It’s that time of the year again. X-Factor has taken over our Saturday nights and soon we’ll be fighting over whether to watch this or Strictly Come Dancing, which may be running at the same time.
Then, once the fireworks, which always pop up to announce the X-Factor winner in December, are out, it’s time for Britian’s got Talent, America’s got Talent and American Idol. And let’s not forget all the other reality shows in between.
Currerntly Sky One is playing host to Must be the Music and Living is considering another series of it’s dance show “The time of your life” and let’s also not Dancing on Ice.
As much as we love the contestants on all of these shows, being fashion girl’s the main draw is of course the judges whose style always leaves us drawling. Of course there’s Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue but who can forget Alisha Dixon on Strictly, Charlotte Church in BBC show Over the rainbow and Kimberley Wyatt in Sky One’s Just Dance.
We’ve put together a list of our top stylish reality show judges including those guest one’s on this year’s X-Factor. Tell us who your favourite is.
Last year we became accustomed to pitting Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue against each other during each and every episode of the X-Factor.
However, with Dannii Minogue off looking after her baby it’s down to guest judges to fill her spot. And of course this has given us a great opportunity to begin an X-Factor style war. Two weeks ago Geri joined Cheryl, Simon and Louis on the panel, but if we’re honest we think Cheryl beat her hands down. However, this week the tables turned with Katy Perry making an appearance, donning a sparkly frock, which we think rivalled Cheryls military style.
We’ve therefore put together a gallery of the two and want you to tell us who you think is the most stylish. Is it Katy with her sometimes smart, sometimes quirky style? Or is it Cheryl’s designer get-up that wins your vote?
We got a little bit carried away with V Festival yesterday and in our excitement complately forgot about Saturday night’s biggest event, the X-Factor.
However, we’re hoping to redeem ourselves now with news about Cheryl Cole’s outfits. Last year the starlet caused a fashion frenzy turning up in frock made by designers such as Alexander McQueen to (some may say) that fateful disk dress by David Koma.
However, according to Vogue, this year Cheryl will be looking further afield to designers such as Matthew Williamson, Roberto Cavalli, Vivienne Westwood and rising London star Hannah Marshall, in a bid to wow the fashion world.
But if you thought Cheryl was also going to help old WAG pal Victoria Beckham promote her line, then think again.
“We don’t loan dresses. If celebrities are photographed wearing them, they have bought them,” a spokesperson for Beckham’s fashion label told the Sunday Mirror.
And we all know Cheryl is a girl after our own hearts going more for borrowing than buying when it comes to expensive frocks.
Just an evening after the Baftas and A-list celebrities, designers and models were back in their frocks to attend another red carpet event, this time it was the Elle Style Awards.
Dannii Minogue, who was presented with the best TV star award by sister Kylie, kept in with her trademark Grecian style showing off her tiny baby bump with a bright yellow long Lisa Ho frock. However she admitted she was at the stage of her preganancy where her jeans were beginning to feel slightly tight.
Kylie decided to bare a little more opting for a black YSL strapless gown.
X-Factor may be over until this Autumn but it didn’t stop the programme scooping a range of awards last night, and we couldn’t help have a last “who won the style wars” competition between the two female judges.
Pregnant Dannii opted for a 50s prom style striped dress, which she teamed up with gorgeous red shoes, while Cheryl went for an (extra) long grey frock with a plunging neckline. She finished off the look with grey 80s style cuffs.
For once we really can’t decide who looked better on the night so we’ve decided to leave that to you.
Vote below and tell us if it was Dannii or Cheryl who won your style approval last night.
We felt a little bit sorry for X-Factor contestant Lucie Jones after she was voted off in favour of the Jedward twins, but the singer has shown what being on TV can do for your career.
The singer has had a surprising new development to her future after it was announced that she’d been signed up by signed by Select Model Management.
Chrissie Castagnetti, co-founder of the agency, which has a number of supermodels on its books said: “As soon as we saw Lucie, we recognised that she had a great look.
‘As her confidence grew and her personality came through, we knew we wanted to work with her. We’re looking forward to unleashing her great potential.’
Of course the singer, who is set to shoot her portfolio in January, is thrilled.
‘I love fashion, I love beauty and I love singing, so to be able to model alongside my music is the best Christmas present ever. I can’t wait to get going next year,’ she said in an interview over the weekend.
Last night bought a new start to X Factor winner Joe but with it a sad end to the judges fashion war we’ve looked forward to and eagerly followed for the past 20 weeks.
It’s been five months of who wore the best Saturday and Sunday outfits between Dannii and Cheryl and just as we’ve seen a turn in the singing winner, we’ve also seen that in the style stakes. At the start of the series we were convinced Cheryl would out do Dannii like she did last year, but a third of the way in we saw a change in the Australian judge’s style.
While Cheryl went for more daring designs (who can forget that David Koma dress) Dannii opted for dresses by Australian designers like Ralph and Russo and Aurelio Costarella., which showed off her demure style, and appeared in the tabloids for all the right reasons.
However it seems Cheryl didn’t learn and her dresses became more and more outrageous as the series continued. The fashion furore reached its climax yesterday when the judges again went head to head in their style war. Again Cheryl demonstrated her recent love of everything deifferent in a black gothic style dress while Dannii opted for her traditional Grecian style look, and we have to say we think she nailed it. Cheryl you may have won the singing war but Dannii you’ve definitely won our hearts with your style.
Do you agree or do you think Cheryl’s fashion risks earned her the best dressed crown? Let us know by leaving your comments below.
We’ve also put together a mini gallery of the judges fashion over the X-Factor. Click on the picture below to begin.
We knew Stacey Solomon could make it into the X-Factor final, and if we’re a teeny bit honest we may have voted for her just so we can see what she’ll be wearing next week.
If last weeks clothes were anything to go by then we’re definitely in for a fashion frenzy as she not only competes with the boys in the singing stakes but also Dannii and Cheryl in the style category.
Admittedly we weren’t overly impressed with her first out fit of shorts, fishnets and a blazer, which are all must have trends in themselves, but put together looked a little bit more Pussycat Doll then the Dagenham starlet style we’ve all grown to love.
However, her ball length frock during her second performance blew us away and Stacey’s highstreet love affair continued with a gorgeous floor length gown from All Saints teamed up with a statement cuff and quirky cocktail ring.
And it seems we were wrong about Dannii having a major input in what Stacey wears.
The judge told a caller on the Xtra Factor, who complained Stacey looked like she didn’t like the outfits, that Stacey chooses what she wears and always feels comfortable.
Stylish with a good singing voice, yes we’re a little bit jealous.
We’re all aware of Dannii Minogue’s love for fashion after watching her strut onto the X Factor stage in a series of striking outfits. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise to find out that she’s now planning to launch a clothing line with her friend Tabitha Webb, founder of the handbag company Tabitha bags.
Most celebrities choose to go down the collaborative route with an existing brand, which might have something to do with the helping hand the company gives them with the designing side of things. But Dannii’s chosen to start a completely new fashion business, with their first collection planned to come out for Spring 2010.
As Dannii recently pointed out, she doesn’t have a stylist for X Factor (while Cheryl does), so maybe her fashion skills will extend to designing, too. She’s definitely been pulling off a huge variety of looks for X Factor, and has sometimes managed to put Cheryl Cole in the shade. We’re really looking forward to seeing what she comes up with: judging by these two pictured looks, a few full length gowns could well be in the collection…
It seems Alexandra Burke is following in the steps of her X-Factor predecessor when it comes to style. The songstress, who won the competition last year was spotted at the Spirit of London awards last weekend showing off the latest must-have celeb trend – the Love Bullet.
Love Bullets, which have also been spotted on the likes of Cheryl Cole, Jaime Winstone, Jodie Kidd and Pixie Geldof, is the inspirational idea of designer Martin Jegede.
The Love Bullet, worn as a necklace, is created by elegantly adorning a decommissioned bullet with a Swarovski crystal, thus transforming a thing normally associated with war and violence to something of style and peace.
And it’s also ethical with at least £1 of each Love Bullet sale donated to the charity GUA Africa, which works with individuals, families and communities in the Sudan to help overcome the poverty and destruction left by war.
We think this is a celeb trend we’ll definitely be following especially as prices start at a very reasonable £30. By it from www.lovebullets.co.uk.
Despite being an international superstar and earning a good few bob Leona Lewis shows she’s no highstreet snob.
The X-Factor winner was snapped last week looking casual, yet stylish in these gorgeous over the knee suede boots and trendy80′s style leather jackets with studded shoulders.
While most celebs in her shoes would have shunned the highstreet and opted for designer creations, Leona opted to give us all celebrity style hope.
Her jacket is a very reasonable £58 from Topshop and boots £80 from Office. Yes we’re heading to both stores right now.
Stacey Solomon is doing us proud on the X-Factor, and, if we dare say it giving the judges a run for their money when it comes to her outfits (although we’re sure Dannii has a part to play here.)
True to stylish form Stacey once again hit the fashion note on the head in two stunning outfits for last Saturdays performances.
Singing a Take That song she stepped out in a gorgeous black dress with gold detailing from, Diane Von Furstenberg. This was teamed up with shoes from Carvella and jewellery by Mawi at Start Boutique.
She then went back to evening chic for her Elton John performance wearing a red dress from Issa and shoes for LK Bennett.
Her clothing may not be from extremely pocket friendly highstreet stores, but we know Carvella and LK Bennet are definitely stores we’ll be hinting that our other halves visit this Christmas. We really hope this Dagenham starlett makes it to the final and we can’t wait to see what she’ll be wearing if she does.
The style war between Cheryl and Dannii on X-Factor looks no nearer to ending, and if reports in the News of the World are true then we’ve got a new found respect for Dannii, who claims she styles herself while Cheryl has TWO stylists.
“I know Cheryl has two stylists and I have none,” she told the News of the World. “I put a lot of work into it. I style myself. I choose all my outfits.”
She also she and Cheryl “don’t go shopping or have dinner together.”
We think she looked gorgeous on both nights this weekend, and dare we say it, better than Cheryl, in a white plunge-neck peplum white gown by J’Aton Couture with a waist-belt on Saturday and a funky J’Aton Couture dress featuring a structured hem-line and one-shoulder strap on Sunday.
Cheryl sack the stylist and invest in some shopping time with your fellow X-Factor judge, it may benefit you in the long run.
We know some of you out there hate Uggs and wellingtons but we couldn’t resist giving you a sneaky look at X-Factor’s Stacey Solomon’s boots.
Yes they’re bright, they’re yellow and they’re Uggs but we have to admit the starlett looks fantastic in them. Stacey is also a girl after own hearts, wearing a Monster Munch tee, which we got so excited about yesterday.
Buy the Ugg boots from Office or go for a waterproof alternative with these short festival style wellingtons from Hunter Boots. You won’t be missed on a dark night, and that’s guaranteed.
Dagenham starlet Stacey Solomon has managed to wow fans and stay in for another week of the X-Factor. And as her voice progresses so do her outfits.
She’s transformed from the jeans and long t-shirt girl we saw in the first few shows into an Essex princess, sporting a range of long ballgowns and sparkley dresses.
We’re not sure if the long style suits her slim frame and bubbly personality but this week we think her stylist got it spot on giving Stacey a short, yet sophisticated Suzanne Neville frock and shoes from one of our favourite highstreet stores Zara.
However we’re pleased to see that off duty Stacey still sticks to her own styling roots sporting a range of tracksuits and Uggs. It doesn’t make us feel so bad now when we have tracksuit days.
