An adult acne treatment that works

By shinychris on December 7th, 2012

If you suffer from adult acne or skin breakouts then you’ll already know the change in season can aggravate these problems; making the cold months a truly miserable time. When the weather turns, your skin is constantly bombarded with wind, rain and freezing conditions. There is little solace in your home either, where central heating will leave your skin dry and irritated.

When you’re not happy with your appearance it can really affect the way you feel about yourself and lead to low self-esteem – but there is an easy way to treat your skin without smothering it with various lotions and potions which may contain perfumed chemicals that do more harm than good.

A treatment you can rely on

Most acne sufferers have usually tried the main treatment options to get their skin under control. These can often be expensive, time consuming and, when they don’t work, stressful.

Tria Blue light is a fantastic gadget that eradicates acne and improves the appearance of the skin. In fact, Tria Blue Light for acne is so successful that it’s even become a favourite amongst celebrities.

Stars like Rihanna, Katherine Jenkins, Alexandra Burke and Geri Halliwell have all admitted that they love using the hand held device to improve the appearance of their skin and give them the celebrity glow they’re known for.

In a recent interview with New! Magazine, Alexandra Burke explained that Tria Beauty products like Blue Light “helps decongest my skin and gives it a radiant, natural glow” – and if it’s good enough for celebrities then it’s certainly good enough for us.

How it works

The Tria Skin Perfecting Blue Light is a hand held device that’s quick and easy to use. All you have to do is glide the device over your face for three minutes each morning and night. Its patented blue light penetrates the skin in a way no cream treatment can and eliminates the bacteria that cause breakouts and spots.

It can kill up to eight times the bacteria of similar devices and provides the most effective dose of blue light in the shortest possible time; so breakouts can be dealt with swiftly. Unlike creams, cleansers and lotions, which can cause redness, skin irritation and other harsh side effects, this treatment is gentle enough to be used every day without causing additional damage. Priced at £229 with free delivery, it’s easy on your wallet too.

The device differs from other similar medical treatments because it doesn’t use UV light which can also cause damaging side effects, especially if used over multiple sessions.

Other tips

In addition to using products such as the Tria Skin Perfecting Blue Light, it is also important that you target the cause of skin acne. This is most commonly excess sebum – a natural oil produced by your body. Whilst some individuals are more prone to acne than others, everyone can implement a few basic procedures to improve the condition of their skin.

Using a daily moisturiser free from perfume and harsh chemicals is always recommended and you should invest in one with SPF protection – regardless of the season. Keeping your skin hydrated by drinking plenty of water can also help flush out impurities and is always beneficial.

Make Christmas fabulous with Debenhams

By shinychris on November 12th, 2012

If you’re not feeling in a Christmas mood yet, you soon will be after watching Debenhams’ Christmas ad (below). Conjuring up the magic of the festive period, this beautifully shot video combines haunting Harry Potter-esque melodies with traditional festive scenes including an old locomotive train speeding through the snowy English countryside.

And while the reality may be slightly different there’s no denying it does just make you want to go out, blitz the shops and then collapse by the fire with some mulled wine and mince pies (or get dressed in some exotic lingerie if this video is to believed). Anyway, check it out below. If you don’t feel Christmasy afterwards, then you probably should be called Ebenezer Scrooge.

Classic combo: Denim shirt and chinos

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on November 2nd, 2012

Sponsored post

Like an easy life but want to stay stylish? Stick to classic combinations like a good quality denim shirt and a sharp pair of chinos and you can’t go wrong. With a lot of choice on the market, there’s no reason why you can’t kit yourself out in this easy-to-wear clothing so that you are confident you can throw them on and still look good.

Whilst the denim shirt has had a bit of a drought in terms of popularity, it is now back with a vengeance. The key to successful wearing is what you wear it with. It’s not cool to wear a washed denim shirt with the same colour jeans, of course, but there are so many other ways to wear it that you can really enjoy the comfort of the 100% cotton and the style that today’s designers are adding. Pairing your shirt with chinos, for example, makes an immediate difference, as they are completely different to jeans, and give your look a lighter, less contrived look.

You can also layer your denim shirt over a plain t-shirt of any colour, wearing it partly buttoned up or even completely open almost like a jacket. This gives you additional warmth in cooler weather but also makes your shirt more versatile. In the same way, layer it under a fine knit or a chunky cardigan to bring your look right up to date. If you’re choosing to go with Chinos, look for contrasting colours, quality fabric and a good fit, so that whilst you’re staying casual, you look like you’ve put some real thought into what you’re wearing.

And what about accessories? If you’ve got the denim shirt and you’ve got the chinos, what else do you need? Well, that depends on what you’re trying to achieve, but consider desert boots for colder weather and deck shoes when the seasons turn fine again. Both are smart, classic styles, but are practical and good looking. For smarter occasions, try tailored jackets, or heavier wool-blend coats, and have a good quality fleece or quilted jacket available when you need to spend more time outdoors.

However you choose to wear this classic combination, you can get your hands on all the elements for less than you think. A denim shirt could cost you less then £20, and chinos, shoes, knitwear and coats are all available at affordable prices both online and on your high street. So go ahead; make your day.

Oval-faced girls hit the jackpot – anything goes. Vogue, Valentino and Michelle Lane have some fabulous eyewear as a starting point. You can find all of these designer brands at

Once you have your basic shape determined, you can go crazy on colour and embellishments. Choose a colour close to your own hair colour or a high contrast colour. Then again, you can never go wrong with black. Decide on the statement you want to make then choose something you feel comfortable with, or choose several pairs of secretary glasses for different outfits. Do you want glasses that will feel right in both a business and night setting, or do you want to buy one pair for day and one for play? For night fun, secretary glasses with rhinestones or swirly cut-outs will help you stand out from the crowd. The Best Gilets this Autumn

By shinychris on October 23rd, 2012

Sponsored post

Gilets are an autumn staple. Adding an extra style touch to your look as well as keeping you snug and warm as the seasons change. Now is the perfect time to get your hands on one. If you’re not familiar with gilets, they are sleeveless jackets made in a variety of styles, materials and colours.

Some of the hottest gilets this season belong to ski wear ranges. Superdry offers a variety of colours both with and without a fur-lined hood. Superdry’s ‘University Gilet’ comes in one of this season’s biggest colours – deep red. Blonde & Blonde also offer quilted ski gilets in a range of colours.

Paul’s Boutique’s A/W range which can be found at Bank Fashion includes a selection of gilets inspired by the 80s. Diamond quilted with a cord trim collar, these gilets are statement pieces to be teamed with skinny black jeans, high tops and chunky headphones. Ghetto blaster optional.

To complement this season’s sportswear trend, Adidas have created a range of bright padded gilets. The best in the range combines black, purple, red and pink and would look perfect teamed with chunky gold accessories and skinny white jeans.

Faux Fur

Faux fur gilets have been around for the last few A/W seasons but they still look fresh and on-trend. Topshop have updated the look by adding a tassle hem and a light cream colour. Worn over a white blouse, black leather trousers and high ankle boots, these gilets will keep you warm until S/S 2013. Or try Matthew Williamson’s brown faux fur panelled gilet, it’s almost impossible to tell it isn’t real fur.

Leather is definitely the material of the season. Leather trousers or a jacket are the obvious choices but a gilet allows you to join the trend without fully committing to the leather look. A leather gilet with thin hoodie and straight light wash jeans will be a key look this season. For a dressier leather gilet, try Haider Ackermann’s long brown leather version.

Animal Print

As an extension of S/S 2012’s tribal trend, animal print will be hanging around for the new season. Alice & Olivia have created a stunning leopard print gilet that can be worn with dark jeans as a casual day outfit and dressed up with accessories and enhanced make up for the evening. Paul’s Boutique is offering an alternative animal print option with padding and a fur trim hood.

Get The Best Advice On How To Choose A Hairdresser from Windle and Moodie

By shinychris on June 29th, 2012

Sponsored post

Hair plays an important role in the female world. Many women are defined by their outer appearance. Having beautiful healthy hair is a part of the equation that women use to measure their beauty and appearance. Even though you might style your hair at home, you probably are aware that the result will not be the same as when it’s performed by a hairdresser. However, finding a good hairdresser can be a challenge nowadays.

In this article you will find out how to analyse the qualities of a good hairdresser and the fast way in which you can detect one. First and foremost, pay attention to the general atmosphere when you first enter the salon. How does the staff behave? Are they nice and friendly? Ask your friends whether they would recommend anyone in particular. Based on their interaction and their experience, you might find the best hairdresser.

Further on, you should search for a hairdresser that has a lot of practice and expertise in dealing with all types of hair. This is really important because some stylists cannot perform haircuts on curly or rasta hair. Also, as soon as you enter the salon, try to observe closely the details. The utensils they use should be clean, the products should be professional and the staff should behave professionally.

A good hairdresser is one that facilitates interaction. So, try to be open and discuss on various topics. Release the atmosphere and make the time you spend with your stylist as enjoyable as possible. Of course, this should happen from the side of both parts. The passion shown about the job itself is a good guiding point concerning the professionalism of the person styling your hair. A gifted hair styling professional will find out everything about the history of your hair. He or she will want to know whether you ever dyed your hair, how many times per week you wash it or how you brush it.

A telling sign that your hairdresser is competent is the fact that he or she is popular. People will stick with a person who can work fast and really well. They will appreciate someone who can perform creatively a haircut. So, this is also a good criteria by which you can analyse a proficient hairdresser. Other qualities include a friendly attitude, patience and attention to detail.

It takes time to find the right hairdresser but when you find it, your hair will look amazing. You can forget about all those days when you wanted to hide and simply not go out.

The desire of the  hairdressers covent garden is to deliver first class, friendly, personalized service.
