Brad Pitt and Angelina made it clear that they’ve got their mojo back at Graumann’s Chinese Theatre for the Los Angeles première of Angelina’s new film “Salt”, and are more of a power couple than ever – while recently in the past, the pair have appeared in public looking tired, tense and strained, yesterday on the red carpet they appeared more in love than ever.
Despite being under criticism for her skinny frame in the past couple of years, Ange looked healthy and radiant in a black, shimmering tube dress from Emporio Armani, with glamour-puss curls and Brigitte Bardot makeup. Other celebrities were copying her look – The Ring actress Naomi Watts wore an almost identical dress in silver. How embarrassing, Naomi. Brad was also looking his old handsome self, having traded in the dodgy mousy hair and beard (yay, he looks like Brad Pitt again) for cool Miami Vice-style aviator shades and classic men’s tailoring in his Tom Ford suit.
Seeing this must be a bit of a kick in the teeth for Jennifer Aniston – Brangelina are looking as hot as they did when they first started getting it on for “Mr and Mrs Smith”. Maybe they look so good because there’s a sequel in the pipeline?
All you need to know about Polaroid’s new sunglasses collection is made clear in the picture, left. Look at how happy she is! She’s young, fun, and probably on a boat dancing with Duran Duran! Probably. This is what Polaroid eyewear is all about; glamorous, retro, eighties-inspired power dressing for your peepers. Think Spandeau Ballet, Los Angeles, rich kids in convertibles and John Hughes movies.
The Polaroid frames come in a butterfly-palette of bold, bright colours and rich golds for that authentic “80′s America” look. Rent a Cadillac, pop on their classic Polaroid Aviator shades and some eighties tunes and BAM! You’re re-living your favourite teen movie.
The prices are genuinely pretty decent for designer sunnies – the prices start at approximately fifty pounds and are never more than eighty, which is a fair deal cheaper than what some of us shell out for Dior or Chanel. Check the gallery below to see a few of our favourites from the new Polaroid collection – I’m coveting the classic tortoiseshell wayfarer frames.
If your holiday is coming up really, really soon and you’re in a jam about where to get your sunnies from, don’t worry- the Polaroid range is going to be on sale on planes, cruises and airports everywhere as well as online.
For anyone reading out there who has whiled away hours daydreaming about being the next Rachel Zoe, or looking at badly-dressed people and mentally planning what you’d make them wear, good news – there’s a new college set to hit the Parsons Green area that could be a massive leg-up for anyone wanting to break into the notoriously difficult career that is professional styling.
LCS is aiming to do for fashion-lovers what the Brit School does for drama-lovers – nurturing the talents of the student, finding them work, and discovering fashion’s potential new shining stars. The founders of the college are none other than Wendy Elsmore, who has appeared several times in the role of fashion expert for This Morning and regular reporter for events such as London fashion week, and Kate Smith, international model. Also joining LCS will be the likes of Xanthia White, celebrity make up artist, and senior lecturer in fashion/textiles at the Chelsea College of Art & Design, Gary Page. Basically, they’ve all got fashion credentials up to their eyeballs.
The intensive foundation course promises to give each student a clear understanding of skills and knowledge to build upon, giving them as strong a foundation as possible to build upon. Students will learn dressmaking and garment construction, styling for brands, television, film, magazines and stage, whilst working towards creating a portfolio piece to show off their talents to potential employers.
It sounds like a dream come true to me. If you’re sitting at home dressing up your cat as you read this, wishing you could style real people, click through here for more details on how to apply to the foundation course.
I don’t know about you, but I’m a huge sucker for anything a bit kitsch – I’m the proud owner of a bizarre stuffed carrot with long eyelashes, and a technicolour piggy-bank in the shape of a kitten – but I find sometimes that it’s a very fine line between something being really cutesy or really tasteless. If you like cute, but don’t like tacky, I recommend you check out the new Autumn and Winter collection from Chelsea Doll.
The only way I can describe the Chelsea Doll brand is.. Claire’s Accessories for grown-ups. Bows, glitter, cute little animals are themes in their jewellery that are given a bit of a fashion edge. My ultimate favourite from the new collection is their gorgeous lace and metal deer brooch, which is an easy and cute addition to a blouse or cardigan, and is a snip at a mere six pounds. If you want to channel your inner little-girly side this season, check out the new Chelsea Doll collection in the gallery below.
Gossip Girl star and self-proclaimed “bad girrrl” Taylor Momsen is set to become the spokesperson for the “Material Girl” line, designed by Madonna and Madonna’s wonder-girl Lourdes. The eighties-inspired juniors’ collection is set to hit Macy’s in the U.S.A next month.
I’m surprised that Lourdes herself wasn’t chosen to front the brand; after all, Madonna is the original Material Girl (as Macy’s keeps reminding us) and Lourdes is the spitting image of her pop-icon mama. Taylor looks her usual surly, racoon-eyed self posing for the brand’s first ad campaign in a stripy miniskirt, black fur gilet and some very Desperately Seeking Susan-esque biker boots.
If you’re as curious as we are about Lourdes’ and Madonna’s new clothing range, Material Girl’s first EVER advertisement was released on the internet and can be viewed here.
If you just read my article on Autumn/Winter fashions for 2010, but are wondering how you’ll find affordable high-street versions of the catwalks’ latest trends, worry no more, because Topshop is about to launch its’ new collections for the next fashion season. There will be three key collections for you to lust over this autumn: High Performance, which continues on from the summer trend of Alexander Wang-inspired sportswear, comprised of tough layering and graphic prints, Out In The Wild, inspired by the great outdoors and comprised of cool tweeds, furs and patchworks that will keep you snuggly when the weather turns sour, and the Dark Nouveau collection that takes inspiration from the luxe styles of the Art Nouveau period – it’s going to be the place to go for a party dress come Christmas.
The Out in the Wild and Dark Nouveau aren’t up yet, but Topshop’s kindly given us girls a taster of what’s to come in a behind the scenes video of the Autumn/Winter shoot so that you can already start to plan what you’ll be buying when the collections hit stores. Looks like it’s time to start planning our wardrobes for autumn!
Those who love to have fun with their clothes will be happy to hear that the Danish fashion label RÜTME has arrived in the UK.
There’s a clear 1990s street-style inspiration behind the collection shown in the geometric prints, slouchy cuts and eye-popping colour. A bit like the outfits that Will Smith wore in The Fresh Prince (his clothes were the coolest) except updated, a bit like the “nu rave” craze we all went through in 2006 (remember the Klaxons?) except not lame. By using such bold print and colour, RÜTME could have so easily come off as trying a bit too hard, a bit too “Look at me! Look at me!”, but the casual practicality of its’ sportswear shapes make the collection effortless, not remotely contrived or try-hard at all. There’s a versatility to the clothes; you could wear them to the shop to buy milk, or wear them to a party – the founders of RÜTME, Rikke Charlotte Larsen and Nicole Rindsig, describe their line as a brand for “whole generation on the go”, and we see what they mean.
Best of all is that the brand will be retailed at high-street prices so us girls won’t have to save too much to get in on the action. There’s no online stockist for the line as of yet, but it is being sold in Selfridges already – get down there before everyone else cottons on. To find out more about RÜTME, visit their lookbook here.
For cute, affordable nightwear this summer, one of the best places to go is Zadehome.com, an online mail-order company specialising in patterned night and lounge-wear. Celebrities have already cottoned on: the range is getting the thumbs-up from Jo Wood, who deemed it “fab”, whilst our favourite kooky British pin-up Paloma Faith is rumoured to love their taxi-print jammies. A little more bizarrely, Ricky Whittle, ex-Hollyoaks heart throb, is also a fan.. I can’t imagine he’s got quite the right frame for one of their camisoles.
It’ll be music to the ears of any girl on a budget that nothing costs over twenty-five quid, so a piece from the new range won’t take its toll on your paycheck. On my wishlist are the retro rocket-print pyjama bottoms – so that I can pretend that I’m in The Jetsons – and their dainty little ballet-slippers, perfect for padding around the house in. So if you want to get a little London style in your nightwear (or impress Ricky Whittle), check the gallery below for their best pieces.
Ladies the wait for the SATC2 film is nearly upon us and we know you’ll be tottering down to a cinema on Friday to watch the girls do what they do best: Talk sex, go shopping and have those everyday dilemas many of us winge to our friends about.
Over the past few months we’ve given you trailers, sneak previews of film stills and even some of the fashion the girls will be wearing.
However, watching trailers just got that bit better. We’ve been lucky enough to get our hands on an official interactive iTrailer, which not only lets you watch plots from the latest film but also gives some interesting facts on the girls and of course their wardrobes. All you have to do is watch and clicking on the video to unlock interesting facts such as who designed the dresses in the scene or the date of Big and Carrie’s anniversary.
Ebay is a perfect place to find vintage, designer and unique clothing and accessories at bargain prices. And just when we thought the site couldn’t get any better it’s only gone and proved us wrong.
The site has decided to extend it’s reach and branched out into selling discounted items (up to 70% off!) from highstreet store. From today we’ll be able to get our hands on bargain brand new clothing from places such as Office and Ted Baker.
And if this wasn’t enough the site has also revamped it’s whole Fashion category to include a ‘More Like This’ function that searches thousands of items to give you similar matches to your original search.
Way back last year we bought you the first pictures of Britney Spears’ ad campaign for Candies, and at the time we commented how hot we thought she looked (maybe if we’re completely honest we also had a touch of the green eyed monster too.)
However, we’ve just stumbled amongst the pictures of the star that are unretouched.
According to the
, Brit’s always wanted these to be used but the brand originally released the retouched pics.
So the brand came to a compromise and decided to release both shots as part of the campaign. Frankly, we think her original pics are so much better than the edited versions, which make Brits look thinner, smoothed her skin, and skinnier round the er, crotch area. It’s nice to see she’s as normal as the rest of us.
Tell us what pic you prefer by leaving your comments in the box below.
In our last post we bought you the news that Leona Lewis would be performing the theme song for the new film, out 27 May, and now we’ve managed to get our hands on a new poster for the movie.
The ad features Sarah Jessica Parker (aka Carrie) strutting her stuff in a gorgeous ethnic style silk frock across the desert. We love her theatre style glasses and trademark super high shoes too.
We’re booking our seats as soon as they go on sale.
A few months ago we bought you the first official trailer for the Sex and the City 2 film, and we know all you true Sex and The City fans out there got goose-bumps.
Well brace yourselves ladies because we’ve got ANOTHER trailer for you.
And this one’s just as good, if dare we say, better than the first, giving us a real insight into what we can expect from the film. And we’re not just talking about the stunning range of clothes.
Judging by what we’ve just seen, it seems Samantha will be giving us plenty of those man hungry moments, while Charlotte continues to play (not so happy?) families.
We won’t give too much more away as we’ll let you watch it for yourselves below.
One actress, come designer, who has not been as successful as the Olsen Twins in her foray into fashion is Lindsay Lohan, whose collection for Ungaro two seasons ago bombed.
However she’s not giving up. Earlier this week we told you that LiLo was planning on extending her 6126 line from leggings to handbags and tops, and we’ve managed to get hold of some pictures from the lookbook, which also seems to include minidresses and leather vests.
According to NY Mag the lookbook’s intro, which tells of Lindsay’s inspiration, reads: “The iconic Marilyn Monroe and the timeless, confident glamour she represents.”
Hmmm we’re not sure about this but we want to know what you think of the first shots of the collection? Are they great or are they grim?
Sit down ladies because we’ve got a treat that will cheer you up on this gloomy Monday morning.
Debenhams has given us a sneak preview of a one-off print created by Henry Holland, featuring the faces of winning entrants to a competition.
The highstreet store has been searching for the faces of Henry Holland’s next exclusive design to be used on a handbag and scarf for the Autumn H! By Henry Holland range. And the winners were chosen by Mr H himself.
We love the new designs, which are a funky purple, black and white composite of the winners’ photos on a newspaper background, sporting slogan headlines such as, “The IT crowd” and “Beauty and the street”. And although we weren’t lucky enough to get our faces on the items, it won’t put us off buying them when they hit stores in July.
If you can’t wait that long check out the designer’s current range at Debenhams now.
