One of the absolute staples that you will definitely need this autumn is one of my favourites: the blouse. Pussybow, sheer, printed or oversized – they’re absolutely key for your Autumn/Winter wardrobe. Pick the right one and it’ll see you the whole way through to the next year.
Marc Jacobs, Jean-Paul Gaultier and Jonathan Saunders all included feminine, old-fashioned blouses that walked the line between austere and sexy in their collections. We were especially big fans of Jonathan Saunders’ jewel-coloured silk high-necked blouses, which, teamed with a skinny pencil skirt and heels, were glorious. If you want to kill two trends with one stone then opt for one in an unusual, quirky print, as pattern and shape are the two absolute key words for this season.
Our favourites? Personally, I’m a big fan of American Apparel’s illustration-print blouses and Topshop’s quirky 60s pastel-pink blouse with a peter pan collar (you know how I’m a sucker for anything disgustingly retro). Check out the gallery for our favourite blouses from the high street.
Retro t-shirts have been around for a good few years now, and we can’t see the trend dying out in the near future.
This may be because we like to have certain things that remind us of our childhood (I have a Rainbow Brite one that does exactly that) or because of the sheer number of celebs who opt for these when they want a casual look.
Hot off the retro t-shirt press is this fun and kooky Monster Munch tee by Famous Forever featuring the iconic Monster Munch bunch. And yes, I’ll definitely be getting one of these, afterall no childhood was complete without the pickled onion flavour.
Buy it now from Truffle Shuffle.
If Sesame Street was more your thing then check out our gallery for t-shirts and sweatshirts here.
With the remake of Fame hitting the big screens, we know were going to be seeing alot of 80s fashions creeping back in.
Live forever and pay tribute to the 80s movie that fueled a generation of leg-warmer-clad dancing wannabees with these Fame tees and sweaters from Truffle Shuffle.
Featuring a silhouette print of the 1980 movie logo, whether you’re a fan of the original film, the TV series or even the latest movie, it’s the perfect way to ensure you’ll never forget Leroy, leotards or those flying splits.
Prices start from £20

Models including Lily Donaldson and Lily Cole have put their faces to a new breast cancer awareness campaign “Fashion Targets Summer Fridays (FTBC)”. The initiative encourages us all to buy the Ralph Lauren-designed FTBC polo shirts, and wear them to work on Fridays. They retail for $55 each and are available from Net-a-porter. Proceeds from the T-shirts will go towards Susan G. Komen for the Cure and other FTBC-supported organizations. So, what are you waiting for? Grab yourself a Ralph Lauren polo and help the cause.

Have you checked out the The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion exhibition at the Met yet? Although you have until August 9 to visit the supermodels at the museum, Marc Jacobs is giving you one more reason to do so. He has created a specially-designed T-shirt to celebrate the exhibition. Available in red and purple, they retail for $35 each. The good news is that if you can’t make it to the Met then you can order your size online – woot!
If you’re a T-shirt kinda gal, no doubt you’ve already heard of Threadless Tees. Sure, we love their silly slogans, but plenty of brands do those. We’re more into their cute, kitchy designs like the Capistrano Spring Break, left, $15, and the “Infamous Mishaps Through History,” right, now on sale for $9. (You really need to enlarge the graphic to fully appreciate that one.)

This Colette cardigan, $59.95 down from $118, is just perfect for someone with a vintage sensibility. It would accentuate some curves nicely. The It Prada lace has nothing on this Magic Words Blouse, $49.95 down from $98. And while there are several great spring dresses on sale, my favorite is this Iskaldur dress, $149.95 down from $298. I love the color and the print, which is a really understated take on floral. Even on sale it’s not the cheapest pick, but it is 100% silk with a silk lining as well.
Last week we showed you 10 gifts under $100 (and 20 under $200 the week before that!) but now it’s time for our biggest and cheapest gift list yet. Check out the first ten items in our 50 under $50 roundup. Done your shopping? This doubles as a wish list for post-Christmas sales.
This year, we know everyone is all about the budget shopping. So we’re compiling four mega gift lists made up entirely of items that cost less than $200. This week is 20 gifts under $200, and the lists will become less expensive as the holidays approach and your money starts running out! Look out for 10 gifts under $100 next week, followed by 50 gifts under $50 and 10 gifts under $10 to fill up those stockings the week before Christmas.
What’s the gift under $200 that’s going to start us off? The Snow-Filled Sky Scarf from Anthropologie, $42. Whimsical and warm, we can’t think of a lady in our lives who wouldn’t love this colorful wool scarf.
