The zoo is conscious to raise awareness about conservation and have recruited Rapanui – winners of the RSPCA Good Business Awards – to make bamboo t-shirts that are going to be sold alongside the visitor’s attraction to raise money and contribute to their upkeep.

Considering pandas are quite costly to keep, it is understandable that the Zoo wants to find other ways to raise money for the tubby two.

Bamboo is hailed as a fabric of the future with Mart Drake-Knight, co-founder of Rapanui and designer explaining: “Bamboo is an amazing fabric, it is as soft as silk but half the price, it grows fast without water, pesticides or fertilisers. Bamboo has a lot of potential as a sustainable textile, not to mention the softness and kind-to-skin properties that make them feel great.”

The Bleeding Love hitmaker – who has teamed up with Talenthouse to launch a competition for young fashionistas to submit ideas for a new environmentally-friendly stage outfit for her to wear – will now be accompanied on her mission to find a rival to Stella McCartney by both British designer William and UK Glamour editor Jo Elvin.

Leona said: “I’m extremely thrilled to be joined by Jo and William. They are two people who are leaders in the field of fashion and that I’ve had the privilege of working with before.

“They take this competition to a whole new level.”

With William having dressed the likes of Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss and Emma Watson throughout his career as a designer and Jo having overseen thousands of fashion shoots during her time at the helm of Glamour magazine, the pair will help Leona pick out a future designer of tomorrow.

The winning design will be brought to life by a team of professionals and Leona will wear the outfit during an upcoming performance later in the year.

She also choose two runners up who will have their designs featured across her website and social media sites and receive $350 each.

Entries must be submitted by November 17th, and the winner will be announced on December 1st.

The British designer and environmentalist – who is a vegetarian and refuses to use leather or fur in her creations – revealed the new collection will be made of more than 50 per cent natural and renewable materials.

She told WWD: “The greatest challenge was the amount of time that was spent on research and testing to get the best quality product possible with the highest performance in terms of resistance, while still maintaining the style and finish we always try to achieve.”

This is not Stella’s first sunglasses collection, she released a line in 2009 in collaboration with Luxottica and says it’s important to have fun with them.

She explained: “Women have two sets: a classic pair they’ll have forever, and a more playful pair. We’ve added that fun element to the line. ‘My mum had this mad pair with Christmas trees on them that I loved when I was little. Sunglasses are one of the only accessories that can really have a sense of humour. But you walk a fine line between looking like a complete idiot and getting it just right.”

Kelly Brook unveils PETA campaign

Kelly Brook unveils her campaign for PETA targeting the exotic skins trade on the eve of London Fashion Week in Covent Garden, London.

The 31 year old model was shot with a snakeskin painted onto her body by singer Bryan Adams for the animal rights group in order to highlight the cruelty suffered by reptiles that are killed for their skin.

Brook says: “It makes my skin crawl to think about the violent ways snakes, lizards, alligators and other exotic creatures are raised and killed for boots, bags and belts.”

Although it may not look like it, the summer is officially here. Over the past few weeks we’ve been giving you a huge range of summer styles to chose from but one collection we have missed out is of course the ethical and eco fashion trend.

As many of you know, this trend has become hot over the past few years with a range of highstreet brands introducing organic cottons and ethical Fair Trade collections. And celebrities have also jumped on the bandwagon with the likes of Emma Watson designing a range for People Tree.

We’ve been having a good little dig around and found some gorge eco clothing, which are perfect for the summer. Pick from bikinis, jumpsuits and little dresses, which will not only make you look fab but also ease your conscious.

We love ethical eco fashion, but when you add celebrity designers such as Emma Watson into the mix, a brand just gets better.

It was therefore only a matter of time before we got all excited about People Tree’s latest collection. Although this range wasn’t designed by the Harry Potter star, we’re sure you’ll agree it has a certain bit of magic to it.

We love the tunics and stripe tees made of organic cotton as well as the super casual slouchy on-trend navy trousers. Then there’s the tunics and little dresses, which we can’t help but want to spend our money on. Well it’s all for a good cause right?

The ‘Harry Potter’ actress has teamed up with designer Alberta Ferretti for new eco-clothing line All Pure Threads and believes the collection reflects her own personal style.

She said: “My style’s definitely evolved. I usually go for classic, simple things, but then I have this adventurous side.

“I’m always thinking and experimenting, and I make conscious decisions to try and support new talent and ethical fashion.”

Emma loves designing her own collection because she enjoys being in control, and also sees it as another outlet for her creativity.

She told Britain’s InStyle magazine: “I love having control. My job as an actress is to bring to life another person’s vision, but with clothes, I can express my own creativity.

“And I wanted to be able to buy fashion knowing it’s not harming the person who made it or the environment.

“I’ve always been involved in art and I love fashion – it’s just something I really enjoy.”

The pair joined up to create a collection of dresses made using surplus stocks of the revolutionary Speedo LZR Racer suit. Now they’ve got together once again for a new range combining retro 50s styling with a playful modern twist.

Taking practical swimwear and mixing it with high-end fashion trends, the aim is to create a look that’s designed to be equally at home on the beach or at a party.

Two collections will be available from Selfridges from 21st March and another two will be sold through yoox.com‘s YOOXYGEN’s brand. And not only is is great for those who love their ethical fashion, but a percentage of the proceeds will be donated to Green Cross International, YOOXYGEN’s partner.
