Outfit Pick: Goldsign Misfit super stretchy jeans and Givenchy-esque chain top

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on February 2nd, 2009

Outfit pick.jpg

The affects of Givenchy’s fall 08 chain dresses are still being felt, so you can find something like this Forever 21 chain trim tunic, $19.80, everywhere. It’s perfect for pairing with Goldsign’s super-stretchy Misfit slim leg jeans, $218. Thanks to 35% four-way stretch, the denim is likened to the feel of leggings. And what to wear with your dark wash skinny jeans but a tough-chic bootie. We chose Steve Madden’s Slasssh bootie, $199.95, even though we’re generally opposed to open-toed boots in winter. But, what better way to show off the new Chanel nail colors we’re all coveting? Top it all off with this Jimmy Choo Eva leather clutch, $1,170 to remind everyone you’ve got class.

Paul & Joe SISTER, the more whimsical and quirky little sister, if you will, of the Paul & Joe fashion line has been bringing designer Sophie Albou’s love of bold patterns and unique details to life since 2006.

For Spring 2009 Albou has created a collection full of pieces designed to quickly become your favorites.

“The freshness of our collection mixed with Sophie’s universal taste makes us the best kept French secret in America,” said VP Julien Haggiag. We’ve chosen some of our favorite pieces from the spring collection to show you.

Banana Republic launches green Heritage for Women line this spring

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on January 22nd, 2009

Banana Republic SS09 Runway 013.jpg

We love shopping green, but it’s a hard row to hoe! (Like that? Gardening reference in a GREEN article. Gosh we’re funny.) If you want to try things on, as in not shop online, you have to seek out expensive lines and city boutiques. So we’re super excited that Banana Republic is bringing more sustainable fashion to the mall.

Plus, when it’s BR, you know it’s not going to be too hippy dippy, and that the quality will be good. They describe it as eco-chic meets weekend chic. Items in the line will include the Classic Novelty Gaucho, Silk Explorer Shirt, Long Embroidered Strapless Dress, Short Sleeve Jamie Pocket Tee and Cargo Khaki Bloomer.

Catwalk Queen‘s Gemma Cartwright writes…

It might not be the whole collection, but we still thought you’d be as excited as us to see this photo, which shows model Veronika Fasinova cosying up to Matthew Williamson in the first frock to emerge as part of his highly anticipated H&M collaboration, which hits stores on April 23rd.

Keep reading for another snap of the designer with H&M’s Margareta van den Bosch and what we hope is another fabulous print from the range…

ShinyStyle Gallery: first look at Thakoon for Target!

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on November 6th, 2008

The Thakoon for Target collection may not be in stores for another month, but now you can start figuring out (and budgeting for) what you want to buy.

Though the collection is coming out around Christmas, they resisted the holiday angle and went more resort. So if you’re not in sunny climes you may want to save these pieces for spring, though there are certainly a few that could work for winter with some layering.

The prints and cool vibe are there, and now for only $20 to $70. Start your shopping engines, even if you’ll be idling a while.

If you’re doing some online shopping to while away the hours waiting for election results, then here’s a rather patriotic find that will also transition well into the holidays.

These Gorjana star studs at Shopbop, $45, come in sterling silver or 14K gold. The brush detail adds some style and keeps them from being stuffy.

High-low cashmere sweater wraps

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on November 3rd, 2008

Cashmere sweater wrap comparison.jpg

We were perusing the new Lounge Lover collection on Net-a-Porter today, and it kind of put us in mind of something we’ve seen before.

The Victoria’s Secret cotton and cashmere collection. We look forward to snuggling up in their cotton and cashmere wide-leg pant.

Which isn’t that different than Lounge Lover’s tessa pant, but the really similar items are the Victoria’s Secret cotton and cashmere sweater wrap and the Lounge Lover Tessa wrap cardigan.

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on October 27th, 2008

Breast Cancer Awareness Ts.jpg

The pink frenzy of Breast Cancer Awareness Month is almost over, so your chance for charitable shopping is quickly coming to a close.

Why not snap up one of these limited edition Shopbop Bop Basics tees designed by celebrities like Nicky Hilton, Hilary Duff and Cindy Crawford.

We like Jamie King’s floral print and dare we say Denise Richards’ girlie shoe design. The shirts are $88 with 50% of proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Network of Strength.

Preen for Net-a-Porter on sale tomorrow

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on October 21st, 2008

preen_fornetaporter_preview.jpgAs Kim mentioned last month, Net-a-porter.com is about to get an injection of Preen, with an exclusive capsule collection.

The Brit designers have created six gorgeous dresses especially for the online retailer, available in metallic black, blue, and fuchsia.

Here is a preview of one of those frocks (pictured right), called the Power Dress which is nipped in at the waist and puffs out into a tulip skirt – love it.

There is also the Love Dress, a pencil skirt style, and the Club Dress, a cape-like design.

The collection hits the online shop tomorrow – so keep Net-a-porter bookmarked.

Rachael Ray’s style finds

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on October 17th, 2008

Rachel Ray style finds.jpg

Rachael Ray might not be known for her cutting edge fashion sense, but we have her talks how on at the office once in a while and we enjoy her fashion and beauty segments. Especially when she has the audience vote on which outfit was cheap and which was expensive – we’re very good at that.

So, we’re definitely interested in the style section of Rachael Ray Everyday Faves.

Shop for fashion, beauty and home accessories or check out the fun tab for quirky gifts like a Lady Bug iPod speaker/doc.
