Last night a few stars came out in Beverly Hills for the opening of the Elie Tahari boutique in Saks Fifth Avenue – Kristen Bell, Marcia Cross, and Stacy Keibler all walked the red carpet. We think we might have actually preferred Kristen Bell in something a little more fun and flirty, a cute dress perhaps? The high-necked, long top seemed to overwhelm her small frame. Stacy Keibler seemed a bit overly demure and covered-up as well – is there a fall chill in sunny California or what? Marcia Cross, however, was spot on in a sparkly, dressy number. Continue reading for some looks similar to those worn at the event.

In his latest edition of Barneys Babble, Simon Doonan teases us with the knowledge of whether Kate Moss has a corner office or lowly cubicle at the Topshop head office in London. He never gives us the dirt on that question, but says Kate, shown here at the Kate Moss for Topshop Barneys New York launch, is very popular with Topshop employees (gee, go figure) and that she tries on every design for her line herself. Apparently she comes in weekly for meetings and goes on coffee runs for workers, which is nice since they’re probably chained to their desks working on her stuff while she can flit in and out as she pleases.

The Daily Mail, a British newspaper, has reported that Barneys is marking up the price of items in Kate Moss’s Topshop collection. Flare jeans that cost £50 ($100) at Topshop cost $158 at Barneys. The Daily Mail predicts American shoppers may begin flying over to the UK for better shopping deals if this trend continues, the way UK shoppers have been hoping over to our side of the pond for years because clothing has traditionally cost less for them in America since the pound is currently stronger than the dollar.

Stacked wooden heels are high on the list (pun very much intended) this season to go with wide-leg trousers and other menswear inspired get-ups. Sister site Shoewawa.com reported on the fabulous pair from Yves Saint Laurent this season, a rounded pale wood heel paired nicely with a pointed patent leather toe, available at Barney’s and Barneys.com for $640. Christian Louboutin makes a fabulous wooden heel pump as well, sold at a rent-busting $735. If you’re not into sitting on a street corner holding a cardboard sign, try the J Shoes Oakley oxford pumps (right), available for $150 at shoes.com.

We get our Topshop fix where we can here in the US, not to mention our Kate Moss fix. Luckily, Barney’s Co-Op supplies both with new Kate Moss for Topshop arrivals in a monochromatic black-white-gray color palette. I’m not quite as excited about these pieces as the original collection, I prefer a bit more color in my wardrobe, but Kate Moss acolytes will surely be pleased. The cropped leather biker jacket, $375, is clearly a standout piece. The scarf top, $55, and deep V dress, $160 are chic staples for any model wannabe.

I am a huge boot fan, so whenever the weather starts to cool off, I try to pick up a few new pairs. Not only are boots are great way to turn an average outfit into a complete look, they’re also more comfortable than pumps and the knee-high ones are great for covering up your legs, whether you’re too lazy to shave or they’re just your least favorite body part. For knee-high boots, try a pair of gray Melinda boots (left), only $80 at Bakersshoes.com. Gray is super in this season, so match them with a gray chunky knit sweater or scarf. For a more dressed up look, go with this pair of Michela boots (right) from Aldo for $180. The shiny silver zipper reminds me of the exposed zipper dress seen on Chloe’s fall runway

While the Neiman Marcus 100th Anniversary catalog floats through your hands this fall, don’t forget to take note of the limited edition luxe items gracing those glossy pages. The year calls for celebration with exquisite taste, and designers including Giorgio Armani, Manolo Blahnik, and Gucci have created limited-edition products to honor the event. If you’re looking for a way to freshen up your wish list this year, take a look at the birthday favorites (above and at the jump) available in-store and online (for a limited time, of course). Saks Fifth Avenue unveiled its expanded designer shoe department this August, inviting shoe enthusiasts to browse with ease on a floor that reportedly has its own zip code. The flagship store in New York City is dazzling shoppers with attractive displays—over 100,000 designer pairs in inventory—along with luxe amenities such as private shopping appointments, rotating pedestals, and plenty of space to try on a few (dozen) pairs at your leisure. It’s a trip to shoe heaven for any well-heeled enthusiast, and you’ll find more than just the average collections at this ritzy emporium. Accessories and refreshments await on the eighth floor—from Dior to Christian Louboutin—it’s too soon to tell if you might need a traveler’s map to find your way around.

If you’re anything like me, you mostly venture into Lord & Taylor for a bonus gift event at your favorite makeup counter, an end-of-season sale on Ralph Lauren sweaters or a Christmas gift for your grandmother. But the mid-range retailer is looking to get you in stores and on their Web site more often with a $10 million image campaign. The overhaul is more about branding the store as a more modern destination for classic fashions than getting you to buy one specific item, according to WWD, and they swear they’re not trying to go too young and hip.
