Little Mix were crowned champions of The X Factor last night.

The girl group – made up of Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirlwall – beat off stiff competition from fellow finalist Marcus Collins to become the first band in the history of the ITV1 show to be named winners.

After a string of breathtaking performances – including a rendition of their winner’s single ‘Cannonball’ – the quartet struggled to contain their emotions as host Dermot O’Leary broke the news to them and ecstatic mentor Tulisa Contostavlos.

Jesy said: “Oh my God, this is never going to sink in. We can’t thank the public enough for picking up the phone.”

After receiving the backing of show boss Simon Cowell – who has predicted the group will be as big as the Spice Girls – Little Mix are now expected to rake in a staggering £8 million in commercial deals.

As well as their £150,000 record deal advance, the foursome are expected to bag a number of lucrative contracts with major brands.

An insider told The Sun newspaper: “Offers have been coming in for weeks now. People in marketing spend their lives looking for suitable role models. Little Mix are the full package. The trick will be knowing what to turn down.”

Meanwhile, Simon has also lined up Richard ‘Biff’ Stannard – the songwriter who helped the Spice Girls find fame – and ‘X Factor’ head judge Gary Barlow to work alongside the band.

The source added: “Simon has made no bones of the fact that he wants the best writers on board. He genuinely thinks the girls can be as big as – if not bigger than – the Spice Girls.

Janet Devlin wore a simple LBD for her first performance

Janet Devlin narrowly lost out on a place in the X Factor final last night.

The 16-year-old singer – who sensationally forgot the words to her track on Saturday’s Guilty Pleasures-themed episode – lost a sing-off against Misha B, which saw her perform a haunting rendition of Snow Patrol’s Chasing Cars.

Despite being a fan of the Irish teen throughout the competition, judge Louis Walsh said: “It’s getting tougher and tougher. I’m taking everything into consideration, judging on last night’s two performances and the sing-off. The act I’m sending home is Janet.”

Tulisa Contostavlos added: “I’m going to base my decision on the person who has a career after the show, who will sell records and sellout arenas. I’m sorry to say I’m sending home Janet.”

However, the girls’ mentor Kelly Rowland caused controversy by refusing to decide between her two acts.

She said: “I know how great these two young ladies are. Janet, I admire you as a musician and you bring something so unique to the music industry.

“I absolutely love you and adore you. Misha, my goodness girl, you just want this so bad. I have to pass it, I’m sorry.”

With host Dermot O’Leary telling the singer her failure to vote would mean Janet would leave the ITV1 show due to a majority decision, head judge Gary Barlow wasn’t even able to pick which contestant he wanted to remain in the competition.

Janet said: “I’m feeling very confused. I can’t wait to leave the show and get my music out there.”

Little Mix, Marcus Collins, Amelia Lily and Misha B will now compete in next weekend’s semi-final.

Janet Devlin wears a feathered number from River Island

Craig Colton was voted off ‘The X Factor’ last night.

The 22-year-old hopeful – who landed in the bottom two alongside Amelia Lily – fought back tears as judges Gary Barlow, Kelly Rowland, Tulisa Contostavlos and Louis Walsh took the decision to deadlock after giving the acts two votes apiece.

Following a sing-off which saw Craig perform the Shirelles’ ‘Will You Love Me Tomorrow’ and Amelia – who only re-entered the ITV1 competition last week in the wake of Frankie Cocozza’s axe – belt out a rendition of Lady Gaga’s ‘You and I’, Tulisa and Craig’s mentor Gary voted to save the Liverpool-based singer.

Criticising Amelia’s performance, Gary said: “Amelia I feel like you shouted your way through that, while Craig was understated and gorgeous.

Tulisa added: “I don’t think I’ve ever been so torn before in a sing-off. Based on tonight’s performance, I’ll send home Amelia.”

However, Louis – the only judge left with no acts left in the show – claimed the 17-year-old wannabe was a “ready-made” pop star, sending the decision to deadlock.

He said: “I’ve loved you from day one, Craig, but I think Amelia is a ready-made pop star.”

Kelly – who is mentoring Amelia, as well as Janet Devlin and Misha B- explained: “Craig, I love you. I think you are a beautiful vocalist. I’m saving Amelia.”

After learning he would be leaving the competition, Craig told Dermot he had the time of his life on the show.

He said: “I’ve had the time of my life the last few months. I’ve done myself proud.”

Meanwhile Amelia Lily has been sharing fears that her diabetes could leave her blind.

The 17-year-old singer was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes – a condition whereby sufferers have low blood sugar levels – aged three and has to inject herself with insulin daily.

She told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: “I need four injections a day and I’ve had it for 14 years now.

“It’s just become a daily routine but I still need to be careful.

“It is serious and I could end up going blind if I have too many high blood sugars.”

Amelia – who was sent home by mentor Kelly Rowland after the first live final, but voted back into the competition last week after Frankie Cocozza was axed – also has to adjust the amount she takes to counteract the adrenalin rush of appearing on the programme, which could potentially send her into a diabetes-induced coma.

She said: “I used to have fits when I was younger. I have to be careful with my bloods and adrenalin uses a lot of energy, so I need to decrease my insulin before I perform. It’s hard to get the balance right but I always decrease my insulin just before performing to be safe.”

Amelia performed Aretha Franklin’s ‘Think’ on last night’s (19.11.11) show, and admitted she has been nervous about coming back to the show after missing five weeks of live finals.

She added: “I’m feeling the pressure now because I’ve gone from not being in the show any more to being the favourite to win.

“It’s hard to handle, there’s a lot of stress and pressure.

“And you have your doubts but I’m a strong person and you have to be to be in the music industry.”

Kitty Brucknell was voted off The X Factor last night.

The controversial hopeful – who landed in the bottom two alongside Misha B – took on head judge Gary Barlow’s advice and stripped everything back with her sing-off performance of ‘Over The Rainbow’ following Saturday night’s Lady Gaga and Queen-themed episode.

However, after failing to connect with the public throughout the competition, only Kitty’s own mentor, Louis Walsh, voted to keep her in the ITV1 show over Misha, who performed a rendition of Jessie J’s ‘Who You Are’.

Tulisa Contostavlos told the pair: “I think you are both amazingly talented, but I would rather buy Misha’s albums.”

Gary added: “Can I just say first? What an amazing sing-off. If you were to ask me two people who wanted this the most, it would be Misha and Kitty.

“Kitty, it’s got to be the likeability factor, because you sing and perform incredibly. Misha, if I took all the acts to a record label, you would be the first to be signed. The act I’m sending home is Kitty.”

However, the blow of leaving the competition was perhaps softened for former Lady Gaga impersonator Kitty after her idol – who performed her new track ‘Marry The Night’ on the results show – rushed on stage for an emotional embrace with the hopeful while she was being interviewed by Olly Murs and Caroline Flack on ‘The Xtra Factor’.

After comforting Kitty – who burst into a rendition of Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’ when she heard she would be leaving the competition – the 25-year-old pop superstar took her backstage to her dressing room to hand her some career advice.

An insider told The Sun newspaper: “Gaga couldn’t believe Kitty had been axed and thought she was one of the most talented and exciting acts in the competition.

“She thought that Kitty had been misunderstood and it reminded her of her own struggles to be accepted.”

Meanwhile not is all well in the girls camp. Janet Devlin has reportedly fallen out with her ‘X Factor’ mentor Kelly Rowland.

The 16-year-old hopeful is said to be furious that Kelly is devoting all her time to her other act Misha B and ignoring her, and thinks it will only get worse now Amelia Lily has been voted back into the competition.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Kelly spent a lot of last week promoting her own album and so didn’t have much time for her girls. The little she did have went on helping Misha and Janet felt very left out.

“Then there was a plan for the three of them to see Tinie Tempah and when Janet said she didn’t want to go, Kelly made it clear she was pleased that it would just be her and Misha. She actually said, ‘Good’ when she heard Janet wasn’t going.

“Now Janet feels unloved and ignored. She is convinced that Kelly will devote all her time to Misha and Amelia and none to her.”

As well as Janet and Kelly falling out, judges Gary Barlow and Tulisa Contostavlos have also clashed after the Take that star criticised her girl group, Little Mix, on Saturday, calling their performance “predictable”.

An insider said: “Tulisa can’t believe Gary is trying to take the credit for Little Mix trying a new style next week. Tulisa made it quite clear that she doesn’t need his help when it comes to knowing what’s best for the group.

“He may be in a successful band, but so is she, and Tulisa really thinks he is getting above himself in the ego department.”

It was a weekend of fights, fashion and shocks on the X Factor.
Tulisa and Kelly both went for white frocks on Sunday’s results nights, while on Saturday Kelly went for a long red dress and Tulisa a one shoulder little black number.

Misha B channelled the masculine trend in black trews and a white top, while Little Mix added a Katy Perry tech touch to their looks with LED lighting.

Over on the competition front Johnny Robinson and The Risk were voted off ‘The X Factor’ in a double elimination.

The four-piece boyband – made up of Charlie Healy, Andrew Merry, Ashford Campbell and Derry Mensah – were the first to leave the ITV1 show after receiving the lowest number of public votes, with mentor Louis Walsh then having to decide between his acts Johnny and Kitty Brucknell.

In the final sing-off between Johnny and Kitty, the controversial blonde performed a rendition of Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Beautiful Disaster’ while Johnny sang ‘Unchained Melody’.

Louis was the first judge to pick which act to send home, and tearfully chose Johnny to leave, saying: “They’ve been incredible to work with. They were both incredible in the sing-off.

“I have to pick the person who I think in the real world who would get a recording act and the act I’m going to have to send home is Johnny.”

Tulisa, Gary Barlow and Kelly Rowland agreed, praising Kitty’s ability to reinvent herself, forcing Johnny out of the competition.

A perky Johnny – who has performed versions of Madonna’s ‘Hung Up’ and Kylie Minogue’s ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’ – accepted his fate well, saying: “I want thank everyone who have got behind me. All the judges, everyone out there in the UK who accepted me for just being me.”

It was all go in this week’s X Factor with Sami Brookes being voted out, Tulisa and Kelly’s dresses and claims that Misha B was bullying housemates.

Sami found herself in the bottom two against Kitty Brucknell in last night’s results show, with three of the judges – including Louis Walsh, who mentored both women – opting to send her home and only Tulisa wanting to save her following her rendition of Aretha Franklin’s hit A Natural Woman.

Refusing to send the vote to deadlock when it stood 2-1 in Kitty’s favour, Louis said: “I love both girls, but Kitty, you’re not connecting with the public for some reason. Sami, you were incredible, you sang your heart out. Do I go with my head? Do I go with my heart?

“I’m going to go with my heart and the person I’m going to have to send home is Sami.”

Despite being voted off, Sami has vowed to carry on pursuing her musical dream.

She said: “I may not be able to sell a million albums, but I am going to sing for the rest of my life.”

Meanwhile, it has emerged that Sami was the person Louis was referring to when he complained on Saturday’s live show that Misha B had been bullying one of his acts.

The outspoken teenager reportedly upset Sami during a night out at London’s Hard Rock Café, where she told her rival she was not in the “top four” of finalists and then pushed in front of her as photographers took pictures of the group.

They are said to have had a row the next day, which left Sami in tears.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “Misha muscled in the way of Sami to grab the limelight.”

Misha’s mentor Kelly Rowland was furious over Louis’ comments, which came as Tulisa accused her of being “mean” to other hopefuls.

A show source said: “Kelly came off set with steam pouring out of her ears.

“She demanded to speak to producers and screamed, ‘How the hell did you let her get away with that.’ She said she felt she’d been stitched up as they could have tackled any issues with Misha off air and not aired their dirty laundry in front of millions of viewers. She was trembling with rage.”

Misha later admitted she had been a bully in the past, but insisted she is a different person now.

She said: “At school I was bullied – and I did bully people myself, but I am a different person now.

“Saturday’s experience will make me stronger. I really looked up to Tulisa and the way she goes on about girl power, but I feel the situation could have been dealt with a lot better.

“Being called an ‘X Factor’ bully on live TV was not fair. I know I am not a bad person.”

Over on the fashion side, Kelly Rowland stole the show on Saturday in a leather mini dress from Topshop – we want- while Tulisa shone in a green sequined dress by D&G in last night’s show.

It was a sad night yesterday as four acts were voted off the X Factor. Amelia Lily was voted off in the girls category meaning we may have lost the rock chic styling, while 2 Shoes got axed from the groups meaning we won’t be seeing any Essex Girl fashions for the rest of the series.

Both Kelly and Tulisa were reduced to tears as they delivered their verdicts.

However, while all the acts were visibly devastated to be axed from the competition without their talents being put to the public vote, 16-year-old Amelia Lily couldn’t hold back the tears as she was delivered her fate by mentor Kelly.

The young hopeful – who performed a rendition of Michael Jackson’s ‘Billy Jean’ – later warned other teens about the pressure in reaching the live stages of the competition.

Speaking on ITV2 spin-off show, she said: “It’s a lot of pressure to take on and anyone who wants to audition next year, prepare yourself.”

Amelia has now reportedly shunned Kelly – who chose to save Janet Devlin, Sophie Habibis and Misha Bryan – as she was so “horrified” at getting the boot.

An insider told The Sun newspaper: “Amelia’s complete devastation was hard to watch. She looked broken like she was going to collapse. The whole studio felt awful, Kelly was horrified at the effect her words had had.

“Amelia pushed past all the cameras, she just wanted to be alone from the looks of things. Kelly was trying to help her but Amelia didn’t want to speak to her.”

Rhythmix, The Risk and Nu Vibe now make up the Groups category, while Janet Devlin, Sophie Habibis and Misha Bryan are left of the Girls.

However, we’re far more concerned about what they were wearing.

X Factor mania has officially gripped us with everybody talking about the final 16 and the “twist”.

However, over here at ShinyStyle we’re far more excited about all the style we can expect to see from both the judges and the female contestants in the upcoming weeks.
To get us in the mood for the next few months we’ve decided to take a look at the styles Tulisa and Kelly Rowland have been channelling so far, and dare we say they are fairly similar.

Both have been spotted in red dresses and black jumpsuits as well as sequined numbers. However, they both have very different takes. Kelly so far has bought in sophistication while Tulisa has bought in a more urban feel. We can’t wait to see what outfits the live shows bring.

We all know that dip-dyeing (the ends of your hair being lightened for a surfer girl look) is a big hair trend at the moment, but we’re not sure about the streaky chunks of blonde at the top of Tulisa’s hair.. Maybe it’s just us but we thought that streaky hair was finally a thing of the past – but maybe that’s just us. Personally we preferred the N-Dubz singer’s dark chocolatey locks..
