Kate Moss to make an apearnace in reality TV show “James’ Salon”.

By Andrea Petrou on September 22nd, 2009

kate-moss.jpgIt seems that nearly every celeb is vying to do more with their already packed lives; from designing a range to appearing on reality TV shows (Big Brother has a lot to answer for).

The latest celebrity to succumb to the latter is super chic Kate Moss.

The Supermodel, who already has a successful clothing range at Topshop and made an appearance at the Topshop Unique show on Sunday during London Fashion Week, is rumoured to be making an appearance in “James’ Salon.” This is a fly-on-the-wall documentary about the opening of her friend James Brown’s first salon.

“People will see how funny and warm and caring she is,” Brown told fashion blog WWD.
“People will see the real her.”

The one-hour show will be aired on 13 October on E4 channel. We’ll be watching closely.

London Fashion Week: Video highlights

By Andrea Petrou on September 21st, 2009

It’s really hard to explain the buzz surrounding London Fashion Week, when you haven’t been (no I’m not rubbing it in, this year is the first time I’ve ever been).

The catwalk shows are amazing and the constant excitement of what’s going to be shown hangs around the atmosphere like humidity before a rainstorm.

Thankfully you don’t need to miss out on the fashions, as this year LFW has put up all designers collections online, including videos of many of the catwalk shows.

We the highlights videos, which has highlights of each day. Day two, for example includes the NEWGEN presentations in the Portico Rooms, Massive Attack Djing at The Exhibition, Stephen jones sharing his thoughts on the new Venue aswell as exclusive backstage footage at PPQ, Ashish and John Rocha.

Watch the video here.

London Fashion Week: Stella McCartney and Adidas

By Andrea Petrou on September 21st, 2009

Sporty fashion is always something I like to keep on top of, especially for days when I just want to slob around in my tracksuit bottoms but worried about an announced visitor.

So I’m really pleased that Stella McCartney has once again come up trumps with her range for sportswear company Adidas.

The daughter of Paul McCartney, yet a fashion star in her own right has been designing the range for Adidas for five years bringing us sporty, casual designs that we can afford to be caught out in, and this year’s collection, displayed at London Fashion Week, is certainly no different.

She showed off vest tops with scalloped edging and slouchy jersey short-shorts as well as zebra print leggings for girls that like to go to dance classes and peach and grey, cape-sleeved hoodies for the yoga fans amongst us.

This year’s range also has a triathlon collection for those of us who are very sporty. Now we’re just waiting for pictures but as soon as we get them we’ll be putting them up to show you.

London Fashion Week: Betty Jackson catwalk show

By Andrea Petrou on September 21st, 2009

Betty Jackson Ruffles.jpgI could sit here all day and write about all the fabulous catwalk shows and different designers we have seen so far at London Fashion Week.

One such designer that has got my heart racing so far this year has got to be Betty Jackson and if you like your clothes to have a ruffle or two then you’ll agree her designs are amazing.

Ruffles appeared on many of this designer’s creations, hiding subtly in skirt bustles and making a big mark around the neck or on a skirt or dress. These plus, the floral prints and pastel green and pink colours gave this collection a girly fun with a hint of maturity.

However it didn’t end there. Betty is the second designer we’ve spoken about who has used metallic fabrics and big shoulders in her collection. We think this means both are going to be a big trend for next year.

London Fashion Week: Giles Fall 2009 video

By Andrea Thatcher on February 26th, 2009

From our British fashion site, Catwalk Queen

And that is it… London Fashion Week is over for another season! But not until we bring you up-to-date with a few of the last shows. The Giles A/W 2009-10 show on Monday caused quite a stir with what the designer described as a return to his earlier days as a student at Central Saint Martins. Everything was up for experimentation including rubber bulbous jackets, furry arm warmers, spikes, studs, spaceship hats and lampshade skirts. It was a collection seen to be believed, so click the video above and check it out for yourself.

London Fashion Week: House of Holland Fall 09 Gallery

By Andrea Thatcher on February 25th, 2009

CatwalkQueen’s Kimberley Foster writes…

Forget those slogan T-shirts which made him a household name, Henry Holland has moved on. The designer behind the House of Holland label is all about Pantone colour cards these days, showing his most grown-up collection to date. The show opened with a square-cut box jacket featuring colour blocks and horizontal stripes. This theme continued into dresses, skinny trousers, tights and knitted jumpers. There was the odd hairy coat, sequinned panelling, and chunky chain-link accessories designed by Kate Hillier. Even with pal Agyness Deyn hitting the catwalk again for him and whipping up a crowd frenzy, I can’t deny that this collection left me dizzy. Bold? Yes. Brilliant? No.

London Fashion Week: Luella Fall 09

By Andrea Thatcher on February 24th, 2009

From Catwalk Queen’s Kimberley Foster…

It was schoolgirl fun at Luella yesterday morning. While the rest of us cooed over Oscar gowns, Luella Bartley dished up a slice of edgy retro looks mixed in with uniform-style pieces. Tweed dresses, navy blazers and dark green military jackets traipsed down the runway, as did bubble prom dresses, which clung to the likes of Pixie Geldof. This was a much more grown-up collection for the designer, who was able to show off her sartorial skills in muted colours of charcoal grey and olivey-browns. Touches of shine were left to metallic bronze panelled dresses and gold boots.

London Fashion Week: Vivienne Westwood Red Label gallery

By Andrea Thatcher on February 22nd, 2009

Catwalk Queen’s Gemma Cartwright writes…

Showing to a crowd that included Kanye West, Nicola Roberts, David Walliams, Siouxie Sioux, Erin O’ Connor, Leah Wood, Lily Cole and Jamie Winstone (on the second row) Vivienne Westwood Red Label needed to deliver. And what the collection lacked in imaginative new ideas it made up for in paparazzi-friendly showmanship with the likes of Jo Wood, Daisy Lowe and Alice Dellal modelling the collection. London Fashion Week: Paul Costelloe Fall 09

By Andrea Thatcher on February 21st, 2009

paulcostelloe_aw2009_1.jpg

While we still have some New York Fashion Week reviews coming (Christian Siriano, Zac Posen) and plenty of Fall 09 trend reports coming your way, we have officially handed off to the British Shinies for London Fashion Week. Catwalk Queen’s Gemma writes…

London Fashion Week has changed! For its last season at the Natural History Museum there’s a brand new layout to the tents, which caused much confusion before the now traditional opening show from Paul Costelloe. BFC chairman Harold Tillman announced the move to Somerset House and was greeted by a long oooh amongst the crowd, an oooh that was echoed a while later when Costelloe’s finale of chunky black knits with plaited shawl collars took to the catwalk…

Spring 2009 Wish List!

By Andrea Thatcher on September 25th, 2008

Thumbnail image for Spring 2009 wish list.jpg

With a few more Milan shows and Paris still to go, there’s only a bit more time to dream of spring 2009 before fall 2008 hits us hard! So I’ve compiled a list of my favorites from the runways we’ve seen so far. It’s New York heavy since these pieces have been rolling around in my head all month long. I’m not sure if all these items all fit into one wardrobe or not, or if this list just reveals how fashion-schizo I really am. Whatever the case, this is my spring 2009 wish list!

London Fashion Week Hot Ticket! Peter Pilotto

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on September 17th, 2008

peter_pilotto_celeb_fans.jpg

From CatwalkQueen

Last season, Peter Pilotto was dubbed one of the “Ten Most Promising New Talents” by Style.com, so it’s no surprise that tickets to his London Fashion Week show this season are highly sought after. The stand-out piece from last season was a voluminous, jewel-coloured dress that has been spotted on celebs like Lisa Snowdon, Tamsin Egerton and Rihanna in various colourways. This time around, Pilotto and his design partner Christopher De Vos will apparently be looking to the artist David Altmejd for inspiration…

London Fashion Week Spring 2009: Nicole Farhi

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on September 16th, 2008

Nicole Farhi 1.jpgClick images to enlarge.

Via Catwalk Queen

Nicole Farhi was one of the first London designers to continue on the trend of painterly florals we saw emerge at New York Fashion Week, and she does it just beautifully. Hemlines were longer, below the knee, and shapes were a bit of a throwback to the earlier decates of the last century. But the prints and some tweaking of the silhouette kept things modern and chic.

Hot ‘n’ heavy in New York, splitsville in London: Mark Ronson and Daisy Lowe call it quits

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on September 15th, 2008

daisy_modelppqshow.jpg

What a difference a fashion week makes. Catwalk Queen was sad to hear that Daisy Lowe and Mark Ronson have split. The it-couple of New York Fashion Week have reportedly separated following an argument over the 14-year-age gap between them.

Last week the stylish duo were spotted all over the Big Apple at fashion shows, at designer after-parties, and on the front row.

Yesterday, Daisy was back in London and back on the catwalk at the PPQ spring/summer ’09 show. She was watched in the front row by pals, Pixie and Peaches Geldof (who modelled for PPQ two seasons ago). Overall, Daisy is expected to model in two shows this week.

CQ covered the PPQ show here and will be funneling lots of exclusive London Fashion Week goss our way!
