Ever since she burst out onto the scene two years ago, Agyness Deyn and her crop of peroxide blonde hair have wooed many of us into submission. Her array of unusual hairdos have spawned a wave of ardent followers/copy-cats both among the celeb crowd and on the on street. In this short clip, Agy explains her ever-changing style, which began when she cut all her hair off at the age of 11. Click play on the video above to hear what she has to say.
What do you get when you put Naomi Campbell, Lauren Hutton, Karlie Kloss, Iman, Paulina Porizkova, Caroline Trentini and Hilary Rhoda together at a table? A very interesting discussion about the state of the modeling world today and a little insight into what it’s like to be a living, walking clothes hanger…
Fanning our lust for all things Balmain is Kate Moss. The supermodel caused a pap frenzy overnight as she left Nobu restaurant with funny man, David Walliams (yep, that’s him behind her!) The supermodel looked fantastically-futuristic in a silver and black sequinned mini dress, with exaggerated shoulders from Balmain’s autumn/winter ’09 collection. She also attended the launch the new White Light diamond, designed by her friend Shaun Leane. I wonder, has she been taking style inspiration from Star Trek and Claire Merry’s Pam Hogg spacesuit?
“My mom is a redhead, and I always wondered how it felt. At first it was very different, I felt like I was this walking stop sign. But I like it now — I don’t want to go back. In the modeling world it’s like they want it really, really red, but to live with really, really red is [like being a] character, so I try and balance in the middle, so we’re both pleased. So I can still walk into my house without looking like Bobo the Clown.”
Hollywood is a buzz today with reports that Heidi Klum is pregnant.
The supermodel and host of Project Runway, is believed to be expecting her fourth child with husband, Seal.
Speculation began after designs for her new Project Runway outfits were recently leaked online. The redesigned couture sketches had taken into consideration a baby bump, but were quickly taken down.
Seen the latest Vogue cover which has been graced by all your favourite models? If you can’t get enough of Raquel, Natalia, Jourdan, Lara and co., then you’ll be pleased to get a bit of extra screen time with them, thanks to Vogue‘s peekie behind-the-scenes at the May Model Issue. You can see everyone primping, preening and posing and then get a severe case of the jels when they rave about how much they love their job! You get paid to wear pretty clothes – we geddit, alright?!
In the lead-up to the MET Costume Institute Gala next month, Vogue has paid tribute to ‘The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion’ – this year’s gala theme. Photographed by Steven Meisel, the lucky models to land the cover include (from left to right): Liya Kebede, Natalia Vodianova, Anna Maria Jagodzinska, Isabeli Fontana, Lara Stone, Jourdan Dunn, Raquel Zimmermann, Caroline Trentini, and Natasha Poly. It also is the third consecutive American Vogue cover to feature a black woman (Michelle Obama and Beyonce were the previous two). But what really has me excited is what’s inside the issue – an editorial shoot starring this year’s gala co-chairs Kate Moss, Justin Timberlake and Marc Jacobs (but more on that later!).
Definitely a Shiny Fashion favourite, über-cool Londonite Daisy Lowe made the move to New York at the beginning of the year to help her on her way to a successful modelling career stateside (looks like it worked). And now she’s opened up the doors to her apartment to Modelinia (and in turn, us) so we can peek at her shoe collection, her superhero-plastered bedroom walls and her boyfriend’s cute pick-me-up pressies!
After countless delays and months of setbacks, (“a logistical nightmare,” according to Sir Philip Green), we are now thismuchcloser to the opening of Topshop USA.
Not only that, Page Six reports that Kate Moss is expected to attend the grand opening on 1st April, at the flagship store in New York’s SoHo district.
It’s no surprise considering her collection is already being stocked and waiting for mass consumer assumption inside the store. Indeed, she gets her own special boutique, which will soon stock her new lingerie line.
The weekend brought with it the return of MTV’s newly-revived House of Style. The TV show, which had many of us glued to our screens in the late ’80s/early ’90s, has now partnered with Teen Vogue to bring us all latest from the world of fashion.
Starring Bar Rafaeli and Chanel Iman as co-hosts, the show’s weekend debut prompted mixed reactions from viewers, who felt it was too scripted and perhaps a little too geared towards the teen-set (erm… friendship bracelets, really?!). Here is a snippet from episode one, featuring Rafaeli interviewing Justin Timberlake on the eve of his New York Fashion Week show for William Rast. Click play on video above to watch.
@susiebubble called our attention to the April Dazed and Confused cover over on Twitter (follow me @ShinyAndrea). Lakshmi was photographed by Josh Olins in Dolce & Gabbana styled by Nicola Formichetti. The whole shoot is gorgeous and can be seen over on StyleBubble.
Chic.tv caught up with Tanya D backstage at New York Fashion Week and got this pretty great interview with her. I love her hair and eye makeup, and oh yeah, all the model chat.
Kim and the Catwalk Queen gang have been waiting eagerly for the arrival of Agyness Deyn and Daisy Lowe at New York Fashion Week and here they are! The duo, alongside Lily Donaldson, stormed the runway at the Anna Sui Fall 2009 show last night. The collection itself was a romantic, feminine affair inspired by ‘reading lots of Proust’, according to the designer. Silk bohemian fabrics and early French velvet coats held such drama that one might have been forgiven for thinking they were watching a theatrical performance. This was my fashion week buddy Melissa’s favorite show of the week, and she’s gone to all the biggies.

I guess we can now finally shut-up about Kate Moss possibly hiding a bun in the oven. The supermodel has officially denied that she is pregnant, by telling New York magazine that she has put on a few pounds and has only just started wearing a bra.
“I am a woman now. It’s true. Honestly, I’ve never worn a bra in my life. Ever! It’s so awful, even my friends are phoning me up and saying, ‘Are you pregnant?’ And I’m like, ‘No! I just put on a couple of pounds and they went in the right place.’ Isn’t that weird? Now I can fill a B-cup,” she said: “My boyfriend might not like them. I’m a bit worried.”
Tonight was a busy night but I stopped backstage at Tory Burch (and met the lady herself!) between the Carmen Marc Valvo party and Vivienne Tam presentation. A style blogger’s got to sleep sometime, so I will leave you waiting for all that fabulous fashion but in the meantime check out the Tory Burch beauty gallery over on ShinyGloss.
