The red carpet is getting full – full of fabulous TV divas in fabulous dresses. Everyone’s gone pretty glam this year, with very few short dresses – one of which worn by Amanda Walsh, above right. Kate Walsh is taking a darker approach to the red dress trend, in Pamela Dennis, above left, and at center Debra Messing is one of the few stars in classic Ralph Lauren black and white. It’s a really nice, classic choice on her – she’s got the red covered in her hair.
Naturally, E! has been showing red carpet arrivals and coverage since about 2 p.m.,with Giuliana Depandi and Ryan Seacrest, plus Carson Kressley and Kimora Lee Simmons doing too sparse fashion commentary. I guess personally I kind of wish they’d cut out Ryan Seacrest and Kimora Lee and just let Giuliana interview people and Carson be hilarious, but you take what you can get.
Katherine Waterston, the female star of The Babysitters, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival this week, was outfitted in a tight black dress with amazing chunky silver jewelry–quite a departure from her on-screen persona as buttoned-up, gone-awry Shirley. She was a blast to talk to, including about her preparations for the role. Katherine clearly knows a little black dress is the answer to everything, especially with the right accessories. Find silver like Katherine’s at www.estatejewelryinternational.com for a bargin price!
Since Caravan brings a variety of designer fashions to their customers at their homes, hotels, or offices with Caravan Mobile, it seems only fitting that they bring a variety of designers from around the world to their fashion week presentation. It was a real change of pace and exciting opportunity to see a lot of different designer’s pieces – like Vivienne Westwood, Social Atelier, Loomstate, Edun and more – all in one show. Plus, it was one of my only chances to see menswear this week, and I saw an actress from two of my favorite teen dramas! Keep reading to find out who!
I was wondering what Carmen Electra was doing at Fashion Week. Usually she pops in for a few shows and she’s gone leaving nothing but memories of her tiny sculpted body behind. This year Carmen was hosting Full Frontal Fashion on Vooms Ultra HD channel. The show was taped each day from the Bryant Park tents and featured a 2 hour rundown of the day’s highest (or lowest) points. From interviews with designers to backstage access, Carmen was there to take us through the glamorous and not so glamorous moments. Although Fashion Week is over, the show will air on the Dish Network through September 15th.
It was a dark and stormy night at the Toronto International Film Festival for the world premiere of The Babysitters. The movie was twisted and sultry–go see it! Afterward, I got to chat with some of the actors, including John Leguizamo and director David Ross. I also got to chat with Lauren Birkell, a hot starlet in the making and one of the female leads, not to mention one of the nicest people I have ever met under the klieg lights. Lauren wore a sexy V-necked navy silk dress from Catherine Malandrino’s Pre-Fall collection. She looked amazing! Lauren prepared for the part by ‘acting bitchy in the mirror.’ You can find Catherine’s collections at Neiman Marcus and also at her Web site.
Socialite and less-annoying Hilton sister Nicky made her New York Fashion Week debut on Sunday, September 9th with her newest line Nicholai. Sitting in the front row were her beaming parents, hip-hop impresario Russel Simmons, and the ever-shrinking porn superstar Jenna Jameson. With Jameson in the front, the classiness of the line was already put into question before the lights even dimmed. When the models did finally come out, they sauntered down the runway in shiny Palm Beach-style clothing.
This year’s VMA show was a horror. All I have to say to Britney is “yikes!” But forget the music–the most highly anticipated part for me is who’s hot and who’s not and of course, what they are wearing. For me, the biggest disappointment was Jennifer Garner. Generally she looks radiant in some floor-length vintage Valentino or Michael Kors gown. I wasn’t really impressed with her flapper-ish mini dress. I’m sure the idea was to dress a little younger, so she’d be a bit more MTV-friendly, but I think she could have given us something a little more stylish! I think she went the safe route. What do you think?
Ever since being spotted by a fashion editor for Sassy magazine and capturing the attention of author Jay McInerney (who wrote a seven-page article on the unknown girl for The New Yorker), Chloe Sevigny has been the darling of the fashion industry. Known for her daring sense of style, she spent time as creative director of vintage-retooled label Imitation of Christ. Now, Sevigny is stepping back into the world of design, creating a capsule collection for Opening Ceremony with store founder Humberto Leon and “friends.” Her collection will debut during Fashion Week, today, September 10th.
This black and white Chanel glass beaded necklace mixes the dark mysterious look of Tahitian pearls with the innocent, classic opulence of white pearls. It features the signature interlocking Chanel C’s in black and white enamel. Lindsay Lohan and Jessica Alba are spotted wearing this chic Chanel look. Costume jewelry never looked so good!
Check out Agyness Deyn at Fashion Week in NYC. She is a British model and also the current face of Mulberry along with fellow Brit Karen Elson. I love her hot pink dress and her hair is amazing. Let’s be frank, not many people can pull off the platinum blonde, supper messy, rocker chick hair without looking silly. I would love to know who makes her dress…anyone know? Otherwise, I’ll have to do some research.
I love the classic Alhambra Necklace by Van Cleef and Arpels. It’s classic, yet trendy. You can wear it to the office and out to a hot new restaurant at night, and it’s available in a multitude of colors–from pink mother-of-pearl to turquoise to shiny red enamel. Cameron Diaz and Reece Witherspoon wear this great little clover necklace for maximum star style.
Does your cockapoo party like a rockstar? Then get her this shirt that proudly proclaims “I Party Like Kate Moss” by Pupparazzi. The FIT trained dog fashion designer behind the line, Davey Makeout, says that his dog clothing line is what a really fashionable girl would wear. I have to agree. If your party animal is as fashionable as you, get her this cute top that shows what a party girl she is.
Seriously, I’ve had just enough of Britney Spears. She has ZERO style. First off, the dress, which barely covers her chest, is a hiddeous color for her. There is no contrast with her skin tone making her look kind of sickly and drab. The exposed pink bra straps can sometimes be cute but just not in this situation. I can barely see the boots, but I’d bet they are very wrong, the red bag is medicore and the hat is cute but the pairing together is where it all goes south for me. And to top it off she’s wearing sunglasses–hellooooo!!! It’s dark out! She has all the resources to look good, I just cant figure her out. Who the heck is her stylist? And is she out to lunch permanently? It’s possible that Britney needs more of an etiquitte coach than fashion advice, but she needs something fast. She takes the cake in my book for Miss Twenty-something Fashion Disaster.
