We’ve seen him gatecrash Milan Fashion Week and do bizarre things in the second row at Stella McCartney‘s Paris show, but until now, we haven’t been sure how this footage was going to come together to create something which could rival Borat in the funny stakes.
By the looks of this trailer, Bruno – the camp journalist from Austria, otherwise known as comedian Sacha Baron Cohen – is going to more than rival it, as he takes on the fashion world, creates carnage backstage at shows and adopts an African baby Madonna-style. Be warned, this isn’t for the faint of heart and an age restriction does apply if you want to watch it.
Gossip Girl fashion infused with a little bit of rock ‘n roll? That’s my favorite style. So I’m all about the looks in this video from Ford Models TV, how about you? Making me want to wear my rnew ocker chic booties everywhere. Maybe I will.
The weekend brought with it the return of MTV’s newly-revived House of Style. The TV show, which had many of us glued to our screens in the late ’80s/early ’90s, has now partnered with Teen Vogue to bring us all latest from the world of fashion.
Starring Bar Rafaeli and Chanel Iman as co-hosts, the show’s weekend debut prompted mixed reactions from viewers, who felt it was too scripted and perhaps a little too geared towards the teen-set (erm… friendship bracelets, really?!). Here is a snippet from episode one, featuring Rafaeli interviewing Justin Timberlake on the eve of his New York Fashion Week show for William Rast. Click play on video above to watch.
This is unbelievable! Chaos erupted at the New York auditions for America’s Next Top Model on Saturday. The trouble began when a car overheated and blew smoke, causing someone to cry out “There’s a bomb!” This prompted thousands of model hopefuls to become trampled in a stampede and a fight breaking out amongst the crowd. Two women and a man were arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and inciting a riot, and six women required medical attention. Others claimed bad organisation and the inability to leave the queue to go to the toilet and get food was also to blame. The audition was shut down, however neither Tyra Banks or ANTM reps have commented. Click play on video above to watch the chaos unfold.
Cameras have been following everyone who is anyone around this season. From Coco Rocha for E! to a permanent crew shadowing Anna Wintour’s every footsteps, it seems the key accessory for Fall 2009 might just be a video camera. French Vogue‘s Carine Roitfeld has been the subject of a CNN profile, which has traced her movements around Milan and Paris fashion weeks for its Revealed programme. A sneak peek of that forthcoming show, scheduled to air here on the 18th March at 4:30 am EST, has surfaced online. Click play on the clip above to watch. [via Fashionologie]
P.S. Don’t despair if you miss it, repeat scheduling is expected – click here to find out the times.
For months we have been intrigued by film stills of Coco Avant Chanel, the latest movie homage to Coco Chanel. Now a trailer of the film, starring Audrey Tautou and Alessandro Nivola, has been released online. Due to première in France on 22nd April, there is no official début date for the U.S. at this stage. Likewise, there are no English subtitles on this trailer, but it is still worth a watch to see Tautou take on the role of the Chanel in her heyday. Click play on video above to watch.
Chic.tv caught up with Tanya D backstage at New York Fashion Week and got this pretty great interview with her. I love her hair and eye makeup, and oh yeah, all the model chat.
Forget walking in ridiculous sky-high heels, models at the Brian Reyes show kicked off their specially-designed Manolo Blahniks for the finale and went barefoot instead. After several stumbles and three models stopping to take off their stilettos, they forfeited footwear all together to close the show. Besides this misstep (ha!) the collection itself was a cohesive display of tailored separates including belted dresses, stone-coloured suits, bronze jumpsuits and mulberry shifts.
Things were of a very sharp, sartorial nature at the Narciso Rodriguez fall ’09 show on Tuesday evening. Dipping into the future (like so many designers this season) his models took to the catwalk in robot-style peek-a-boo headwear. Body-con dresses in acid yellow, shocking pink and neon purple offered a hint of skin in sliced sections. They were thrown alongside more tailored, conservative looks in camel coats and tweed skirt suits. Jackets also ranged from jaquard to mohair with full-length zips. Besides a hint of Gothic lace and a shiny corset here and there, the most daring was left to a camouflage black-and-white print worked into dresses, trousers, boots and just about everything else. Click play on video below to watch.
Everyone loves a bit of Eighties rock ‘n’ roll and that’s why we *heart* Miss Sixty. The front row was adorned with young starlets including Mischa Barton, Kristen Bell and Minka Kelly – which gave you enough of a hint at who this line is targeting. Models thumped down the runway in shoulder pads (yup, really!), magazine-print jumpsuits, tough leather jackets, and too-tight-for-words acid wash jeans. Leggings were virtually painted on the models’ legs in loud prints and for a bit of warmth they were matched with fluffy wraps and coats. But keep your eyes peeled for the shoulder pads – srsly!
Halston decided early on, before the economy went bottoms up, that it would forfeit a runway show at New York Fashion Week for a video presentation instead. Later today the full video will be sent via email showcasing Halston’s A/W 2009-10 line, which will shortly be followed by a look book and an invitation to see the collection at their showroom. But for now, you can check out this sneak peek of the video starring model Dree Hemingway running through the streets of New York. Click play to watch above.
Listen to the reasoning behind Patricia Field’s outlandish choices for Isla Fischer as Rebecca Bloomwood, the central character of the new movie Confessions of a Shopaholic. I can’t imagine you’re on a fashion blog without knowing a bit about the book already, but if you are, there’s also a “From Novel to Screen” clip in the “related videos” you could check out, as well as more clips of Pat Field talking wardrobe.
We’re still off for the holidays, but you can expect us to check in a few times this week when we find something fab to share. (What, you think we can stay off the internet for two weeks?) Such as this amusing video where Coco Rocha interviews friends at a Chanel party about Coco trivia. We do find out that Rocha’s real first name is not Coco from her sister, though her real first name is not divulged.
Cute video, though we’re not sure about this Coco Rocha-as-real-person trend. The overexposure is kind of ruining her glamorous image for us. What do you think?
If you’re missing Gossip Girl during it’s holiday hiatus (will Chuck and Blair ever get it together??) then check out this video of Leighton Meester on the set of her Teen Vogue cover shoot. While she doesn’t wear headbands or colored tights as regularly as her GG counterpart Blair, Leighton has a young, fashionable style all her own. We love!
We’ve seen plenty of Elle’s fashion closet on Stylista, but now get a good look at Teen Vogue’s in this video from their Fashion At Work series. Sure the video has tons of good information for girls looking to intern or explore fashion as a career, but we’re more interested in the eye candy – those shoes! All that American Apparel! Check it out here.
