With it being both the fashion season and the film festival season at the moment, it’s a pretty good time for sneaking peeks at celebs’ best red carpet and party outfits. Today we weren’t let down at all by what we found.

Keira Knightley was spotted at the Toronto International Film Festival looking absolutely amazing in a nude lace crystal dress, with a sleek dark bob and angelic make up. We think that’s an Elie Saab dress that she’s wearing, lucky girl, but we could be wrong.. This is definitely a look that really works for her – we’re glad she sticks to it. We also spotted Emily Blunt looking quite foxy in a halter-necked black jumpsuit which looked cool with her laidback wavy hair and smoky eyes.

Meanwhile as New York Fashion Week continues, we spotted the Charmed actress Rose McGowan looking extremely sultry in an amazing magenta structured cocktail dress which matched the colour of her lipstick. This is one actress we never thought would come zooming back into our style radar, but we’re often surprised.. Meanwhile, the statuesque Heidi Klum towered over Christian Siriano backstage in a clinging back dress with a sheer chiffon skirt.

The Worst Dressed In The World EVER Award goes to Kelly Osbourne, who rocked up to Fashion’s Night Out in Chicago wearing a red rubber T-shirt. I don’t think I need to say any more than that.

Rachel Zoe is nervous about showing her designs at New York Fashion Week

By emilyborrett on September 5th, 2011

The celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe has admitted that she’s “terrified” about the debut of her new fashion line, which will be shown in the upcoming New York Fashion Week. Yay, super-stylists get nervous too!

Rachel, who’s famous in the past for weaving fashion magic over Hollywood’s elite, told the fashion site FabSugar: “Nervous, excited, petrified, anxious, terrified . Did I mention terrified? I’m terrified.” Well, if her taste in clothes is anything to go by then the designs will be good – then again, you never can tell til you see it on the runway..

Despite her trepidation, Rachel Zoe is also excited about her new project, having recently compared finishing a collection to “giving birth”. “Being a designer was the thing that I always said, ‘I’m never going to do this, because I’m too scared to do this’. All of sudden during my presentation this season, I was like ‘Oh my god, why am I doing this, I’m too scared to do this. Then it was like, it was almost like giving birth. When it was over, I was like, ‘This is the most exciting, most challenging adventure. This is new, and this is fun.’ ” We can’t wait to see what she comes up with.

Zac Posen is returning to New York Fashion Week

By emilyborrett on August 30th, 2011

Zac Posen has revealed that he is planning to return to New York Fashion Week after previously showing in Paris.

Zac, who is loved by all women for his sultry, opulent designs, is moving back to New York Fashion Week because he feels “just like it’s the right time”. The designer said: “Paris is wonderful but it just feels like the right time to show in New York.”

His previous collection for Autumn/Winter 2011, which was showed in Paris, was his trademark array of sculptural-looking evening gowns, this time in leather and metallic fabrics for a harder take on the seventies trend – I absolutely cannot wait to see what he comes up with next, whichever city he’s in.

He went on to explain the city change: “For the Zac Posen Collection, I wanted to give a different voice and focus in the international fashion arena. Obviously, New York has been extremely supportive of me and the stars were aligned to base Z Spoke in my hometown. I have learned over the past 10 years to trust my instinct, to have fun with experimentation and to innovate. I do not see this choice as a focus on Europe, rather, it’s about taking a risk, which is something that is important to do as a creator in order to evolve.”

Avril Lavigne to show her new collection at New York Fashion Week

By emilyborrett on August 24th, 2011

I literally never thought I’d have to write this, but apparently Avril Lavigne is set to show her latest collection for her clothing line, Abbey Dawn, at New York Fashion Week next month. … Seriously, guys? Really?

The show, which will happen on September 12th at the Style 360-Metropolitan Pavilion, will show her new collection which includes dresses, denim, sunglasses and handbags. The press release promises the event to be a “high-energy runway show”, but if her past designs, which have a majorly unappealing Ed Hardy vibe, are anything to go by then I think I’ll give this one a miss, thanks.

The “Girlfriend” singer recently spoke out about her new-found interest in fashion. “When I was younger, I dressed skater and had that whole thing going on. But as I grew up, I eventually started wearing heels and dresses. Over time, fashion choices change. Now that I’m older and have a fashion line, I’m more into fashion. I like to dress with rock ‘n’ roll elements and be casual. I like jeans with rips and skulls, but now I wear more flattering pieces. I would never have worn heels or tight trousers before, or dresses. Today, though, I enjoy it. I’ve grown up.”

Victoria Beckham is banned from wearing heels at New York Fashion Week

By emilyborrett on August 23rd, 2011

Victoria Beckham might feel a little out of her comfort zone at the upcoming New York Fashion Week, as a doctor has advised her against wearing her usual high heels at the event for health reasons.

Victoria, who has in the past confessed to not being able to live without her heels, recently suffered a slip disc after giving birth to her new baby girl Harper and has been warned by doctors to avoid stilettos and the like to stop the problem getting worse. But Dr, it’s NEW YORK FASHION WEEK! She can’t wear flats!

A source apparently close to Victoria spoke about the high-heels ban: “Victoria’s not had an easy past few weeks. But she’s a trooper and after getting the all-clear to attend Fashion Week – provided her back doesn’t significantly deteriorate – she has been advised to avoid heels. Although her heel-wearing wasn’t the cause of her back problems, stilettos don’t help her condition. Victoria has been frantically surfing the web for an acceptable pair of flats, ones which don’t make her look like a golf club.”

Mama Beckham isn’t too pleased with the prognosis, having previously expressed her hatred for wearing ballerina flats. She said: “I beyond hate ballerina flats – I can’t even walk in them.” However, she’s sucking it up and focusing on getting better for Harper and the rest of the Beckham clan.

When you get a chance, Posh, you should actually put your feet up – we can’t wait to see the new collection either.

NYFW highlights: Kelly Brook and Kelly Osbourne at the Marchesa party

By Andrea Petrou on September 16th, 2010

Kelly Osbourne has been a busy lady this week, showing her her face at a range of New York Fashion Week  events.

She made the front row at Jeremy Scott’s catwalk show and she also turned up to the Marchesa party, dressed in a ruffled dress, which looked very much like a Marchesa design, teamed up with peep toe shoes.

Red and ruffles were pick of the day for Kelly Brook who turned up in a short one shoulder satin frock, and Olivia Palermo who opted for this colour in a shift frock with detailed sleeves.

Molly Sims went for a cute white dress, teamed up with peep toe boots, while Natasha Bendigfield went for a sheer black frock for her night out.

NYFW celebrities at the front row: Alexa Chung and Kelly Osbourne

By Andrea Petrou on September 16th, 2010

We’ve been giving you all the fashion fun from the New York Fashion Week catwalk, and today that’s set to continue but before we step back onto the catwalk we thought we’d give you a rundown of more celebrities who have been gracing the front row.

Alexa Chung once again made an appearance, this time for the Philip Lim  show in a black dress over a flowing cream top. Coco Rocha also opted for a black frock at the same show, which she accessorised with orange lippy (what do we think ladies, like or loathe?)

Kelly Osbourne went for a glam look in a black bustier dress teamed up with blue heels for the Jeremy Scott show and Beyonce’s sister Solange went for a jewelled jumper for the same event.

Unsurprisingly Kelly Rowland went for the double denim look for G-Star Raw, which we predict was from the label, and Denise Richards worked the Capri pants and cardi look at the Pamella Roland show.

NYFW highlights: Tommy Hilfiger SS2011

By Andrea Petrou on September 15th, 2010

With New York Fashion Week drawing to a sad close we thought it was about time we gave a little nod to some of the trends that have come from the catwalks so far. So we’ve decided to pick out some of our favourite highlights. First up is of course Tommy Hilfiger who celebrated his 25 anniversary with a celeb fuelled party (if you missed all the pictures from this click here).

And his designs were just as amazing. The designer stuck to a red/white/blue theme, which was worked into cotton tweed shorts suits, or a navy and white bow-bra with a red, pleated mini-kilt.

And he didn’t forget his preppy roots either. Cream oversized cricket sweaters trimmed with red, and of course the classic mac was transformed right into Hilfiger SS2011 style, graced the catwalk. Pleated skirts, long, slinky silk jersey gowns, featuring cut-outs or bow-ties at the back were all little treats we can probably expect to see channelled on the highstreet next year.

New York Fashion Week star style: SJP, Christina Hendricks and Jennifer Lopez

By Andrea Petrou on September 14th, 2010

The fashion elite have preened, pouted and donned their best heels for a range of various events at NY Fashion Week either sitting in the front rows of shows or tuning up for parties.

Sarah Jessica Parker turned up at the Diane Von Furstenberg show looking her usual glam self in a cute off the shoulder cherry print gypsy dress, while Nicky Hilton opted for an on-trend leopard print mini dress for the same event. They were joined in the front row by fashion queen Anna Wintour who opted for a classic print maxi dress teamed up with a mac and pearl necklace.

Carmen Electra showed off her, er, assets in a striped dress at Zac Posen while Jennifer Lopez went for a funky black dress and knee high patent boots for Tommy Hilfiger’s 25th anniversary party. She was joined by Kelly Osbourne who opted for a 60s print dress and Mad Men star Christina Hendricks who showed off her curves in a black plunge neck frock.

Rumer Willis also joined the fashion parade at the same event in a classic satin blue long dress.
Milla Jovovich also made an appearance at NYFW posing for photographers in a long blue top, leggings and cage gladiators.

This week’s worst dressed celebrities: Heidi Klum, Jordan and more

By Andrea Petrou on September 10th, 2010

By Emily Borrett.

You would have thought, what with Mercedes Benz fashion week going on in New York, and the re-opening party of Chanel’s boutique store in Soho, NYC, that no one would have dared put a fashion foot wrong. And certainly not Heidi Klum. Well, she’s all surprised us with a complete stonker (or stinker, tee hee) of an outfit at the final catwalk show for Project Runway. The same can be said for fashion designer Betsey Johnson.. more of that in the gallery below.

Less surprisingly was that the Brits have been letting the side down as usual. And it’s the same bevy of glamour girls and soap actresses. Jordan and Tracey Emin, I’m looking at you. You put old Blighty to shame.

If you want to put in your two cents about this week’s shameful dressers, vote in the poll below and leave your comments. We want to know which turkey of an outfit gets your vote.

Red is the colour of sin, and this certainly is a sinful outfit. Not in a sexy, decadent way - more in a headteacher-at-a-parent's-evening way.

Front Row Style: Which fashion capital wears it best?

By Lauren Bravo on March 15th, 2010

wenn5356916.jpgSo, the calendar’s four main fashion weeks are wrapped up for another season.

Autumn Winter 2010 has been an exciting run of collections, and while we’ve been watching intently to spot our favourite upcoming trends, we’ve got to admit our attention hasn’t always been on the designers. At times we’ve had half an eye on the catwalk, and half an eye on that all-important hot seat of style, the front row.

Yes, sometimes the outfits in the audience can be just as compelling as the clothes on the runway (and a darn sight more wearable too). The star quality of their front row has become an unofficial measure of a designer’s up-and-comingness, with magazines playing Spot the Celeb and numerous show late to start because one key attendee is yet to arrive – Grace Coddington reportedly walked in so late at Valentino that she was greeted by a chorus of boos from waiting photographers. Tsk tsk.

There’s also plenty of gossip potential to be had in the seating arrangements, as movie stars and aristocrats bump knees with artists, editors, politicians and trustfund tweenies. We see the pictures and like to imagine the conversations – do Samantha Cameron and Pixie Geldof swap recipes over their Vitamin Waters? When did Beth Ditto and Bella Freud become mates? Just what were Jennifer Saunders and Melanie Blatt discussing at Betty Jackson? An All Saints/Ab Fab team-up? Oh, the intrigue. Oh, the possibilities.

wenn2747535.jpgAnd oh, oh, the clothes. Front rowers are an endless source of outfit inspiration, particularly useful when they act as translation guides for some of the looks coming down the catwalk. We’d still be lost as to how to work double denim if it wasn’t for Alexa Chung‘s tireless tuition (mix stonewash with indigo, and voluminous shirts with skintight jeggings to avoid looking too much like a Van Halen tribute band on a dress down Friday). Meanwhile, Christopher Kane’s floral leather dresses just make so much more sense when you can scan from the models to the benches and picture the whole look on Emma Watson.

Crucially, those front row photos are also important for demonstrating the cultural variations in the season’s dressing. Or, to speak in snappy alliteration: Who Wore What, Where? Because while the same faces might pop up in every capital (that means you, Ms Chung), each city has its own defining look.

Here’s our ShinyStyle lesson in fashion geography – pay attention, you may be tested on this next season:

London“Anarchy in the UK”

The look: We’re known for our scruffy breed of dressed-down glam, and this year the Brit pack didn’t disappoint. Think visible roots in tousled hair, hulking statement shoes, lots of black, metallics, and a typically eclectic mix of leather, denim, lycra and lace.

The key outfit: Biker jacket, minidress, lame leggings and platforms, accessorised with a scarlet scowl.

The front-row faces: Alexa Chung, Pixie Geldof, Daisy Lowe, Mischa Barton, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.

The secret weapon: Baptiste dry shampoo, for hair that says, “I haven’t been home” (buy it here).

Paris“Chirpy shirty chic chic”

The look: Gorgeous Gaelic nonchalance as only the French can do it (though the rest of us can try). Lots of crisp white tailoring and utility styles, with statement coats and long, glossy manes.

The key outfit: Cropped, slim-fit cargo pants, the perfect white t-shirt, fitted boyfriend blazer and classic stilettos, with a little furry something to keep out le chill.

The front-row faces: Vanessa Paradis, Lou Doillon Leigh Lezark, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld.

The secret weapon: Vanish stain remover, to keep those shirts whiter-than-white (spillages are très Anglaise).

Milan“La Dolce Vita, baby”

The look: Va-va-voom Italian insouciance, with animal prints, metallics, shots of vibrant colour and big, big hair. Belissima.

The key outfit: A cocktail dress in a sumptuous colour, leopard print coat, spindly heels, killer clutch and sunglasses.

The front row faces: Margherita Missoni, Lindsay Lohan, Zoe Saldana, Rachel Zoe.

The secret weapon: Lipstick. The bolder the better, preferably in a coral hue as a nod to the summer’s beachy palette – check out these.

New York“XOXO, Front Row…”

The look: Gossip Girl grows up. Impossibly glossy and impeccably groomed, with all emphasis on mixing textures and fabrics, with understated shapes and statement accessories.

The key outfit:
Tulip skirt in a scrunch fabric, teamed with suede ankle boots, a silk blouse, a cropped jacket and a blowdry.

The front row faces: Olivia Palermo, Taylor Momsen, Whitney Port, the Olsen twins.

The secret weapon: Nail varnish in a fudgey colour, for on-trend Upper East Side talons. Find your perfect shade here.

Sarah Jessica Parker shows her support at Halston’s AW2010 show in New York

By Andrea Petrou on February 16th, 2010
Sarah Jessica Parker, New Creative Director Stops By Halston Show

Sarah Jessica Parker looked every inch the fashionista we’ve all grown to know and love her as she stopped by the New York Halston fashion show yesterday.

The SATC actress and newly appointed creative director of Halston went to show her support for the brand dressed in a shiny metallic Halston 80s style gold satin blouse with a modern waisted belt twist.

She teamed this up with black satin ankle trousers and cute black and beige sandals.

And judging how well she wears the brand’s blouse its no surprise she’s also been the face of Halston since September.
