Get the look: Cheryl Cole’s X-Factor ring

By Andrea Petrou on November 9th, 2009

chryl.JPGWe never thought we’d be able to afford anything Cheryl Cole wore on the X-Factor, especially her jewellery but it seems as though all our Christmases have come at once.

Last night the style icon appeared on the show without her wedding ring but instead a stunning ring (aptly named On the Rocks) from the Daniel Swarovski 20th anniversary collection.

We must say we were eyeing it up with a certain amount of jealousy, but now we know we can buy it for £303, we’re much happier. It’s definitely something we’ll be putting on our Christmas list.

Get the look: Dannii’s X-Factor grecian style dress

By Andrea Petrou on November 9th, 2009

Dannii.jpgWe’ve concentrated so much on Cheryl over the past few weeks that we’ve neglected to mention how good Dannii looks on this year’s X-Factor.

However after her stylish appearances on both Saturday’s and Sunday’s shows, we feel she really deserves to be mentioned in our X-Factor style series.

While Cheryl opted for little dresses in black and red for both days, Dannii really shone through with a white Grecian off the shoulder frock on Saturday, which was designed by Ralph and Russo.

The 1970′s inspired white silk dress, which had a thigh high split and swarovski crystal buckled shoulder sash, cost a bank breaking £1950, but we’ve had a hunt around and found this white frock with a corsage strap from Debenhams, which won’t have you begging for an overdraft at £100.

Team up with a belt and sew on some crystals for an X-Factor style look.

Alexandra Burke photographed for Wonderland in black leather and eyeliner

By lotte on November 6th, 2009

Reality stars are making more and more of an impression in the rarified world of fashion magazines. Alexandra Burke has been shot for the December ‘British talent’ issue of Wonderland magazine by Mariano Vivanco, following in the footsteps of previous X Factor winner, Leona Lewis, who made the cover of i-D Magazine last December. Cheryl Cole was on the cover of UK Vogue earlier this year, another former reality star who’s gained credibility in the fashion industry. And who could forget Susan Boyle in Harper’s Bazaar (that one’s a joke).

Alexandra looks great, but the edgy styling is the sort we’ve seen plenty of recently – black leather can only be so exciting. Let’s hope her next shoot is more original.

Get the X-Factor contestant look: Lucie Jones

By Andrea Petrou on November 4th, 2009

Lucie.jpgYesterday we bought you information about Stacey Solomon’s Saturday night outfit, which she showed off on the X-Factor stage.

But we know that there are many other contestants who look just as good strutting their stylish stuff up on stage.

Lucie Jones rocked out in a gorgeous bodice and tight jeans , which we could only get away with if we worked out at the gym.

However, we know many of you would look fantastic in an outfit like this, and again, you’ll be pleased to know, it won’t cost you a fortune either.

With the exception of the bodice, which was custom made (although we’ve seen similar in River Island) Lucy’s boots, shirt and jeans were all from All Saints. Rock on down there now.

Get the X-Factor contestant look: Stacey Solomon

By Andrea Petrou on November 3rd, 2009

Stacey.jpgWho’s your X-Factor favourite? Is it Lloyd with his cute floppy hair or Joe with his cheeky smile? Or do you like the older rocker type like Jamie?

Personally I’m rooting for Stacey. The Dagenham born starlett has everything going for her, she can sing (obviously), and as a bubbly personality. She also looks great in a tracksuit when she’s off X-Factor duty (she’s definitely a girl after our own fashion hearts) but great on the stage too.

Especially when she’s casually styled like she was last Saturday. We’re sure you’ll be pleased to hear that most of her clothing, which was styled around the tassel rock theme was extremely affordable.

Her tassle waistcoat was probably the most expensive item, and came from All Saints, her sparkly dress and necklace were Warehouse and her shoes were from the trusty Topshop.

We just hope she keeps up with the highstreet look when she becomes famous.

X-Factor: Cheryl Cole’s weekend fashion round up

By Andrea Petrou on November 2nd, 2009

If you’re a regular reader of ShinyStyle then you’ll know how much we admire the female judges style on X-Factor. So much so, that we’ve decided to start a new series. From now until the live final we’ll be putting together a round up on the judges outfits and giving you advice on where you can buy similar.

This week it’s Cheryl’s turn. We must admit we were slightly disappointed with Cheryl’s style this weekend.

The usually stylish judge turned up on Saturday sporting a £1,500 bizarre mini, fan style dress by up and coming designer David Koma and showed off slightly more than she intended to to Simon Cowell.

We’re all for unique fashion, but we think this frock, which looks as though someone has stuck two alloy wheels onto the bust area, is going slightly too far.

We were also disappointed in Ms Cole’s choice of outfit yesterday, which included sparkly tight black trousers, which would have looked more at home in a 70s club, then on the X-Factor stage.

However, no-one can fault those black thigh high boots she teamed Saturday night’s frock horror up with. We’ve put together a gallery of look-a-likes.

Cheryl Cole’s and Dannii Minogue’s outfits on X-Factor make Simon Cowell growl

By Andrea Petrou on October 30th, 2009

Dannii_Minogue and Cheryl_Cole.jpgIt seems that Simon Cowell is unhappy about Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue becoming fashion and style icons right under his nose during X-Factor.

According to X-Factor insiders the grumpy judge, who could be taught a lesson or two about fashion, reminded the girl’s earlier this week, that it was a talent and not a fashion show they were on.

We’re not sure why Mr Cowell is having a growl about this, instead we think he should take a leaf out of these stylish girl’s books and start dressing in a manner that would have our men wanting to copy his look.

Failing that he should just be thankful that his female judges are generating so much extra press with their fashion choices.

We’ve decided to ignore Mr Cowell’s criticism and starting on Monday we’ll be bringing you all the latest style news from the weekend’s shows including a gallery of similar outfits the girl’s were wearing.
