Making a fashion come back was Lindsay Lohan who showed off a white frock that matched her almost white bleach blonde hair, while Gossip Girl Leighton Meester went for a black dress with a faux fur skirt.

Adding some colour to the night was Sarah Jessica Parker who went for a flowing pale pink frock teamed with a biker jacket while Nicky Hilton went for a cute white lace dress.

This awards season one trend has really made a stand and that’s the white dress.

However, unlike last seasons, this frock has been transformed from the white wedding ball style gown into a sleek straight number seen on the likes of Angelina Jolie, Jessica Biel, Kelly Osbourne and hundreds more A-listers.

Some give a nod to the sixties with short hems and lace, while others are more seventies with billowing sleeves and sparkles. We can’t wait to see what other trends emerge on the red carpet later on this year.

Last night’s 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards was another great red carpet style event with a huge number of celebrities putting their best fashion feet forward.

So much so that over here at Shiny towers we struggled to narrow down a list of the ten best dressed, especially considering that the Glee ladies took up almost half of the places.

The stars have clearly been attending style school with Jayma Mayes, Lea Michele and Naya Rivera all making the grade last night.

Also included in our top ten was Angelina Jolie whose trademark black dress blew us away, as well as Emily Blunt who added some colour to the red carpet with a green rouched frock.

Tulisa

We usually can’t wait for the NTA Awards here at Shiny Towers. It’s a great excuse to laugh at all the garish and, if we’re being blunt, tackiest  red carpet dresses of the year.

However, this year, with the exception of Tulisa who went for a bright pink netted tutu style frock, the dresses have been as sophisticated as other awards ceremonies.

And not even the cast of TOWIE let the side down with Lydia Bright going for a gorge black frock, Sam in a long nude sequined number and Lauren Pope in a similar frock.

However Lauren Goodger let her cast mates down with an ill fitting silver number.

Also making a fashion stand was Michelle Keegan and Rita Simons, while Lara Stone’s simple black frock also deserves a mention.

Also following this trend was Nicole Richie who bought the look bang into this season with a high ponytail. However, there were other trends also spotted when it came to beauty.

Angelina Jolie and Claire Danes emulated classic Hollywood chic with pale foundation and statement red lips, while Zooey Deschanel went all 60s with a blunt fringe and heavy eyeliner.

The Golden Globe awards are one of the hottest places to spot those best dressed A-listers and last night didn’t disappoint.

Standing out on the red carpet were Angelina Jolie, Kate Beckinsale and Nicole Richie who all went for subtle white and metallic frocks.

They were joined by Claire Danes who went for a very 60s monochrome frock, Mila Kunis in a black dress and Lea Michele who went for a gorge silver number.

Also making a stand were Dianna Agron and Reese Witherspoon who both opted for fiery red dresses. See the gallery above for our best dressed.

The Duchess of Cambridge looked stunning as she stepped out for the War Horse premiere in a black lace Alice Temperley fishtail dress complete with a plunging neckline.

She kept her trademark waves dry with a large clear circular umbrella and finished off her look with a small black clutch bag.

According to sources, Kate had the kleenex out from the beginning of the weepy film directed by Steven Spielberg. We hope she didn’t smudge her make up.

The Christmas party season is over, the sales are on and spring fashion colours are peeping through on the highstreet. However, the best thing about this month is of course the Golden Globe awards, which are guaranteed to bring out some of the best and worst dressed stars in Hollywood.

There’s only ten days left until we get to see all of this year’s red carpet style but to celebrate the huge event we’ve decided to take a look back at some of 2011′s fashion disasters.

Making the list is Leighton Meester who opted for a Burberry frock that couldn’t decide which trend it wanted to channel. Then there’s Helena Bonham Carter – don’t shoot us – whose glasses mixed with an over patterned frock made her look more silly than stylish.

And let’s not forget Halle Berry and January Jones who both showed us why it’s sometimes best to cover up at such events. Less is sometimes not more ladies.

Kate Middleton-The Duchess of Cambridge- shines in an Alexander McQueen gown

The Duchess of Cambridge shunned the highstreet but still stole the style show at the Sun Military Awards earlier this evening.

Kate looked stunning and added a touch of Christmas sparkle in a long black velvet fishtail Alexander McQueen gown with frill trim detailing around the bust.

Joining the Royals on the red carpet was The Only Way is Essex stars Amy Childs who went for a purple rouched frock with lace detailing at the bust and a split, and Lydia Rose Bright who added a touch of vintage in a white 40s style dress with embroidery detailing on the shoulders.

Louise Redknapp went for a silver sparkly number while Alesha Dixon looked hot in an off white ruffled dress.
And Little Mix once again showed off their kooky style in a mix of black dresses and white trousers.

The Inbetweeners girls stole the fashion prize at last night’s British Comedy Awards.

Hannah Tointon looked stunning in a black one shoulder frock, which she teamed up with an on-trend leopard print coat, while her co-star Emily Atack went for a short gold sequined dress.

Also making a stylish stand on the red carpet was Gavin and Stacey’s Ruth Jones who shone in a simple long navy dress, while red carpet veteran Dame Helen Mirren looked great in a black star print frock.
KT Tunstall added some punk into the fashion mix with a fringed top teamed up with skinny black trousers and Paloma Faith went for her statement vintage look in a 40s style pink skirt suit and netted hat.
