The couture shows are in full fashion flow and over the next few days we’ll be bringing you all our fave styles from the likes of Miu Miu, Gucci and Chanel.
However, today our beady little style eyes are firmly focusing on Versace’s latest offerings, which this year have given a huge nod to the spangly seventies.
Short sequined frocks in golds, yellows and whites marched down the catwalk, while there was also a touch of the 80s Wonderwoman look with a cute futuristic silver leotard.
Contrasting with these fun, minimal styles were long luscious lace and beaded frocks, which epitomised Versace’s classic Hollywood style.
See the gallery below for all the latest looks on the Versace couture SS 2012 catwalk.
If there is one place we wish we were right now it is New York – and Christie’s – and The Collection of Elizabeth Taylor.
After completing a three month world tour, the iconic collection has now come to its final destination before it is being auctioned off later this month. Among the pieces to be auctioned off are: the sunflower-yellow chiffon dress Taylor wore to her wedding to Richard Burton in 1964, an Andy Warhol lithograph portrait of the iconic Hollywood legend, personal mementoes and stunning jewellery pieces such as the diamond ring gifted to her by Richard.
A display of Old Hollywood glamour and the culture of America, this is an amazing collection that is almost sad to see being split apart.
The collection will be on display at Christie’s New York for ten days from tomorrow, Saturday 3December, before the auctions start on 13 December.
Take a look at some of the gems in the gallery below and visit www.christies.com for more information.

Christmas parties are an important part of the social calendar but unfortunately they fizzle out as quickly as those champagne bubbles.
However, there’s another huge fashion event that we’re already gearing up for and that’s of course the New Year’s Eve shindig. Whether you’re planning a quiet night in or heading out in search of a kiss at midnight, you’ll need a suitable outfit.
A wardrobe essential, the little black dress, is a great choice as it goes with everything and can be dressed up or down depending on the mood of the party. But if you’re feeling a bit bolder, why not invest in a dazzling dress in on-trend metallics and sequins?
The shops are flowing over with silver, gold and glittering gowns in all shapes and sizes – the ultimate in power-glamour – so why not let the dress do the talking this New Year’s Eve?
Once you’ve got the dress you’ll want to get in the mood for New Year’s Eve too. This week romantic comedy NEW YEAR’S EVE hits cinemas and is a perfect way to get into the New Year’s Eve spirit. The movie, which is a must see for ladies, celebrates love, hope, forgiveness, second chances and fresh starts and is based on a range of in the intertwining stories of couples and singles, told amidst the pulse and promise of New York City on the most dazzling night of the year.
And the best bit about it? It features many of our style and male crushes including: Jessica Biel, Jon Bon Jovi, Abigail Breslin, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Robert De Niro, Josh Duhamel, Zac Efron, Hector Elizondo, Katherine Heigl, Ashton Kutcher, Seth Meyers, Lea Michele, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Pfeiffer, Til Schweiger, Ryan Seacrest, Hilary Swank and Sofia Vergara – we know we have quite a few.

In the meantime here’s a little trailer of the film to whet your appetite. We’ll see you by the popcorn stand.
It’s time to revise that Christmas list with the launch of an exclusive capsule collection by Victoria Beckham for designer site Net-a-Porter.
The range described by Victoria as “chic, timeless and elegant” consists of five of Ms B’s best selling SS 2011 and AW 2011 dresses, all of which have been revamped especially for the website
However, you better hope your OH wins the lottery as the range doesn’t come cheap with a mark of between £1,050 and £1,950. And you also better hope he’s super speedy as many of them have sold out. Let’s hope the real Santa comes to our rescue.
New York Fashion Week has begun! Thank god! We’ve been floating around in fashion limbo for ages now and finally we have something obsess over again – the new Spring/Summer collections. The big names aren’t showing til later in the week, but the week has gone off to a nice start already with some up-and-coming designers. Today we’re looking at Rachel Comey’s new collection.
I have to say that I’ve never really paid much attention to Comey’s work before, but I am definitely impressed by her new Spring/Summer collection. It’s an urban, sleek collection of casual dresses and separates spanning from draped, girlish prints, slouchy jersey T-shirts, modern sunglasses and masculine tailored pieces. I’ve always been more of a lover of decadent, ridiculous avant-garde fashion, but Comey may have just convinced me of the beauty in simplicity. There is nothing contrived or affected about any of the pieces on the collection – it is simply effortless.
The whole vibe of the collection was free-spirited and girlish without losing it’s city-living edge. Sweet floral shorts were teamed with tough sunglasses andpeppermint-coloured tailored shorts were worn with masculine Breton turtlenecks to create a clever balance between hard and soft.
As I said, I haven’t seen much of Rachel Comey’s work – but I like what I see. This girl is gonna be big.
Emma Watson, how do we love thee? Let us count the ways.. We’re super excited because not only did she dazzle us yesterday at the GQ awards in an Alexander McQueen dress, but we’ve also just seen Emma Watson’s new campaign as the face of Lancôme Paris’ new perfume, Trésor Midnight Rose. And she looks like a dream in the advert!
The ad shows our favourite British actress flitting across city streets with her trademark cropped hair, enchanting bookstore clerks in fedora hats and sizzling at night in a mist of Midnight Rose. How very Lancôme. We’re pretty much sold on this perfume already.
You can check out the new ad in the video below – is Emma the perfect Lancôme cover girl or what? Let us know what you think of the new advert by commenting below.
Forbes have just released a “who’s who” rich list of the wealthiest celebrity couples in the world – and we have to say we weren’t surprised to find out that the supermodel Gisele and her husband Tom Brady are the richest couple in the world. Gisele, who’s already on record as the highest-earning supermodel in the world, earned an impressive £27million last year while her footballer hubby earned £18million, giving them a total amount of £46million. Blimey.
Coming up in second place was the gorgeous Beyonce with her rapper hubby Jay-Z. The rapper made £22million from his music while Miss Sascha Fierce made about £21million through fashion and music, meaning that the couple together made about £43million last year.
Of course no rich couple list would be complete without Hollywood’s most beautiful couple, Brad and Angelina, who as a couple made £30million from Hollywood roles. (Angelina earned more than Brad, as she raked in £18million to trump his £12million. GIRL POWER.)
Naturally David and Victoria Beckham also made it onto the top 5 in fourth place. David was the big earner, thanks to all of his deals with sportswear companies, bringing in £24million while Victoria’s fashion label brought in about £3million independently.
And last, coming in at fifth place, surprisingly, was Robert Pattinson with his surly Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart. Both of the stars each earned £12million from the wildly popular vampire series.
GOD BLESS CHANNEL 5. Just when you thought that TV would never, ever get good again, they went and bought Big Brother off Channel 4. Now we can watch celebrities showering together again.
It’s an interesting mix of stars for Celebrity Big Brother ’11 (though of course we use the word ‘star’ extremely loosely). The Only Way is Essex star Amy Childs went into the house looking very dolled up in a sparkling corset dress with killer heels, as did everyone’s favourite messed-up actress Tara Reid, who wobbled into the BB house in a very skimpy black silk and lace dress.
Also leaving little to the imagination was the ex Baywatch star Pamela Bach-Hasselhoff, who struggled to pull her body-con black and gold dress over her bum as she climbed the stairs to the front door of the BB house. We were pleasantly surprised, however, by politician’s wife Sally Bercow, who looked quite classy and elegant in a royal blue off-the-shoulder number.
We were happy to see our Kerry Katona looking healthy and happy in a dramatic black silk dress with a long train – and we loved her quiff hairdo, which is really on-trend right now. Good luck with your first task, Kezza!
When it came to the men, some of them came good and some of them let us down. The male model Bobby Sabel looked like a French film star in a slouchy navy overcoat and fawn-coloured chinos, while the Corrie actor Lucien Laviscount looked very smart in a salmon-coloured tailored jacket with a crisp shirt and slacks.
The Big Fat Gypsy Wedding star Paddy Doherty, who’s our favourite by far (I like the way he says “womaaaaan”) scrubbed up in a pale blazer with an open shirt and his best jeans. He looked a little bit like the Hoff, actually.
Jedward looked absolutely ridiculous, as usual, in tiger-striped tuxedos (why? Why?). And as for Darryn Lyons, or “Mr Paparazzi” as he likes to be known… well, words fail me. I know that he’d probably made his gold “CELEBRITY IS MONEY” jacket specially for his BB entrance, but I really wish he hadn’t.
We’re massive fans of the relatively new Asos Marketplace here at ShinyStyle, where young independent fashion and jewellery designers can have a platform to showcase and sell their work. Today it’s pin-curls and court heels at the ready for Poppy Valentine, the vintage-inspired independent label we’ve just discovered that specialises in 40s and 50s designs.
The high street is brilliant for vintage-style pieces, but sometimes you just can’t beat a handmade piece made from genuine vintage fabrics where a lot of love and care has gone into the garment – and that’s what Poppy Valentine is all about.
Our personal favourite design from the collection is their 40s-style wrap dress, which comes in a variety of different prints and isn’t completely unlike the kind of thing Miu Miu has been making lately. They’re completely elegant and perfect for channelling your inner Dita Von Teese with some coiffed hair and red lipstick.
Check out the gallery above to see Poppy Valentine’s designs – just one of many good reasons why you should give Asos Marketplace a go.
Teeny-tiny fashion lovers under 5’3 will be excited and happy to read that fashion giants Asos have released their new petite collection.
The new petite range is a cute and trend-aware collection of mini-dresses, quirky printed shirts and sixties-inspired coats and tunics. We love their modern take on the classic mac coat, which has biker-style lapels and will look amazing with one of their belted chiffon dresses and a pair of Autumn boots.
There’s also some great pieces for anyone wanting to rock the boyish, tailored trend, as they’ve got a selection of chic tapered trousers that would go perfectly with a high-necked blouse and heels.
It’s a gorgeous effort – it’s no wonder that Asos is one of the most successful shops in the country when they cater for different body shapes this well. Check out our favourites in the gallery above now!
How gorgeous is this leopard-printed dress coat? We love the clear vintage and sixties inspirations.
It’s time to get your emergency credit card out, girls, because today British design genius Matthew Williamson has finally unveiled his first diffusion line, MW, on My-Wardrobe.com today. When we say affordable it’s still really quite expensive, but sshhh, it’s still very exciting and I’m quite tempted to go without food for a month to get my mitts onto one of the collection’s pieces.
So far there are only three pieces available on the site but we’ve heard tell that more will be added soon, as there will also be jewellery as part of the collection with prices starting at £98. We’re already impressed and excited with what we’ve seen – I’m completely obsessed with the MW leopard-printed bubble coat, which reminds me of sixties It girls such as Edie Sedgwick.
If you feel like blowing a load of money on something really special today I’d recommend checking it out, and keep looking back to check for more pieces being added. Want to shop the collection? Find it here.
Bride-to-be Lily Allen has taken time out from her wedding planning to launch her own Lucy in Disguise fashion line with her sister Sarah Owen.
The vintage inspired designs were launched in a full seaside style at Harvey Nichols on Wednesday 1 June.
Lily told Vogue.co.uk: “Sometimes with vintage clothes the femininity can get lost – the market didn’t feel quite perfect, so that’s what we’ve worked on. I’ve always been into vintage – before I became a pop star it was all I ever wore.”
Will we be seeing Lily sporting some of her own designs at her Glastonbury honeymoon later this summer?
