oscar nominee not only gets our thumbs up for this look, but also for her singing/dancing opening number with Hugh Jackman. Economy woes weren’t a factor here, Anne traipsed out in more than one million dollars worth of Cartier jewels. Yes, really.

Oscar Fashion 2009: Marisa Tomei shines in Versace Atelier

By Kimberley Foster on February 22nd, 2009

From Catwalk Queen

Opting for this season’s favourite style – the one-shouldered dress – was Marisa Tomei. Designed by Versace Atelier the soft grey satin and organza gown worked a treat on The Wrestler actress, who admitted that the film “was a difficult movie to make.” She matched her look with a pair of satin open-toed heels and bling from Van Cleef & Arpels.

Oscar Fashion 2009: Natalie Portman in pink Rodarte

By Andrea Thatcher on February 22nd, 2009

Natalie Portman Oscars.jpg

I really, really hope this is the beginning of seeing more Rodarte on the red carpet. And an auspicious start it was. Natalie Portman was perfectly appropriate for a presenter’s role – fashionable without being overdone. Ever the vegan, she also wore Stella McCartney shoes (always animal friendly), a vintage Rialto clutch and Kwiat jewelry. She stood out in what I think was the only pink dress on the carpet, but kept things simple and classic. And of course was hilarious with Ben Stiller on stage.

Oscar Fashion 2009: Kate Winslet in Atelier Yves Saint Laurent

By Andrea Thatcher on February 22nd, 2009

Oscars 2009 Kate Winslet.jpg

From Kim at Catwalk Queen…

Will it be Kate Winslet’s night? While we wait to see if ‘our’ Kate will nab her first Oscar, here she is arriving at the Kodak Theatre earlier. Dressed in a one-shouldered steal-grey Atelier Yves Saint Laurent gown, it mixed things up with an embroidered mesh panel. Make-up and hair was flawless and with jewellery toned down, she added a Chopard bracelet and earrings. Overall, it was a simple and sophisticated look, but will it be the dress that sees Kate written into the history books?

Oscar Fashion 2009: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in Elie Saab

Catwalk Queen’s Kim Foster writes…

HOT COUPLE ALERT! We spot Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie smiling for the paps and looking sharp as always. Typically, Angelina chose a simple black draped, strapless gown by Elie Saab and clutch. But the Oscar nominee did add a touch of colour with a whopping emerald ring and earrings by Lorraine Schwartz.

Oscar Fashion 2009: Best Supporting Actress Penelope Cruz in vintage Balmain

By Andrea Thatcher on February 22nd, 2009

Penelope Cruz.jpg

Seriously, what’s cooler than Balmain? Vintage Balmain. Penelope Cruz had her eye on this vintage piece for eight years and finally decided now was the time to wear it. I can’t help but fear that she stole some girl’s wedding dress out from under her, but glamorous, glitzy white gowns are the trend of the 2009 Oscars. Cruz won the Best Supporting Actress award for Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

Oscar Fashion 2009: Sarah Jessica Parker dazzles in Dior Haute Couture

Catwalk Queen’s Kim Foster writes…

Sarah Jessica Parker left mouths gaping when she hit the red carpet tonight. Dressed in a stunning strapless mint green Christian Dior Haute Couture customised gown, the Sex and the City star stuck close to hubby, Matthew Broderick. Loving the soft wavy hair and make-up. Did you notice the lack of bling?

Oscar Fashion 2009: Freida Pinto

By Andrea Thatcher on February 22nd, 2009

Freida Pinto Oscars.jpg

Like her film Slumdog Millionaire, Freida Pinto is the true Cindarella story of the 2009 awards season. She has struck us every time with her beauty and intelligence, but unfortunately has yet to truly strike us with her fashion. Tonight we were glad to see her in something a little brighter and a shape inspired by her home country. But her blue John Galliano gown wasn’t as youthful as we would have liked. She wore Jimmy Choo shoes, Judith Leiber bag and a Martin Katz ring featuring a 150-year-old vintage diamond from India.

Oscar Fashion 2009: Can Heidi Klum do fashion wrong?

By Andrea Thatcher on February 22nd, 2009

Oscars 2009 Heidi Klum.jpg

Catwalk Queen’s Kim Foster writes…
Have we found our first fashion faux pa at the Oscars? Heidi Klum raised a few eyebrows in this ill-fitting bright red structured RM by Roland Mouret gown. Red has been a favourite on the red carpet so far, but I’m afraid not even this thigh-splitting number could save this supermodel tonight.
