It seems that we have taken it upon ourselves today to become your credit crunch fashion fairy Godmother because we’ve found something that will save you even more money this season.
BragItUp is a recently launched website that lists the week’s top ten fashion finds available on the web.
Ok, we can hear you thinking that’s not really anything new, but be patient and we’ll explain.
Every item that goes onto this site has to be discounted by a minimum of 40% of the original price and preferably be from a top designer, brand or store.
We had a scout around today and spotted some Christian Louboutin’s with 60% (no it’s not a typo) off, a Leona Edmiston dress down from £310 to £50 and Jimmy Choo sling backs £142 from £475. See we told you this was good.
The site is updated every Thursday and you can also sign up to receive free weekly emails, which shows the deals as soon as they go live on the website. Don’t say we don’t ever do anything for you.
With internet fashion becoming so popular, it seems online fashion stores are launching faster than you can say Chanel.
However, we’ve completely fallen in love with this new internet shopping heaven, that popped onto web yesterday.
The Stellar Boutique is bursting full of one-off gems and includes, vintage, retro and high fashion pieces and includes designs from up and coming creators including Sugarhill Boutique (we love the butterfly dress, pictured) Lia Lee and Dahlia.
But it’s not just clothes, oh no, this site offers everything apart from the kitchen sink. Get your hands on home ware, accessories such as sun glasses, and menswear (perfect if you need to sweeten him up when he sees all your purchases.)
If you want to stand out from the fashion crowd and get your hands on designs by someone who could possibly be the next Tom Ford, then get yourself onto the Asos website sharpish.
The shopping site, which keeps us up until all times of the night uming and ahing over the latest dress, is now stocking Laden Showroom an independent boutique previously in Brick Lane.
So why are we getting so excited about this boutique? Well the shop stocks a huge range of up-and-coming British designers, many of whom then go on to be big names.
We love the Renne London button batwing dress, priced at £48 and the Flamingo Fade Print Jersey Babydoll Dress, which will add a bit of 70s tie dye magic to your clothing collection.
However, we get the feeling these won’t last too long, so get typing fast.
Love them or hate them there’s no denying that sheepskin Ugg boots are a must have every year.
However, there’s a new kid on the block and it’s looking like it may become leader of the pack (or flock.)
If you’re a fashion girl that doesn’t like to follow the herd, then these Kau Boots will heat up your heart as much as they do your feet. Why? Because, the company claims that every pair is completely different as they are made from individually hand selected hide.
And it doesn’t end there. Kau offers three different heights and seven colour options including black leather, mainly brown, brown and white and black and white. You can also pick from three different linings and two different soles.
Those that want to make their boots that extra bit special can also opt for the tailored option, which means getting arty by drawing around your feet and sending it off to the company. And the best thing is it will only set you back an extra £20.
Shopping via your mobile is about to get a whole lot more exciting thanks to the new Net-a-Porter iPhone application. Launched in London yesterday, NET-APP allows you to browse and buy clothing, shoes, handbags and accessories straight from your iPhone or iPod.
It is updated twice a week with the latest products, you can also read the weekly magazine, email friends and add favourite items to a wish list. It is free and available now to download from www.itunes.com/appstore. As if I needed another reason to shop? See a demo above.

Nothing sums up 4th July more than this Catherine Malandrino American flag-print dress. The designer considers this dress symbolic of her breakthrough in the USA, and even wore it at the end of her Spring 2009 catwalk show. Since then it has been seen on everyone from Heidi Klum to Kelly Ripa. The dress is still available from Catherine Malandrino’s online boutique for $450.
Models including Lily Donaldson and Lily Cole have put their faces to a new breast cancer awareness campaign “Fashion Targets Summer Fridays (FTBC)”. The initiative encourages us all to buy the Ralph Lauren-designed FTBC polo shirts, and wear them to work on Fridays. They retail for $55 each and are available from Net-a-porter. Proceeds from the T-shirts will go towards Susan G. Komen for the Cure and other FTBC-supported organizations. So, what are you waiting for? Grab yourself a Ralph Lauren polo and help the cause.
Diane von Furstenberg, who has strived for copyright inclusion as part of her role as CFDA president, has settled out of court after being accused of improper copying. DvF will now pay the designers of Mercy of Canada an undisclosed sum and will stop using the copied jacket design. Some might recall that the garment was actually pulled by Whitney Port on The City for the March ’09 cover of Elle.
“While this is an isolated incident for DVF, it is unfortunate that way too many others intentionally build businesses by stealing the work of other designers,” von Furstenberg said.
Calvin Klein is in hot water yet again after a provocative billboard for its womenswear and menswear jeans line was unveiled in New York this week. The racy ad which depicts a young female semi-naked model lying across one man and kissing another has caused uproar amongst appalled Manhattanites. However CK designers are at a loss to see the problem.
“It’s my favorite campaign ever!” said CK menswear designer, Italo Zucchelli. “I hope they’re going to be, ‘Ooooh, what is that?’ And then they buy our jeans. In the best tradition of Calvin Klein.”
New York’s Lincoln Centre was the place to be last night as designers, models and other starlets gathered to celebrate the 2009 CFDA Awards. We’ve already brought you the list of winners – click here to get the update. So now, onto the red carpet arrivals. It was a celeb-fest with the likes of Doutzen Kroes wearing a flouncy Zac Posen frock, and Blake Lively, Coco Rocha and a preggers Heidi Klum supporting Michael Kors by wearing his clothes. When the First Lady of America met the First Lady of France…
Two of the world’s leading style mavens have come together again in honor of the D-Day landing memorial in Normandy. Dressed in matching cream ensembles, Michelle Obama opted for a nylon crepe dress by Narciso Rodriguez matched with a metallic belt. While Carla Bruni-Sarkozy went with her old favourite, Christian Dior, in a similar ivory frock, accessorized with a black skinny belt. Sadly, both ladies were harshly criticized by the press for choosing to wear pale colours at such a sombre event. I think this is silly, but more importantly – who do you think has the fashionable edge?
Have you checked out the The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion exhibition at the Met yet? Although you have until August 9 to visit the supermodels at the museum, Marc Jacobs is giving you one more reason to do so. He has created a specially-designed T-shirt to celebrate the exhibition. Available in red and purple, they retail for $35 each. The good news is that if you can’t make it to the Met then you can order your size online – woot!
I have very important news for all you recessionistas out there… the Net-a-Porter mid-year sale is still on, but not for much longer. For our US readers only, you can score up to 50% off on designer labels such as Chloé, Matthew Williamson, Fendi, Halston, Miu Miu, Christian Louboutin and many more. You really don’t want to miss out – so grab yourself a bargain now while you still can.
Victoria Beckham’s latest ad for Emporio Armani Underwear was unveiled yesterday morning at Macy’s in New York. The black-and-white 20-ft banner marks Beckham’s continuing alliance with Giorgio Armani and was photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. This time round, Victoria is sporting a braid extension and a trim physique, which she admits was the result of “a lot of running.” Jump through to see a picture of Victoria at the launch.
