Manolo SS2010.jpg
We couldn't mention Sex and The City and ignore Manolo Blahnik, especially after news of his latest creations are making a bit of a splash in the fashion world today.

The shoe designer has spoken about his Spring collection, which has been inspired by a range of things including the flats by Audrey Hepburn, some of the stilettos by old Hollywood glamour, some of the adornments by Spanish architecture, and one style even by Einstein's tongue.

"My favourite style is the Gloton in polkadot," Blahnik told VOGUE.COM. "This is a great summer shoe, which I have always loved, and variations of it have always featured in my collections.....It brings a smile to my face when I look at it and I hope it will do the same to women when they put the shoe on."

Mr Blahnik we guarantee we'll be smiling like Cheshire cats from the minute we touch any of your gorgeous footwear.

Armani relaunches it's website

Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture S/S 2010 - Giorgio Armani Prive - Runway

With the cold weather continuing to bite and the rain not looking like its going to pass anytime soon, heading out the the highstreet isn't looking too appealing.

In the past many of us have coped by buying the latest fashions from one of the huge range of online stores.

However, for those who like the designer delights of Bond Street, choices have been limited, until now that is.

Armani has just relaunched its website, bringing all it's collections together and offering the chance to buy some beauty and fashion items as well as watches and branded mobile phones online.

Log onto the site and you'll find Giorgio Armani, Emporio Armani, Armani Collezioni, Armani Jeans, Armani Exchange, Armani Junior and Armani Casa.

And you'll also be able to view and comment on the collections through a dedicated Facebook page and YouTube channel.

We think this is a genius idea, but we think we may have to find an equally clever place to hide our purses and credit cards.

Those of us who know a little bit (or alot) about the way couture items are made, will know that even a pattern drawing or stitch a millimetre out of place could ruin the whole outfit, making clothes pukker or sit funny when they are on.

And this is an even more important rule for tailored couture menswear, especially suits. So we were really pleased to find this video by Dolce and Gabbana, which shows exactly how it should be done.

The video, which shows a preview of their men's winter 2010 collection shows how a suit is painfully put together and covers everything from the pattern cutting to stitching. It's been made to mark a decade of sharp menswear by the brand.

Time to get the scissors and sewing machines out girls.

Chanel launches transfer tattoo set for SS2010

I've wanted a tattoo for a good few years now but I've chickened out several times because I'm scared of the pain, and that I'll regret it later on.

However, it seems body paints and transfer tatts are going to be big this year with many designers including Rodarte, Jean Paul Gaultier and Chanel using them on their Spring/Summer catwalks.

We've so far steered away from the transfer and henna types of tattoos due to the limited and tacky options associated with them, so we panicked a bit when we heard about this new trend. However, Chanel has come to the rescue.

It's launching the bangle, bead and floral designs, which it's models wore on the catwalks to give us girls a fighting fashion chance when it comes to transfers.

It's Les Trompe L'œil de Chanel, set of 55 individual tattoos, which cost a not so bad £49, will be available from March.

Vivienne Westwood.jpg

Jeans can be a little boring, especially if they are just the standard off the rack . However, one new line that promises to be the opposite is Vivienne Westwood's range for Lee jeans.

According to WWD, the Vivienne Westwood Anglomania and Lee collection, will reflect the designer's punky edgy style.

It will include superskinny jeans and microshorts for women, along with bondage jeans and skinny jeans for men. Washes will run from indigo denim to metallic gold- and copper-colored denim to denim printed with a trompe l'oeil lace design.

Carlo D'Amario, managing director of Vivienne Westwood said: "It is very important for us to work with a denim brand like Lee with such a strong heritage."

It's unknown when the range will hit the shops but when they do prices will range from £80 to £200. We better get saving then.

Megan pink.jpgMany designers would be pleased just to have a well known actress grace their advertising campaigns but Armani has gone that extra step when it comes to its model Megan Fox.

The designer has created an exact replica of the star's Giorgio Armani Prive pink dress, which she wore to the Russian premier of Transformers 2 just in time for the Christmas season.

We also think the strapless number resembles the frock Sarah Jessica Parker wore to the Did You Hear about The Morgans? Premier.

Megan sketch.jpg

We understand why the brand would want to go all out for the actress who replaced Victoria Beckaham as the face of Armani Lingerie for 2010 a few months ago and we think she'll make an amazing model for the brand.

However, we wish the designer would try and please us too by making his designs that little bit more affordable. £600 is just a little bit too much by our shopping standards unless of course it miraculously turns us into a Megan Fox look-a-like.

British Fashion Awards - Red Carpet Arrivals

Celebrities, models and fashion designers were out in their droves last night to celebrate the 25th annual British Fashion Awards.

The event, which we we've been excited about since we reported the shortlist a few weeks ago, took place in London's Royal Courts of Justice and this year played host to more British designers than ever before.

As we would expect, it was also attended by Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham and Claudia Schiffer as well as one of our favourite designers Matthew Williamson.

British Fashion Awards - Press Room

Christopher Bailey the Collection of the Year award, while model de jour Georgia Jagger scooped Model of the Year and there was also good news for Kate Moss who won the public voted London 25 Award.

There was also happiness from Grace Coddington who was given the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator and Katie Hillier was crowned Accessory Designer of the Year.

British Fashion Awards - Red Carpet Arrivals

We also think a huge congratulations are in order for Burberry, which won Designer Brand of the year and Christopher Bailey who was awarded British Designer of the Year.

During his acceptance speech, Bailey also revealed that Burberry would display creations during February's London Fashion Week: "London is our home and our global headquarters, and we are thrilled to be showing again in this, our magnificent and creative city," he said.

First looks: Lara Stone for Louis Vuitton

Lara Stone for Louis Vuitton.jpgWe've been really excited about seeing Louis Vuitton's SS2010 campaign ever since we reported that the designer had ditched Madonna in favour of younger model Lara Stone.

And it seems the waiting has paid off. Lara, really gives the brand a completely different look, posing in various outfits amongst grass and leaves and really making it feel fresh and alive. Sorry Madonna but we don't think this is a look you could have pulled off.

Speaking about the brands new model, Antoine Arnault, Vuitton's communications director, said: "After two seasons with such a huge star, Marc [Jacobs] decided to take a breather and work with a model - and not just any model. It's the choice of a new supermodel."

We can't wait to see the rest of the images.

Sonia Rykiel pour H&M preview

If you haven't already noticed we've got a lingerie theme going on today, apart from our Global Cool story, which is quite the opposite but, we'll sure your agree is for a good cause.

So what better way to round up the theme with a sneak preview and video of Sonia Rykiel's boudoir-inspired lingerie range for H&M.

We might have just got over the huge Jimmy Choo range for the highstreet store, but, as we all know fashion moves on as quickly as your other half when he spots the huge diamond ring you're ogling at in the jewellers window.

The launch of this range was held last night at Paris's Grand Palais for an extravagant show to unveil Sonia Rykiel's the range. And what a launch it was. The fairytale themed show complete with a glittering Eiffel Tower, ferris wheel, swing set and cut-out trees strung with thousands of fairy lights, also featured Lily Cole, who held the reins of a giant moving horse head.

And it seems when the collection launches on Saturday, there may not be the mayhem we reported and timing complaints many of you told us about during the Jimmy Choo launch.

A spokesman for H&M told Grazia: "The Jimmy Choo launch was different because with accessories and shoes we gave people a specific area to try things on and limited numbers of product they could buy, but because this launch is a line of garments we don't feel this is necessary, so there are no limits on what you can buy or try on."

We can't wait. View the video of last nights launch and click on the picture below for a sneak preview of the collection.

Chloe.jpgThe economic climate may still be continuing to create problems for us and our wardrobes, but we've found something that may help, especially if you have designer clothes you want to sell.

Chic & Seek is a new website that helps those of us who don't have the time to post items up on Ebay or set up car boot sales by offering a collection service and doing the photography, advert uploads and postage to the buyer for you. Contact sell@chicandseek.com or 020 7229 4308.

And those of us who want to spend some cash can also find some great designer bargains on the site. We've just had a scout around and fallen in love with a pair of flat Christian Louboutin's, going for £85 and this cute casual Chloe top with rushed neck line for £70.

Shortlist for British Fashion Awards announced

Comments (1)

_42112570_catwalk2416.jpgIt's that time of year again, Christmas, icy weather and most importantly the lead up to the British Fashion Awards.

And the shortlist for awards, which will be held on 9 December, has just been announced.
This year there are 11 categories, including Designer of the Year, Menswear Designer of the Year and the Swarovski Emerging Talent Awards for ready-to-wear and accessories.

Rosie Huntington Whiteley, Daisy Lowe and the new face of Rimmel, Georgia May Jagger will also be fighting it out of the model of the year category.

We really wouldn't want to be in the judges shoes at the moment and think they'll have a hard task choosing amongst the great talents out there.

This includes Burberry and Pringle for the designer brand of the year, Christopher Kane, Jonathan Saunders or Erdem for collection of the year and Mark Fast, and Meadham Kirchhoff and Peter Pilotto for emerging womenswear labels.

Caroline Rush, joint CEO of the British Fashion Council, said: "This year's nominee list highlights the extraordinary breadth of British design talent."

We can't wait to see who comes out tops, but runners up, don't worry, we'll still be buying your fashions.

We know wearing a cycle or scooter helmet isn't overly sexy and it can mess up your hair but that's no excuse to go without, especially when you consider the consequences.

Ok, we'll stop with the preaching now and tell you instead about a scooter helmet you won't be making excuses to wear.

Karl Lagerfeld has launched, what we think is every princesses dream. First seen at the designers 2009 catwalk show, this little gem comes laced with pearls and also has iPod hookups.

It's available now but, as always there's a downside. Not only are there only 12 in the world but they also cost a whopping $1,805 to $6,837.

We've therefore put together a gallery of other fashionable scooter and cycle helmets, which you won't be complaining about wearing.

Click on the picture below to begin the gallery.

natalia_vodianova.jpgYesterday we told you about Prada's way of standing out from the designer crowd by using a model instead of a celebrity and it seems other fashion houses have the same idea.

Paris designer YSL has today officially announced that Russian model Natalia Vodianova will be replacing (older) supermodel Christy Turlinton for its 2010 Spring range.

And that's not all. It seems Natalie is also destined to deal with Stella McCartney and could front the stylish British brand after she made her only catwalk appearance in September for the label.

With so many high profile jobs under her tiny belt this is one model to keep an eye on.

Rasa.jpgIt seems Prada has ignored other fashion houses high profile celebrity advertising campaigns and has decided to stand out from the star crowded craze by using a proper model to show off its Spring 2010 collection.

The brand has opted to use Lithuanian model Rasa Zukauskaite, who is no stranger to the brand or high end fashion.

The 18 year old walked the Prada Spring/Summer 2010 show along with Alberta Ferretti, Aquilano.Rimondi, Missoni and Moschino in Milan last month.

Lily Allen poses with Karl Lagerfeld for Elle

Lily.jpgLily Allen is no stranger to fashion creation and we imagine has the number of a few of those top designers in her little black book (or mobile phone).

So we're hardly surprised that the singer has been snapped for next month's Elle Magazine next to Karl Lagerfeld. Afterall she did help design the Coco Cocoon, an understated new collection of featherweight quilted handbags and travel accessories for Chanel.

We love the black and white contrast of this picture and as always Lily looks fantastic in tight trousers and ankle length boots.
