Lara Stone sues French Playboy and we put together a gallery of some of her week

By Shiny writer on July 29th, 2010

Lara Stone is suing French Playboy, claiming it has published unauthorised pictures.
Our favourite model is furious that pictures taken by photographer Greg Lotus last year, have ended up on the pages of the magazine without her permission. However it is not known how the snaps, which include topless and full-frontal fashion images, made their way into the June/July issue.

Lara has now asked her lawyers to begin proceedings. She said in a statement: “It’s not the kind of publication I would ever choose to appear in. Playboy had no right to publish these unauthorised photographs. I feel I have no option but to take steps to protect my reputation.

We totally agree with Lara, she may not be adverse to appearing in the buff, doing so for a range of magazines in the past, but it’s wrong for Playboy to just steal these images.

We’ll keep you updated but in the meantime we’ve put together a gallery of some the photos that appeared in Playboy and some of the work Ms Stone should be proud of. Let us know what you think about this, and of her campaigns by leaving your comments below.

Claudia Schiffer names her baby girl

By Andrea Petrou on May 26th, 2010

Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Claudia Schiffer YSL.jpg

Last week we bought you the news that Claudia Schiffer had given birth to a baby girl. The
supermodel gave birth to her daughter on May 14 at London’s Portland Hospital, but at the time of the news the couple had no released a name.

However the model and her film producer husband Matthew Vaughn have since announced their choice of name, which as we expected by looking at their other children’s names of Jasper and Clementine, wasn’t going to be “traditional”.

The couple’s publicist told Welt Online: “Her name is Cosima Violet Vaughn Drummond. Both mother and child are fine.”

We’re not sure what to make of this name, but we know one thing is for sure, she’ll probably be the only little girl at school with it. Tell us what you think of the name by leaving your comments below.

First looks! Lara Stone’s wedding dress

By Andrea Petrou on May 25th, 2010

lARA STONE White wedding.jpg

Last week we told you Lara Stone had wed David Walliams in an alcohol free ceremony at Claridges hotel. However we were only able to get you snaps of the gold sequined Givenchy frock she changed into for the reception.

But that’s all changed now because we’ve managed to get a full length photo of her original, and wedding gorgeous dress she wore at the ceremony. Designed by Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci the rumoured £30,000 dress was simple, elegant and gave a slight nod to the medeival look with gold edged chain sleeves and gold detailing on the daring lace thigh high spilt.

We have to admit the model looks stunning. Click over to our sister site Bridalwave later on today where we’ll be giving you a Lara Stone get the look gallery.

Model update: Miranda Kerr for Jil Sanders and Astrid Bergès-Frisbey to star in Pirates of the Carribean

By Andrea Petrou on May 24th, 2010

Miranda Kerr-400.jpg

Fashion models are no longer just pretty faces. Over the past 12 months we’ve been reporting on a range of high profile campaigns and acting jobs some of these lucky ladies have fallen into and today is no different. First up is Miranda Kerr who has just become the latest Victoria’s Secret Angel to land a high-fashion campaign.s

The model and girlfriend of Orlando Bloom has spilled the beans about a shoot she did for Jil Sander. However, the gossip grapevine is remaining tight lipped about whether she is she is the new face of the label’s fashion or beauty so we’ll have to wait and see.

But it’s not just Miranda who has news with French Connection model, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey announcing that she will be appearing in the next instalment of Pirates of the Caribbean, On Stranger Tides, which is due out later this year.

Astrid, the current face of French Connection’s Spring Summer collection – the 2010 ‘THE WOMAN’ campaign – has been selected by producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Rob Marshall to star alongside Johnny Depp as Syrena, a beautiful and alluring young mermaid. The film is predicted to hit screens on May 20, 2011.

Poor Kate Moss. Not only has she been the subject of, erm, kiss and tell stories by Courtney Love this week but now she’s also had her house broken into.

According to reports the model had valuable artwork including an £80,000 Banksy portrait stolen from her £7 million home in Maida Vale, north London, in the early hours of yesterday morning while she, her mum and beau Jamie Hince slept.

A 24-year-old man was arrested in connection with the burglary and inquiries are ongoing, police said.

Claudia Schiffer gives birth to a little girl

By Andrea Petrou on May 17th, 2010

Thumbnail image for Claudia Schiffer YSL.jpg

We’re sending out lots of congratulations today and this time the person in question is Claudia Schiffer.

The supermodel has become a mum for the third time, after giving birth to a baby girl on Friday.

Claudia and husband Matthew Vaughn released a statement early on Saturday morning, saying they were ‘proud’ to announce the arrival of their new addition to the family.

The statement added: ‘Mother and baby are doing well.’

They currently have no name for their little bundle of joy but if their other kids names, Clementine and Casper, are go by, then we have a feeling it won’t be a traditional one.

Celebrities attend the wedding of Lara Stone and David Walliams

By Andrea Petrou on May 17th, 2010

Although Lara and David kept their wedding day quiet, they didn’t forget to send out invites to their star studded event.

The “dry” day, which was introduced as a result of Lara’s stint in rehab for alcholism last year, was attended by a range of celebs. Alan Carr and Natalie Imbruglia, Louise and Jamie Redknapp and Noel Gallagher and his pregnant partner Sara MacDonald all turned up to watch the couple toast their marriage with popcorn.

Scroll down to see some of the pics.

Lara Stone and David Walliams get wed!

By Andrea Petrou on May 17th, 2010
David Walliams and Lara Stone pose for photographs outside of the Claridges Hotel after getting married

A big congrats to Lara Stone and now hubby David Walliams who tied the knot this weekend.

After a whirlwind romance the pair hurried down the aisle and into a reception at Clarigdes hotel yesterday.

Although we have yet to see the frock Lara wore for the ceremony, rumour has it and as we told you a while back, the bride wore a custom made cream lace corset dress, edged with golden chain by Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci.

However, the £30,000 dress didn’t stay on for too long as Lara decided to change into a mini-frock covered in gold and silver sequins, which was also by Riccardo Tisci for the reception.

We think she and her groom look stunning.

Stay tuned for a gallery of guests.

Tyra Banks pens a fantasy model trilogy

By Andrea Petrou on May 12th, 2010

Tyra Banks shows us how to wear it straight
There’s probably not a fashionista on this earth who hasn’t heard of America’s
Next Top Model
and that’s all thanks to clever lady and ex-model Tyra Banks.

The star who has launched the shows which now run across the world and has her own US talk show, has decided that she now wants to tell the world a little bit more about the modelling world. She has penned the first book in fantasy based trilogy, which she has creatively called Modelland.

The fantasy book is the story of a teen girl in a make-believe society who finds herself competing for a way of life that’s both hotly desired and woefully out of reach at an academy for Intoxibellas, the most exceptional models known to humankind. As the plot unfolds, readers will uncover lessons that are buried beneath the surface of this magical world.

Sounds interesting but we hardly think it’s going to be Twilight or chic lit worthy.

Georgia May Jagger to focus on her studies rather than modelling

By Andrea Petrou on April 29th, 2010

Georgia big.jpg

Models are no longer just pretty faces, they’re also exceptionally bright. Lily Cole has been happily studying at Cambridge for the past few years and Emma Watson (if you count her stint at Burberry as modelling) has shipped herself off to America to continue her studies.

Next to show us her brainy side is Rimmel girl Georgia May Jagger, who, according to Vogue has chosen to focus on her A-Levels, which she’ll be taking in June, over modelling commitments.

Her agent Tori Edwards at TESS, told the magazine: “She’s studying sociology, photography and art, and that’s her only focus right now – especially after being stranded in NY last week, where she was shooting the new Hudson campaign, because of the ash cloud. She is thinking about further studies after she finishes school and wants to do well in her exams.”

Helena Christensen photographs Daisy Lowe

By Andrea Petrou on April 28th, 2010

Helena and Dasisy.jpg

While some models are turning to acting others such as Janice Dickinson and Tyra Banks are taking a stand behind the camera. One such model to follow in these footsteps is Helena Christensen who has teamed up with Scandinavian brand Odd Molly.

Although this is not the first time the two have teamed up, it’s the first time Helena has had the opportunity to photograph Daisy Lowe for the brand’s latest campaign.

“I was a photographer before I started modelling – so the transition was really the other way around,” Christensen told Vogue.

“I am fascinated by photography, the effect images have on me. Working on both sides of the camera has been some sort of educational experience for me.”

We can’t wait to see the pictures, we’re sure they’ll be gorgeous.

Gisele Bündchen’s flip flop collection for Grendene helps turtle charity

By Andrea Petrou on April 9th, 2010

gisele_bundchen.jpg
Yesterday we bought you news of TOMs shoes urging people to go bare foot for charity, and now it seems Gisele Bündchen is too using her footwear designing skills for a good cause.

The model who launched her latest flip-flop line, Ipanema, in collaboration with Brazil’s largest shoe company, Grendene, in Paris yesterday, said the collection, which is her eighth with the company, was inspired by ocean and sea life.

“Nature is very close to my heart, and it is important for me that people who buy my flip-flops are made aware of the environment,” she told WWD.

She added a portion of the proceeds from the collection would go to a project that reintroduces turtle hatchlings into the sea.

Altogether now….awwww.

By Andrea Petrou on March 22nd, 2010

Coco.jpg
A few weeks after Lara Stone announced her wedding dress designer would be Riccardo Tisci, supermodel Coco Rocha has said she’ll be enlisting the creative talents of Zac Posen for her frock.

We had thought the model, come designer would be designing her own dress but she confirmed the news on Twitter.

“Mr. Zac Posen is the best! I met with him to discuss wedding dress designs and immediately sketches were flying… So exciting!!,” she wrote on her page.

We can’t wait to see the design Coco chooses, and will her dress be better than Miss Stone’s?

We see a real life fashion bride wars coming up quite soon.

We think a big congratulations is in order fo Coco Rocha who has just announced she has got engaged to interior designer boyfriend James Conran.

The 21 year old Canadian model come designer, told fans on her blog yesterday: “I’m very happy to announce that I am engaged. Mr. Conran proposed last week and I most definitely accepted. I don’t think I’ve ever been so happy as I am right now. I can’t wait to start the rest of my life with him…

Kate Moss to star in a ballet

By Andrea Petrou on March 1st, 2010

Kate Moss bags.jpg

It seems today is a hot day for model announcements and this time it’s Kate Moss’s turn to be in the limelight.

The supermodel has apparently been signed up to star alongside Sex and the City star, Mikhail Baryshnikov in a ballet, rumoured to be named Baryshnimoss.

The ballet will be shown at a fund-raising event and then as a gallery installation. However, it’s not going to be an easy move from heels to points for Kate.

A source told the Daily Mail: “Kate has to be fit, healthy and looking good, so her late nights and heavy partying have to be reduced.

“I know that she is very happy to do that and has talked about wanting to get fit and healthy herself. It will be a movie made for them so she doesn’t have to be a prima ballerina, even though she is having classes.”
