Kate Middleton in Denmark

Kate Middleton showed us once again that Royal style doesn’t have to cost a fortune.

The  Duchess of Cambridge travelled to a UNICEF relief centre in Denmark with hubby Wills’, to visit workers supplying aid to famine-hit Africa.

However, instead of going for a designer number Kate turned to her trusty highstreet friend opting for a scarlet L.K. Bennett Ami coat, which costs £276. She teamed this up with a matching leather belt and knee-length suede boots and completed the smart look with her trademark wavey locks.

Marlene Birger Cropped Burgundy Sweater

Yay, that time of the week has rolled around again when I get to do my absolute favourite post – my weekly wishlist of dream fashion buys. This week I’m focusing mainly on Autumn/Winter essentials for those pieces that will make your wardrobe perfect for the new season.

What I want most in the world right now is the perfect jumper for this season – something in a jewel colour in a soft, snuggly fabric that I can wear with absolutely everything. I was lucky enough to come across Marlene Birger’s cropped burgundy sweater, which just looks so soft and fluffy that I want to rub my cheek against it. It’s expensive, at over a hundred pounds, but maybe the perfect jumper is enough of a classic to make the investment a smart one.

Another item very very high on my wishlist is Oasis’ leather skater skirt, which is just so perfect I could die. It will go with pretty much everything, whether you want to wear a T-shirt and flats or a pretty blouse with heels. If I get it I’m just going to have to remember to not overdo the sex-pot look with the rest of my outfit – the last time I wore double leather I found myself attracting a lot of trouble.

The piece that has to get the hot top-spot this week, however, has to be Asos’ fur collar coat in a leopard print. I’m totally loving the girlish look of collared coats at the moment, especially with a smidge of faux fur to add extra glamour. After all, no-one wants to look drab in the winter time, do they? That would be just terrible.

Bow Pleated Soft Shift Dress

I absolutely love putting together Shiny’s fashion hot-list for the week, because for me it is basically an excuse to go window-shopping and compile a mental list of all the things that I want, nay, need the most. This week the hot-list is a merry mash of different prints, textures and styles – but did you expect any different from me?

I’m in a bit of a “back to school” mode this week which is looking towards Autumn and the weather getting colder, so I’m daydreaming about new tights, new knitwear and new bags to put all off my books in. I was especially taken with Oasis’ dreamily soft-looking pale pink tea dress with a sparkled collar detail, which is so like the Marc Jacobs design that it’s untrue. That dress is going on my list, along with a chunky cardigan and some cute ankle boots to go along with it.

My ultimate buy for the week? It has to be the Sam Edelman slipper shoes from Urban Outfitters. Slipper-style loafer shoes are massive this Autumn because they spell luxury and comfort, and you can’t get any more luxurious than this designer pair, which is covered in black gemstones and studs. So delightfully rock and roll.

Warehouse Multi Silk Bird Print Dress

I don’t know about you, Fashion Week lovers, but for me one of the ultimate highlights of the Autumn/Winter shows was Miu Miu’s 30s and 40s inspired collection of wrap dresses and coats. And it seems that celebrities feel the same way as I do – everyone wants to get their hands on the collection’s key piece, the elegant bird-patterned wrap dress. Hailee Steinfeld and Michelle Williams have already been papped wearing dresses from the show. You can get the real deal (pictured left) and shop the collection at Net-a-porter.com  if you’re a squillionaire, but sadly most of us aren’t.

Why do I love Miu Miu’s Autumn/Winter bird printed dress so much? As a lover of vintage fashion and designs that celebrate the female shape, this dress ticks every single box to me – I love the Oriental vibe of the shimmering birds against sultry dark fabrics, which combined with the classic twisted tea-dress shape give a wink to old Hollywood glamour.

To own the real thing is the dream for me – but until then I will happily settle for Warehouse’s gorgeous high-street version, priced at £65, which is extremely similar to the designer version. Black Chelsea Girl Peter Pan Jumper

It’s time for a round-up of Shiny’s dream buys for the week! I’m starting my fashion illustration degree in September and I’ve got serious fashion nerves at the moment; whenever I look at my wardrobe I feel like I’ve got nothing to wear (which is definitely not true, but sadly this is the way a compulsive shopper’s mind works).

So I’ve been scouring the high-street sites for the past couple of weeks mentally compiling a shopping list that I thought I’d share with you- this week I’m inspired by the “eccentric granny chic” look that Givenchy brought to the catwalk, which means quirky jumpers, layerable midi dresses, lavish costume jewellery and clashing prints. Basically, a look that is really fun to put together.

My ultimate star buy of the week is Topshop’s faux fur leopard-print coat, which is oh-so-sixties and will look amazing with a plain tunic dress and opaque tights. Check out the gallery for this week’s top picks from the high street.

If you’ve got a fashion crush on Michelle Obama but think you’ll never be able to afford her style, then we’ve got some great news for you.

As we reported yesterday the First Lady visited South Africa for a meeting with Nelson Mandela bringing with her an impressive wardrobe consisting of her staple long coat and waisted belts.

However, she also had a little high street lovely snuggled in her closet and that came in the shape of this printed sleeveless oversized shirt from the Asos Africa collection, which she wore to play with South Africa’s children.
And the best news is that it’s only £35 meaning you don’t need a Presidential salary to afford it. We advise you get it now before the buying frenzy begins.

Graduated stripe dress

We’ve gone slightly stripe crazy over at Shiny towers this arvo and we’ve only got Store Twenty One to blame.
The low priced store has come up with a range of striped lovelies to kick start the summer offering colour blocks, nautical stripes and of course the breton look.
And it’s not just t-shirts, with dresses, beach bags and even shoes getting a stripy transformation.

Unlike many stores the range is also nicely priced meaning if you can’t decide on the one item then you can stretch to two or three, depending on how nice your boss and bank manager are.

Khaki military dress £45 down to £17

The only good thing about January are the sales, which are great for picking up a bargain and keeping your purse as well as your wardrobe happy.
This year there’s a huge number of clothes and shoes on sale, and although we’d like to flag them all we’re not sure we’d finish by the time the spring/summer stock came in.
The key thing to consider when shopping in the sales is whether the style will last into next autumn or if it will be suitable for the spring.

For example a short sleeved white dress won’t do for now but will be perfect for the spring, when this trend hits the highstreet as will the maxi dress. Here’s our top five must haves which will keep you kitted out until at least next autumn.
