Westfield’s Car Bootique showcases latest fashions with Mercedes Benz

By shinychris on September 23rd, 2011

Westfield is having a car boot sale with a difference.  Returning for its second year, Car Bootique takes the traditional concept of the car boot sale to new heights as some of Westfield’s fashion brands fill up the backs of flashy Mercedes Benzes (no dirty Ford Mondeos on a bit of wasteland for them then).

Taking place from Tuesday  September 27 to Sunday  2 October, the event will feature new and one off pieces from brands such as Twenty8Twelve, Coach, Firetrap, French Connection, Biba at House of Fraser, Onitsuka Tiger, Reiss, Ted Baker, and River Island.

There’s also the chance to get yourself a front row seat at Westfield London Shopping Centre’s exclusive fashion shows, on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd October as well as enjoy speed grooming with make-up artists. They will be applying their expertise with the latest colour palettes and products and also sharing their beauty top tips.

Like Westfield London on Facebook for the chance to win a car boot filled with £1500 of prizes. Every day for ten days a new prize will appear in the car boot including a TV, Playstation 3, digital camera and more. Plus ten fans will instantly win a £10 Westfield Gift card every day. Gallery: High Street Fashion Week so far

The circus performers modelled high-street fashions for the launch of High Street Fashion Week

Today's prize up for grabs in assocation with High Street Fashion Week is this chic chakra bracelet worth £86. Read more below

High Street Fashion Week has gone off with a big, sparkly, ticker-tape rainbow bang as the beginning of the week’s celebration of fashion’s best high street stores was ushered in with circus performers and models scaling the sides of buildings in the latest fashions. We’d never thought that abseiling and stilettos would ever go hand-in-hand but hey, we love to be surprised.

High Street Fashion Week, which honours our much-beloved British high street in a week-long slew of fashion parties, meet and greets and sales, takes place in the shopping mecca which is Oxford Circus and will continue until Friday.

Today kicks off with an absolute monster sale in the Debenhams department store with 25% off in ALL THE DEPARTMENTS. AND IT’LL LAST ALL WEEK. There’s also a 10% discount at the Oxford Circus Benetton store when you spend £50 – it’s time to max out your store card, girls. Meanwhile, fashion sightseers should head on over to the John Lewis where they’re housing Osman Yousefzada’s latest collection.

One of the other good things about the High Street Fashion Week is their sensational giveaway prizes and competitions, which will be going on all week. If you want to channel your inner world traveller, enter the competition to get your mitts on this elegant gold chakra bracelet (pictured above left), which as well as being boho-chic is supposed to make the wearer “articulate, resonant of voice, a good listener and thrive on creativity”. That’s a good enough reason for us! Enter the competition on the website here.

Debenhams show us how to avoid tanning disasters this year

By emilyborrett on July 14th, 2010

Unless you’re one of those rare porcelain beauties such as Dita Von Teese or Sophie-Ellis Bextor, all of us girls look and feel more confident in our bikinis when we’ve got a bit of a golden glow. And in light of all the more recent medical evidence that we shouldn’t cover ourselves in olive oil and marinate ourselves in the sun for six hours a day until our skin begins to look like Italian leather, more and more of us are turning to fake tan as a safe solution.

But it isn’t really safe, is it? Medically safe, yes, with the exception of Jordan and Alex Reid who allegedly inject tan into their skin and spend a week throwing up afterwards. But I’m talking about fake tanning disasters, the ones that leave us weeping and frantically scruffing ourselves with lemon juice, refusing to leave the house to buy milk because of our two-tone skin. I’m going through a tanning disaster right now – I’m beautifully bronzed on the front, cottage-cheese white on the back, because I forgot to rub it in properly.

However, Debenhams have a plan that promises to end our fake-tan woes, and prevent us from ever looking like Dale Winton again, by launching the Fake Tan Tone Chart – beginning at “Pale and Interesting” and ending at “Radioactive Orange”. If you hit that, you’ve gone too far. The chart has been introduced to every Debenhams’ beauty hall in Britain and is there to give novice fake-tanners an indication of what shade of tan will suit them best, and which is the best product for their skin. Consultants will be on board to help customers assess what’s best for them.

To everyone at home currently suffering from a Fake Tan Disaster- don’t worry. There’s a place where you can get help now.

Yay! The Neiman Marcus Christmas book!

By Andrea Thatcher on October 20th, 2008

Neiman Marcus Christmas book.jpg

If you’re moving a little slow this Monday morning, get your creative (and consumerist) juices flowing with the Neiman Marcus Christmas book. Since the book is always fantasy for us, the economic downturn and falling sales of luxury goods don’t diminish our enjoyment of the catalog one bit.

For notables from this year’s offerings, keep reading. We’ll whet your appetite with these options – a lifesize replica of yourself made out of LEGO bricks and a luxury wedding package beginning at $1.3 million, and one gift costing $10 million.

Coco Rocha stars in her own Barney’s fantasy

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on August 19th, 2008

Coco Rocha Barney's.jpgClick image to enlarge.

What girl doesn’t fantasize about buying a little bit of everything in Barney’s? That’s the theme of the store’s fall catalog, created by Simon Doonan and starring Coco Rocha.

Rocha is photographed as the character Emma, and Emma has a dilemma.

“Making decisions has never been my strong point. When faced with a chocolate eclair or a macaroon, I dither and procrastinate and end up nibbling on both” says Emma.

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on April 8th, 2008

The right-off-the-runway footwear from Prada was a little too much for us, but these Prada silk crystal pumps are just right. Except for maybe the price, which is $750.
