ShinyStyle’s ed goes on maternity leave

By Andrea Petrou on July 28th, 2011

As many of you already know I’m joining the celebrity trend of having a baby.

That’s right, next month I’ll have a little bundle of joy that I’ll no doubt be trying to give a celebrity style name to, although I draw the line at putting numbers in there – no offence Victoria Beckham.

Of course with such a big change I’m going to need some adjusting so I’m taking a little bit of leave, which starts today.
However, fear not as I’ll be back in October to continue with all the fashion news and gossip.

In the meantime, while I suffer from fashion withdrawl, I’ll leave you in the very capable hands of the Shiny team and the lovely Emily Borrett.

See you in October!

ShinyStyle’s ed is having a baby.. we look at the celebrities channelling the baby trend this year

By Andrea Petrou on May 26th, 2011

I’ve always liked to think that I’m on the ball when it comes to the latest fashions and it seems mother nature thinks so too, putting me slap bang into the hottest celebrity trend of 2011 – pregnancy.

That’s right, come August I’ll be joining Hollywood’s A-listers and introducing a new addition to the Shiny family in the shape of a Cath Kidston clad little boy.

However, whilst I hope to be a yummy mummy, I can guarantee I won’t be snapping straight back into stick thin shape like Abbey Clancy, nor have I remained super skinny like Victoria Beckham.

In fact I’ve embraced my bump in the same way as Natalie Portman, Kate Hudson and Selma Blair, and even found some gorgeous maternity clothes.

But that’s enough about me. View the gallery below to see who I’m joining  on the pregnancy front.

Emily says hello to Shiny Style

By emilyborrett on July 7th, 2010

As you may have read, Shiny Style’s editor, Andrea Petrou, has jetted off on her holidays for a fortnight (lucky her). We didn’t want to leave our readers with no articles for a whole two weeks, so until Andrea gets back I’ll be filling in for her.

Let me introduce myself properly – I’m Emily, a textiles artist and shopper for Britain. Being a bargain-lover (i.e. a skint student) I’m a firm believer that the clothes you wear don’t have to have a hefty price tag to be fashionable. This belief will probably go straight out of the window if I ever have enough cash for a walk-in wardrobe full to the rafters with Chanel and Missoni, but for now, like most other girls, I’m making do with the high street and hand-me-downs.

To me, fashion is all about being yourself and having fun with it. Women shouldn’t be afraid to be bold with their fashion choices, which is why I have a lot of respect for celebrities such as Grace Jones, Debbie Harry and Lady Gaga. I’m not quite ready to start dressing like a lobster or putting coke cans in my hair just yet, but give me a couple of months.

YouTube Watch: Shiny Fashion TV

By Andrea Thatcher on July 23rd, 2007

For our first edition of YouTube Watch here at ShinyStyle, we’re going to cheat a little bit and share with you the Shiny Fashion TV channel from our British older sisters, Catwalk Queen, Shoewawa, and The Bag Lady. But we’re not cheating you out of great fashion videos – because these are the best! From product reviews to reports on new lines like Kate Moss for Topshop the day it happened, Shiny Fashion TV videos show you what’s happening now in fashion. And we’re not bragging, because we had nothing to do with them. But, we do plan to be bringing you similarly entertaining and informative fashion videos each week. Something you’re dying to see? Something great happening in your city? Let us know in the comments!
