While we were watching the Grammy’s last night, the U.K. was celebrating their own night of stars with the British Academy Film Awards. Some Americans were over there, too, like Marisa Tomei and Sharon Stone, represented in the gallery below.
With the likes of Kate Beckinsale, Miley Cyrus, Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson out in their best dresses last night, it’s surprising that a virtual fashion unknown has made the headlines this morning. The name on everyone’s lips is that of Lebanese designer Basil Soda, who stepped in at the last minute to dress Katy Perry when her alternative (custom-made) dress failed to live up to expectations. If the only star in one of his gowns last night was Paula Abdul, we probably wouldn’t have gushed so much, but with Perry’s pastel pink dress making all the best-dressed lists, this is one designer we’re very excited about!

Ruffles were all over the Screen Actors Guild Awards red carpet, with stars like Marisa Tomei and Teri Hatcher, above, taking part in the trend in a big way. Like the girlie appeal but don’t have a formal fete ahead? Well this dress from BCBGMaxAzria is a great way to interpret the red carpet look for everyday.
The Screen Actor’s Guild Awards are officially underway, but we’re still focusing on the red carpet. There were some beautiful dresses (we’re expecting headlines like white hot! and citrus style!) but overall we’re a little underwhelmed. What do you think? Check out our gallery (and more to come!) and tell us in the comments.

It looks like the television stars were told to arrive at the Screen Actor’s Guild awards early, so we’re still waiting for a lot of the big movie nominees to step out of their limos. So here’s what a lot of TV’s loveliest ladies are wearing and a few movie stars too!

We were disappointed that when Blake Lively chose Nina Ricci she didn’t pick one of the more dramatic cutaway front dresses from Ricci’s runway. But apparently Blake was more disappointed that she might not be a size 0.
A Gossip Girl costume department worker let slip that they had to cut the sizes out of any samples that weren’t a size 0. It actually kind of looks like Lively might have been better off going with a 2 in this dress. When you’re one of the hottest girls on TV, who cares what size you are? Own it, Blake!
We’ve showcased a few trends from last night’s Golden Globes for you, including pastels, belted dresses, and dark clors. But now it’s my turn to show you what I just plain loved.
Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange were clearly already in character for the turn as Big Edie and Little Edie in the remake of Grey Gardens last night at the Golden Globes. Here, in one of their more lucid red-carpet interviews, they discuss making the film.
Dark hues may have been the choice for many starlets, but the Golden Globes were also awash with pastels too. Anyone might have thought it was spring by the way some celebs wore their pretty pale colours. Nudes, soft pinks, pale yellows and blues dominated as the likes of Angelina Jolie, Drew Barrymore and Salma Hayek took their turns in front of the cameras. [Photos: Jim Smeal/BEI/Rex Features]

One thing’s for sure, black wasn’t boring on the red carpet at tonight’s Golden Globe Awards. These three ladies stunned, shimmered and sparkled in dark, dramatic gowns. Evan Rachel Wood chose a different, tiered silhouette shot through with silver sequins and accessorized by her charming tattoo. Anne Hathaway wore a navy blue Armani Prive gown and simple earrings for a very classic, very old school Anne look. We knew Amy Adams (seen here with Darren Le Gallo) would be one of our favorites when we first saw her in the strapless Oscar de la Renta applique gown.
Reem Acra dressed a bevy of ladies on the red carpet of the Golden Globe awards, including Olivia Wilde (House), Rumer Willis (Miss Golden Globe) and Eva Longoria, above. Wilde’s and Willis’ dresses are a bit similar, the same purple color family even. But Eva Longoria really stands out in a more structural red gown.
