UK label Modernist made their runway debut during London Fashion Week. The designers behind the label, Sierra Leon-born Abdul Koroma and Brit Andrew Jones, formed the brand in September of 2005 for the Fashion Fringe competition, held every year in England and showcasing four emerging talents. The ready-to-wear collection consisted of neutrals in nylon, tulles, and even swim wear jersey, some bare midriffs made an appearance, and the lines were Grecian meets sportswear. The line is available at Ahn Ann in New York City at 961 Madison Ave.

This Ruby Rox jewel-detail dress is a great find for the season–just $43.90! The jewel accents are very on trend as far as a touch of shine goes for fall and winter. And I really like the light layering at the bottom–that and the longer cut in the back create elegant appeal. So go ahead, look stunning for those special occasions in this sexy, but classy little black dress.

Zac Posen has been the “it boy” of the fashion world since making his runway debut at the Gen Art Fresh Faces in Fashion show in 2001. This blue gown stood out even amidst numbers of other show-stopping dresses. Even among turquoise pleats, ruffles, and layers, the dress showed off model Liya Kebede’s fantastic body and reminded one of the rippling Mediterranean Sea, a perfect inspiration for summer.

For Balenciaga’s fall 2007 ready-to-wear collection, Nicholas Ghesquière created worldly, wearable pieces with influences ranging from Bali to upper-crust England. Before his collection debuted in Paris, Ghesquière explained, “It’s a big mix—a street mix, with symbols and colors that are very multicultural.”

It may not be all that remarkable to find a denim mini for $20, plus an extra 20% off if you act before Friday, but it is when the skirt is from J.Crew. Unlike the mini you got for the same price at Deb Shop, this one will probably last you forever. You know, until the next time mini’s come around – assuming you’ll still have the legs for it. This Cowboy denim mini sits lower on the waist with an A-line shape and traditional five-pocket styling. It really will go with everything from preppy looks to rocker tees, so I’d scoop it up.
