Pictures – Hollywood style awards: Chloe Moretz channels block colours, Selma Blair goes for a black tunic and Khloe Kardashian makes a bad fashion choice

By Andrea Petrou on November 14th, 2011

A-listers put their fashion feet forward for the Hollywood Style Awards. However, some didn’t quite channel that style. Looking hot was Andrea Riseborough who looked all princessy in a pink puffed ball gown, while Chloe Moretz looked bang on-trend in a yellow satin blouse and black skater skirt.

Channelling the LBD was Rose McGowan who went for a simple frock, while Mandy Moore gave a nod to the overlay trend with a sheer fabric black frock.
Joining the colour shin dig was SATC gal Kristen Davis who went for a simple coral frock, while Jamie King went for a block colour sheer number.
However, Khloe Kardashian clearly got confused about which party she was attending turning up in a gothic style black frock. Halloween was a few weeks back Khloe….

Top five must-have winter coats

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on November 11th, 2011

After a very mild start to the autumn here in England, the chill has just set in and we expect it to keep this way well into the New Year. Light cardigans and t-shirts are once more being replaced by thick, warming winter warmers as people prepare for Arctic winds  (and we hope) snow.

While that black coat that you’ve recycled for years is probably still very wearable, if you are looking to upgrade your winter wardrobe with some new outerwear this season here are five coats that caught our eye.

Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show: Miranda Kerr, Alessandra Ambrosio and Doutzen Kroes dazzle

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on November 10th, 2011

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2011

Miranda Kerr walks the runway during the 2011 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show held at the Lexington Armory in New York City, New York on November 9, 2011.

The 2011 Victoria’s Secret show took place in New York last night, and as expected voluptuous models took to the catwalk to showcase 69 amazing looks (err do we sense a bit of humour by the lingerie brand there..).

Well-known angels – and bodies – like Alessandra Ambrosio and Doutzen Kroes showed they still got it, but all eyes were on Miranda Kerr who strutted her post-baby figure (much to her hubby Orlando Bloom’s delight) in the Fantasy Treasure Bra, which is bejewelled with over $2.5 million worth of diamonds and pearls.

The OTT show reportedly cost a staggering $12 million to produce – quite horrible really when thinking of the tragic state of the European economy – and no expenses were spared to create the costumes.

Guests were treated to performances by Maroon 5 and Nicki Minaj, as well as a surprise appearance by Jay-Z who joined Kanye West on stage.

Lingerie can definitely be fun.

Five colourful bags to brighten up the winter months

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on November 10th, 2011

The next four to five months can be rather dull; the weather is cold, the days are shorter and people tend to wear a lot of black, greys and browns. Why not brighten up your day and that of those around you with a eye-catching colourful bag?! And if you feel like treating yourself, why not get one colour for every day of the week or to match your mood? Here are our five top block coloured bags for autumn winter 2011/12.

Top five woolly hats for autumn 2011

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on November 9th, 2011

Autumn is one of my favourite seasons as it means I get to dig out my knitwear and wooly hats from their summer dwelling (usually a box in the back of my wardrobe). It might be my Scandinavian genes that have made me love the colder weather, but there is just something great about putting on a chunky knit  when heading out in the crisp autumn air.

We don’t want you to freeze this autumn because you haven’t found a good woolly hat yet, so we’ve scoured the high street shops for some of the best choices out there to help you in your search…

Forever 21 Pompom Beanie

Forever 21 is a newbie on our high street so we had to check out what they’re offering for autumn winter 2011. Hats with animal faces on (bears, pandas and the like) have been popular for some years now, but might not be so cool to wear if you’re actually over 21. Perhaps this white knitted beanie with pompoms placed strategically as ears is a wiser choice to wintery hat fun that the full blown animal look… This will set you back £7.40 at Forever 21.

Designer spotlight: Prabal Gurung – loved by celebrities including Carey Muligan, Amanda Seyfried and Iman- SS 2012 designs and where to buy

By Andrea Petrou on November 8th, 2011

We’ve been spotting some bright colours mixed with soft fabrics on the likes of Amanda Seyfried, Iman and Sarah Jessica Parker of late and there’s only one designer to blame.

Prabal Gurung is fairly new to the fashion world launching his collection in February 2009. However, his Spring/Summer 2012 collection which comprised of sheer fabrics, with a hint of ethnicity, marked the seventh season for the American designer.

His designs clearly reflect his roots – he was born in Singapore and raised in Kathmandu, Nepal before studying in New Delhi. And it’s not just prints the designer does well with classic block colour frocks also a favourite of ours.

See the gallery below for star fans, SS 2012 collections and where to buy.

Spotted: Victoria Beckham and Harper Seven at the MLS Western Conference Championship, Jessie J at the Harpers Bazaar Women of the Year Awards, Nicole Richie at the 15th Annual Accessories Council Excellence (ACE) Awards and more

By Andrea Petrou on November 8th, 2011

The long black dress was at the centre of the fashion world yesterday as celebrities opted for this look at a range of events.

Channelling the look over in the US was Nicole Richie who went for a simple plunge neck version for the 15th Annual Accessories Council Excellence (ACE) Awards.

She was joined at the event by Agyness Deyn who opted for the long black frock in a see through lace version. Over at the MLS Western Conference Championship Victoria Beckham went for a black frock, while baby Harper Seven dressed in grey for the event.
And it was the same fashion story in London with Amber and Yasmin Le Bon both opting for black dresses at the Harpers Bazaar Women of the Year Awards. Amber channelled the lace look while her mother stuck to a classic asymmetric strapless look.

They were joined by Natalia Vordinova who spiced up the back dress with a velvet bustier look. However some celebrities stood out from the black dress crowd. Jessie J went for an 80s look of a blue jumpsuit at gauche gold jacket, while Coco Rocha also went for blue in a strapless dress at the Harpers Bazaar Women of the Year Awards.

See the gallery below for all the star style.

AW 2011 Makeup trends and how to get the look: Golden vintage tones

By Andrea Petrou on November 7th, 2011

Vintage is a hot trend this season. However, it’s not just making a huge impact on our wardrobes, it’s also filtering into our make up too. This season one key look is golden buff, a trend which gives a nod to 40s sepia style prints.

And it’s also a great look for all skin types. To get the look start with a cream colour base foundation before coating eyes in two types of gold eyeshadows.

Add mascara and a contrasting frosted pink lippy to finish the look.  See the gallery below for tips and where to buy the products we used.
