Sleeves Of The Week! Monsoon Eddie Embellished Dress, £119

By Daisy Buchanan on April 26th, 2013

Right at my core, there is a complex and unwinnable battle. Deep down, I know that to be chic is to be low key. I’ve seen too many pictures of Jackie Kennedy not to believe that the secret of style lies within the well cut. Supple silks and tasteful tweeds will take you everywhere. If you are understated, you will never be underdressed.

But then, the other of me is a MASSIVE GLITTER MONSTER who wants sequins and chiffon and shine, who always wants to look like Lady Gaga closing a show for Tom Jones in Vegas, if there were a Manumission in Vegas. And this Sleeves of the Week selection has somehow reconciled my yin with my yang, bringing me fashion serenity and inner peace. (Oh, come on. Did you really think I was going to get there through yoga?!)

The Monsoon Eddie dress is a bit Queen Elizabeth, a bit Bianca Jagger and a lot 1964. I reckon you could get away with it at a wedding, either as a guest or as a bride. (If you’re the guest, do check – don’t upstage anyone.) The sleeve and neckline detail is pretty blingy, so although the frock is over £100, you’ll save an absolute fortune on the many elaborate and expensive jewels that you’d normally rush out and buy to complement a new outfit. If you must accessorise, all you need is pearl studs and a sturdy chignon.

Steve Coogan’s Paul Raymond biopic, The Look Of Love hits cinemas this weekend. If you leave the screen with a thirst for the mod luxe, this is the perfect dress for channelling Imogen Poots.

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on February 4th, 2013

Have you started planning the spring clean of your wardrobe, when you pack away heavy winter coats and make room for clothes for the warmer months? The spring summer collections for 2013 have started to appear and today we can bring you photos of the latest collection from high street favourite H&M. We’re actually quite impressed with what the Swedish retailer is bringing out this coming season, with some pieces looking like they’ve been inspired by Japanese kimonos. Definitely a collection to check out when in stores.

Vanessa Paradis unveiled as celebrity face of H&M Conscious

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on January 22nd, 2013

Will these photos make Johnny Depp green with envy? Who knows, but his ex-partner Vanessa Paradis sure looks great!

The French singer has been revealed as the new celebrity face of H&M’s environmentally-aware collection, Conscious. In just released photos, a tousled-haired is Vanessa modelling key items from the new collection, which has been made using organic cotton, recycled polyester and Tencel.

Speaking of the new fashion partnership, Vanessa said: ‘I like being part of something like the Conscious collection at H&M. I try my best to shop consciously, and vintage is very much part of my wardrobe. I love the style and it works in an eco-friendly way because I like to use and reuse old clothes.’

The full collection will be available in H&M stores world wide and online from March.

Mango January 2013 lookbook

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on January 16th, 2013

Well aren’t the high street companies treating us today. First AllSaints and now Mango has shared its latest styles. You might remember us going a bit gaga over Mango’s autumn/winter 2012 looks, and we’re quite impressed with the latest trends to come from the Spanish retailer – perhaps not as much as last time though. A little bit rock chic, we’ll definitely be taking a closer look at this collection.

Check out the latest looks below.

Urban cool and sport chic with Primark’s spring 2013 collection

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on January 3rd, 2013

We have a love-hate relationship with high street favourite for fashionistas on a budget, Primark. We love the fact that we can update our wardrobe with the latest trends without parting with all of our month’s wages. We hate that the clothes are most often rather poorly made (something has to give for cheap and cheerfulness of it all) and the fact that everyone else will be wearing the same as us.

This spring Primark wants us all to get our swag on with urban ‘street style’  inspired pieces teamed with baseball caps and gold chains. There is also a sport chic feel to some of the items – an attempt to cash in on the sport enthusiasm in the wake of the Olympics perhaps?

We’re not overly excited about the collection as a whole. Pastels don’t look amazing on us and we’re fine to leave ghetto fabulous to Rihanna. That said, there are a couple of pretty dresses that we’d like to try on.

Check out the menswear range here.

Levi’s SS13 collection preview – goes green with WasteLess jeans

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on October 17th, 2012

Last night we headed to the Levi’s SS13 Collection Preview at the breathtaking Farmiloe Building, a Victorian warehouse which was once central to London’s heritage of trade and commerce . The US jeans makers certainly had put effort into showcasing their latest designs, as we were greeted with three floors of inspirational installations and a guided tour around the various sections.

Among the installations were a visual of how the classic 501 design has changed throughout the years, a look at the new waste<less concept – the eco range is made from post-consumer waste, more specifically recycled plastic bottles and food trays – and the floral inspiration behind forthcoming cross-Atlantic print collaboration with quintessentially British store, Liberty London.

Each pair of Levi’s waste<less jeans will predominantly be made from recycled plastic bottles, be they clear, green or brown. Turn the jeans inside out and the inner shade reveals what sort of bottles went into the process.

“From the beginning, we have designed our products with purpose and intent. By adding value to waste, we hope to change the way people think about recycling, ultimately incentivizing them to do more of it,” said James Curleigh, global president of the Levi’s brand.

New York Fashion Week: Carolina Herrera Spring/Summer 2013

By Andrea Petrou on September 11th, 2012

We can’t believe how quickly this year’s SS 2013 fashion weeks have come around, and we’re dead excited to see what London has to offer in the very near future.

However, for now we’ll be having a sneaky look at what New York has to offer and first on our list is Carolina Herrera’s Spring/Summer 2013 offerings.

This season the designer decided to go all floaty for the catwalk show.

Models marched down the catwalk in soft ethereal fabrics and shapes, punctured with hits of bold colours such as black, which gave what could have been this very girly collection a fierce edge.

Shift style frocks, classic preppy pleat tennis dresses teamed with structured blazers also made an appearance, while white dominated the colour palate here.

Definitely a day in the park/ simple summer night out collection, which we heart.

Friday fantasy fashion: The Hermès Birkin Bag

By Andrea Petrou on September 7th, 2012

If you can’t daydream on a Friday, when can you? And today we have definitely found the stuff dreams are made of, unless you have a spare $225,000 lying around.

This 35cm Birkin made by Hermès is crafted from black Porosus Crocodile, highlighted by 18kt white gold hardware and surrounded by 10 carats of VVSF quality diamonds. The detail alone includes 7 diamonds on the clasp, 16 diamonds on the brackets, an amazing 182 diamonds on the side strap plaques, and an incredible 40 diamonds on the bag’s padlock. Adding to its rarity is the fact that the gem work was done by Hermès.

The one-of-a-kind diamond-encrusted Hermès Birkin Bag. is one of the first expensive bags to be offered by  www.1stdibs.com, and to date only one other Hermès bag of this caliber has ever before been offered for sale on the secondary market at auction.

It will be offered for sale on 1stdibs, making it the most expensive Hermès bag the site has ever sold. The sale goes live on 1stdibs.com on September 12, 2012 at 4pm.

Now where did we put that row of lottery tickets?

Those seeking a more classic look will love the range of flat and heeled boots , while there’s a huge range of super high heels and sandals for that Christmas party- it’s never too early to start planning….

Primark SS 2012 collection

By Andrea Petrou on May 29th, 2012

Let’s face it, with the fickle British summer weather we sometimes don’t want to spend all our hard earned pennies on clothes that may only see the light of day once or twice.

That’s why we heart Primark’s latest collection.

Going back to budget basics, the cheap and cheerful highstreet store has come up with a range of summer lovelies to keep us going through to the autumn season.

Pick from cute and girly playsuits or smarter straight skirts for that hot day in the office. And if you’re planning a week away then why not grab a bargain bikini while you’re there too.

See our top five faves in the gallery below.

Chanel’s Croisiere 2012/2013 Collection Show

By Andrea Petrou on May 15th, 2012

We heart Chanel and jump at any opportunity to lust after the brand’s iconic designs.

And Karl Largerfeld’s Chanel’s Croisiere 2012/2013 collection, attended by muse Vanessa Paradis, is just as breathtaking as the previous ranges.

Giving a nod to the Victorian era, the collection comprised of structured shoulders, big hats and cute tweed jackets.

Away from this look playful sheer fabrics gave a nod to the brand’s iconic look, whilst little shorts, military jackets and florals bought the collection slap bang into this era.

See our fave pics of the range in the gallery below.

Banana Republic SS 2012 collection

By Andrea Petrou on May 11th, 2012

If you’re a gal who loves classic, yet stylish fashion then you’ll know that Banana Republic offers just that.

Up there with the likes of Reiss and Whistles, this brand mixes classic styles with up-to-date prints to give a great spring/summer collection.

We heart the brightly coloured maxi dresses, which are great for an evening out or for lazing around the pool, while the yellow blouses, mixed with grey patterned skirts and block grey blazers are great for that S/S 2012 office outfit.

See the gallery below for our fave Banana Republic looks.
