We’ve been really excited about seeing Louis Vuitton’s SS2010 campaign ever since we reported that the designer had ditched Madonna in favour of younger model Lara Stone.
And it seems the waiting has paid off. Lara, really gives the brand a completely different look, posing in various outfits amongst grass and leaves and really making it feel fresh and alive. Sorry Madonna but we don’t think this is a look you could have pulled off.
Speaking about the brands new model, Antoine Arnault, Vuitton’s communications director, said: “After two seasons with such a huge star, Marc [Jacobs] decided to take a breather and work with a model – and not just any model. It’s the choice of a new supermodel.”
If you haven’t already noticed we’ve got a lingerie theme going on today, apart from our Global Cool story, which is quite the opposite but, we’ll sure your agree is for a good cause.
So what better way to round up the theme with a sneak preview and video of Sonia Rykiel’s boudoir-inspired lingerie range for H&M.
We might have just got over the huge Jimmy Choo range for the highstreet store, but, as we all know fashion moves on as quickly as your other half when he spots the huge diamond ring you’re ogling at in the jewellers window.
The launch of this range was held last night at Paris’s Grand Palais for an extravagant show to unveil Sonia Rykiel’s the range. And what a launch it was. The fairytale themed show complete with a glittering Eiffel Tower, ferris wheel, swing set and cut-out trees strung with thousands of fairy lights, also featured Lily Cole, who held the reins of a giant moving horse head.
And it seems when the collection launches on Saturday, there may not be the mayhem we reported and timing complaints many of you told us about during the Jimmy Choo launch.
A spokesman for H&M told Grazia: “The Jimmy Choo launch was different because with accessories and shoes we gave people a specific area to try things on and limited numbers of product they could buy, but because this launch is a line of garments we don’t feel this is necessary, so there are no limits on what you can buy or try on.”
We can’t wait. View the video of last nights launch and click on the picture below for a sneak preview of the collection.
The economic climate may still be continuing to create problems for us and our wardrobes, but we’ve found something that may help, especially if you have designer clothes you want to sell.
Chic & Seek is a new website that helps those of us who don’t have the time to post items up on Ebay or set up car boot sales by offering a collection service and doing the photography, advert uploads and postage to the buyer for you. Contact sell@chicandseek.com or 020 7229 4308.
And those of us who want to spend some cash can also find some great designer bargains on the site. We’ve just had a scout around and fallen in love with a pair of flat Christian Louboutin’s, going for £85 and this cute casual Chloe top with rushed neck line for £70.
It’s that time of year again, Christmas, icy weather and most importantly the lead up to the British Fashion Awards.
And the shortlist for awards, which will be held on 9 December, has just been announced.
This year there are 11 categories, including Designer of the Year, Menswear Designer of the Year and the Swarovski Emerging Talent Awards for ready-to-wear and accessories.
Rosie Huntington Whiteley, Daisy Lowe and the new face of Rimmel, Georgia May Jagger will also be fighting it out of the model of the year category.
We really wouldn’t want to be in the judges shoes at the moment and think they’ll have a hard task choosing amongst the great talents out there.
This includes Burberry and Pringle for the designer brand of the year, Christopher Kane, Jonathan Saunders or Erdem for collection of the year and Mark Fast, and Meadham Kirchhoff and Peter Pilotto for emerging womenswear labels.
Caroline Rush, joint CEO of the British Fashion Council, said: “This year’s nominee list highlights the extraordinary breadth of British design talent.”
We can’t wait to see who comes out tops, but runners up, don’t worry, we’ll still be buying your fashions.
We know wearing a cycle or scooter helmet isn’t overly sexy and it can mess up your hair but that’s no excuse to go without, especially when you consider the consequences.
Ok, we’ll stop with the preaching now and tell you instead about a scooter helmet you won’t be making excuses to wear.
Karl Lagerfeld has launched, what we think is every princesses dream. First seen at the designers 2009 catwalk show, this little gem comes laced with pearls and also has iPod hookups.
It’s available now but, as always there’s a downside. Not only are there only 12 in the world but they also cost a whopping $1,805 to $6,837.
We’ve therefore put together a gallery of other fashionable scooter and cycle helmets, which you won’t be complaining about wearing.
Yesterday we told you about Prada’s way of standing out from the designer crowd by using a model instead of a celebrity and it seems other fashion houses have the same idea.
Paris designer YSL has today officially announced that Russian model Natalia Vodianova will be replacing (older) supermodel Christy Turlinton for its 2010 Spring range.
And that’s not all. It seems Natalie is also destined to deal with Stella McCartney and could front the stylish British brand after she made her only catwalk appearance in September for the label.
With so many high profile jobs under her tiny belt this is one model to keep an eye on.
It seems Prada has ignored other fashion houses high profile celebrity advertising campaigns and has decided to stand out from the star crowded craze by using a proper model to show off its Spring 2010 collection.
The brand has opted to use Lithuanian model Rasa Zukauskaite, who is no stranger to the brand or high end fashion.
The 18 year old walked the Prada Spring/Summer 2010 show along with Alberta Ferretti, Aquilano.Rimondi, Missoni and Moschino in Milan last month.
Lily Allen is no stranger to fashion creation and we imagine has the number of a few of those top designers in her little black book (or mobile phone).
So we’re hardly surprised that the singer has been snapped for next month’s Elle Magazine next to Karl Lagerfeld. Afterall she did help design the Coco Cocoon, an understated new collection of featherweight quilted handbags and travel accessories for Chanel.
We love the black and white contrast of this picture and as always Lily looks fantastic in tight trousers and ankle length boots.
We’re still reeling from the news that Luella has lost it’s financial backing, but it seems there may be some light at the end of the tunnel for bargain hunters.
Don’t get us wrong, we’re still really upset that the fashion world has, for now, lost such a talented designer, but we can’t help rejoicing the fact that the sudden collapse has bought on a mamouth Luella sale (we blame the credit crunch for our selfishness).
Many items online including purses, bags and dresses have been slashed by more than 50%, making this the designer bargain hunters sale of the year.
And to make up for our greed, we’re more than happy to join the Save Luella campaign on Facebook. We feel redeemed already.
Move over Madge there’s a new Louis Vuitton model in town.
Yes that’s right, Madonna, who has been the face of the brand for two years, has been replaced by pretty (not to mention younger) gapped tooth model Lara Stone.
Lara will be fronting Louis Vuitton’s S/S ’10 campaign, which will be shot by famous photographer Stephen Meisel.
We hope she’ll carry on where Madge left off and wear some key looks from the designer brand out.
We love H&M, not only does it bring us affordable fashions but has also teamed up with a range of designers over the years to bring us some high end styles without all the hefty price tag. We’ve not stopped thinking about the Jimmy Choo collection, which will arrive in stores next month.
But something that has taken our mind off it slightly is a sneak peak for the highstreet stores collaboration with Sonia Rykiel. If you’re a regular reader, you’ll know how excited we were when we announced her lingerie line for H&M last month so imagine what this has done to us.
Apparently the collection will include opaque black bras with flowers on the nipples. And see-through mesh panties with flowers on the bottom. Yes, we know, it’s a bit extreme but it fits the style bill as lingerie-as-outerwear will be the hottest trend next Spring.
Get your hands on some Jimmy Choo accessories without feeling guilty about spending.
The shoe designer has teamed up with the Elton John AIDS Foundation to create the ‘PEP-up Shop’ featuring a host of limited edition Jimmy Choo products, made especially for the project.
The event, which takes place at Selfridges from Friday 30 October, will only last for 72 hours (yes we’ll be queuing from dawn too), and will include exclusive products such as a cuff, ID-tag and a mobile strap.
And, as we told you before, you won’t need to feel guilty about spending as Jimmy Choo will donate 25% of the sales of the Project PEP capsule collection directly to the Simelela centre. This will give victims access to vital life saving treatments that have to be administered within the first 72 hours of exposure to HIV. We see it as giving our annual charity donation early.
And it doesn’t end there. The designer has also created website and is asking everyone to upload photos of themselves wearing their Choo’s, as part of a campaign entitled ‘You, Your Shoes and 72.’
Images will be showcased at the global launch of Project PEP at Selfridges and 100 of the best pictures will win products from the Jimmy Choo capsule collection.
We love Moschino, and for once it seems to love us back, well sort of.
The Italian fashion house has announced that it will launch a more affordable line of accessories, meaning us highstreet girls can get our hands on the brand.
The Love Moschino range, which includes tote bags, shoulder bags, purses and clutch bags in a range of fabrics will retail between £100 – £270 (not bag for a designer bag). We can’t wait to get our hands on one.
It’s good news for us internet shopping girls. Roberto Cavalli has just announced that he will be following in the footsteps of some of our favourite high street stores and will soon be selling his designs online.
The designer will be adding an e-commerce channel to www.robertocavalli.com at the end of November 2009. The store will take the world of Roberto Cavalli to 46 countries in Europe, the United States and Asia.
Starting with the Autumn / Winter 2009-2010 collection, it will include: Roberto Cavalli Men and Womenswear, Roberto Cavalli Watches for Men and Women, Roberto Cavalli Eyewear for Men and Women, Roberto Cavalli Pets and Roberto Cavalli Underwear for Men and Women.
The designer said: “I love challenges and freedom: working outside the box, experimenting in constantly different directions… this new challenge fills me with enthusiasm because I believe that internet represents the future and an unlimited source of surprises.”
To celebrate the international launch of this new online store, the first 500 shoppers will receive a free bag with the Maison Cavalli ‘signature’ prints, created exclusively by Roberto Cavalli. Get online quick ladies.
Unlike Lindsay Lohan, it seems Victoria Beckham most definitely made her mark at Fashion Week with sharp tailored clothing, that we, or any other fashion critics , can’t fault.
The pop star, Wag and all round fashionista, known better for her jeans range, showed off a range of tailored slinky dresses, which we’re sure you’ll agree are gorgeous.
However, to fit into these you’ll need to be small. We think that our gym membership may need to be renewed.
