I’m Andrea, the new editor of ShinyStyle. As a girl obsessed with all that glitters, sparkles, or even just has zips or buttons, I’m looking forward to bringing you all the news on the latest fashions.
And it’s not just clothes. Oh no, we’ll be talking about everything from bags, shoes, make up and accessories from the highstreet to high end.
Let’s admit it, we all love a bit of Primark (yes, I hold my hands up, my top in this picture is one such creation) as much as we adore Anna Sui and coo over Chanel.
I’ll also be bringing you the latest on celeb trends, which although look great most of the time, will sometimes also have an (almost gratifying) element of “what was she thinking?”
But who am I to judge? I’ll let you into a little secret, I too have made mistakes in the past. Think multi coloured tights teamed with a similar style dress, and no I wasn’t going to a 70′s club night. Oh dear.
I would love to hear more about you too so please get in touch via our comments and let me know about your favourite outfit, whether it’s Primark or Prada, and your worst fashion mistake. Come on, don’t be shy, we’re all fashion friends now.
Mischa Barton has been admitted to hospital after police were called to her home in L.A. on Wednesday to attend to a “medical issue.”
The actress/handbag designer was placed under Section 5150 involuntary psychiatric hold (the same code that Britney Spears was held under in January last year) before being transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Barton’s rep confirmed that the star will not be attending the world premiere of her new film, Homecoming, Thursday night but refrained on commenting further. She was due to fly into New York Wednesday evening for the premiere and a photo-shoot.

Following the internet leak of the Anna Sui for Target lookbook last month, Target execs have been quick to backpedal on any suggestion that the range has been inspired by Gossip Girl.
“One of Target’s top executives got nervous about being that closely associated with the show, given the [debauchery] its characters get into,” a source told the New York Daily News.
Following in Gwyneth Paltrow’s GOOP footsteps is Rachel Zoe. The stylist-come-reality-star is about to launch her own daily fashion newsletter, ‘The Zoe Report’.
It promises a “chic variety of accessories, apparel, and other items [which] are carefully chosen by our editorial team of fashion addicts – ahem – experts”. In other words, Zoe may not be choosing the products herself, but they will be left in the hands of her editorial team. She also claims not to take any money for featuring products.
“Never in a million years would we accept money (or Maxfield giftcards) in exchange for editorial endorsement. That would be bananas. The bad kind,” she said.
If you’re interested, you can sign up to the mailing list via Rachel Zoe’s website.
Beyonce and her designer mother, Tina Knowles, are gearing up to launch a new junior line, based on the singer’s third solo album I Am… Sasha Fierce. Inspired by her current world tour, the Sasha Fierce for House of Dereon line will include a full range of sportswear, outerwear, footwear, eyewear, lingerie, jewelry and handbags. Described as “edgier and trendier”, it is a reflection of Beyonce’s tour wardrobe which has featured heavy metal chain jewelry and oversized sunglasses. Priced between $25 to $75 it will be sold via Macy’s, Dillard’s for back-to-school selling.
Comparisons are being drawn between Anna Sui’s previous collections, and her forthcoming range for Target. The designer has already cited Gossip Girl as inspiration for her Go International line, but clearly her past runways have also provided a good start. Four dresses from her 2006 and 2007 collections have been modified for her new retail range which is set to land in store on September 13. Most of the items will sell for under $50 (woot!) click here to check out the lookbook.
It didn’t take long (just enough time to achieve maximum exposure, I’m presuming) for Calvin Klein to pull it’s controversial jeans billboard in Manhattan. The company has instead replaced the “threesome” ad with a much less provocative shot of Doutzen Kroes in a red bikini. I’m sure this will come as a sight for sore eyes to many of the locals, namely of the male variety.
It is being called a dark day in Hollywood after the deaths of icons Michael Jackson, 50, and Farrah Fawcett, 62. With a 50-concert tour scheduled, and an announcement just yesterday that he’ll be wearing Swarovski when he kicked off his “This is It” tour in London next month, Michael passed away yesterday afternoon. According to US reports, the King of Pop suffered a cardiac arrest at his home, and was taken to UCLA Medical Center where he was pronounced dead by medical staff. Tributes have been flooding in from his celebrity friends all night.
Earlier yesterday morning, Farrah lost her long battle with cancer. The former Charlie’s Angels star, renowned for her flicky hair ‘do, passed away in Santa Monica surrounded by her family and friends, including Ryan O’Neal.
Some of Hollywood’s youngest (and hottest) stars have come together for OP’s new back-to-school “OPen Campus” fall campaign. They include 90210‘s AnnaLynne McCord, Sophia Bush, Solange Knowles, Joel Madden, Brody Jenner and Cody Linley. Photographed against the OP bus, the gang gossiped, listened to music and skateboarded. Available exclusively from Walmart, watch a promo video of the campaign after the cut…
It looks like it’s all over red rover for Jennifer Lopez’s fashion label, Sweetface in America. The singer is pulling the plug on her contemporary sportswear brand after six years.
“In light of some new company strategies, we have decided to put the Sweetface line on hiatus while we prepare to reintroduce the brand in the near future with new messaging points and an entirely new fashion point of view,” the company said in a statement.
When Jen is planning to relaunch her label is as yet unknown, but it marks the latest blow in her clothing empire. In 2007, the company shut down its JLO brand and replaced it with justsweet to be distributed outside of the U.S. This line was also closed down after only a few seasons. The good news is that Sweetface Fashion Co., her parent company will continue to distribute her brands overseas.
Fans of Nicole Richie and her House of Harlow 1960 jewellry line will no doubt be happy to hear the news that she will soon be adding clothes and shoes to her label.
The former reality TV star is getting ready to unveil her second collection, and has revealed that it will be a “totally different line.”
While her last range focussed on African and Indian-inspired designs, Nicole says the next one “is focusing more on old English, equestrian and more sophisticated looks.”
As for the clothes and shoes, she adds: “I’ve been working really hard on designing and picking the right fabrics for my Spring 2010 line.”
In meantime, you can shop Nicole’s current range at Singer22.com.
