Luella reduces prices to sell off stock

Comments (0)

Luella Fall 09.jpgWe're still reeling from the news that Luella has lost it's financial backing, but it seems there may be some light at the end of the tunnel for bargain hunters.

Don't get us wrong, we're still really upset that the fashion world has, for now, lost such a talented designer, but we can't help rejoicing the fact that the sudden collapse has bought on a mamouth Luella sale (we blame the credit crunch for our selfishness).

Many items online including purses, bags and dresses have been slashed by more than 50%, making this the designer bargain hunters sale of the year.

And to make up for our greed, we're more than happy to join the Save Luella campaign on Facebook. We feel redeemed already.

Lara.jpgMove over Madge there's a new Louis Vuitton model in town.

Yes that's right, Madonna, who has been the face of the brand for two years, has been replaced by pretty (not to mention younger) gapped tooth model Lara Stone.

Lara will be fronting Louis Vuitton's S/S '10 campaign, which will be shot by famous photographer Stephen Meisel.

We hope she'll carry on where Madge left off and wear some key looks from the designer brand out.

Sneak peak of Sonia Rykiel's H&M collaboration

Sonia big.jpgWe love H&M, not only does it bring us affordable fashions but has also teamed up with a range of designers over the years to bring us some high end styles without all the hefty price tag. We've not stopped thinking about the Jimmy Choo collection, which will arrive in stores next month.

But something that has taken our mind off it slightly is a sneak peak for the highstreet stores collaboration with Sonia Rykiel. If you're a regular reader, you'll know how excited we were when we announced her lingerie line for H&M last month so imagine what this has done to us.

Apparently the collection will include opaque black bras with flowers on the nipples. And see-through mesh panties with flowers on the bottom. Yes, we know, it's a bit extreme but it fits the style bill as lingerie-as-outerwear will be the hottest trend next Spring.

Jimmy Choo PEP.jpgGet your hands on some Jimmy Choo accessories without feeling guilty about spending.

The shoe designer has teamed up with the Elton John AIDS Foundation to create the 'PEP-up Shop' featuring a host of limited edition Jimmy Choo products, made especially for the project.

The event, which takes place at Selfridges from Friday 30 October, will only last for 72 hours (yes we'll be queuing from dawn too), and will include exclusive products such as a cuff, ID-tag and a mobile strap.

And, as we told you before, you won't need to feel guilty about spending as Jimmy Choo will donate 25% of the sales of the Project PEP capsule collection directly to the Simelela centre. This will give victims access to vital life saving treatments that have to be administered within the first 72 hours of exposure to HIV. We see it as giving our annual charity donation early.

And it doesn't end there. The designer has also created website and is asking everyone to upload photos of themselves wearing their Choo's, as part of a campaign entitled 'You, Your Shoes and 72.'

Images will be showcased at the global launch of Project PEP at Selfridges and 100 of the best pictures will win products from the Jimmy Choo capsule collection.

Moschino Love.jpgWe love Moschino, and for once it seems to love us back, well sort of.

The Italian fashion house has announced that it will launch a more affordable line of accessories, meaning us highstreet girls can get our hands on the brand.

The Love Moschino range, which includes tote bags, shoulder bags, purses and clutch bags in a range of fabrics will retail between £100 - £270 (not bag for a designer bag). We can't wait to get our hands on one.

Victoria Beckham launches S/S 2010 range

Victoria B ss2010.jpgUnlike Lindsay Lohan, it seems Victoria Beckham most definitely made her mark at Fashion Week with sharp tailored clothing, that we, or any other fashion critics , can't fault.

The pop star, Wag and all round fashionista, known better for her jeans range, showed off a range of tailored slinky dresses, which we're sure you'll agree are gorgeous.

However, to fit into these you'll need to be small. We think that our gym membership may need to be renewed.

Tom Ford may launch women's range

tom-ford-1253737712.jpgI've always liked Tom Ford's designs even before he became a really well known designer for Gucci.

And I still credit him for bringing back the Halston-style velvet hipsters, skinny satin shirts and car-finish metallic patent boots, which he designed when he was at the fashion house.

I'm sure many of you were as gutted as me when he left to begin his own line, especially as so far he hasn't been designing any women's clothing.

Yes accessories and fragrances are all very nice but what we really want is a little bit of clothing injected with Mr Ford's creative mind. Well we may have got our wish because it's been rumoured that the designer is now looking for investment so he can expand into womenswear.

Now if I would be happy to help here but I don't think a couple of fivers and a stack of coppers from my money box would quite be enough for what he is looking for. Let's just hope someone sees his talent and gives him the investment he deserves so he can design the clothes we want.

We'll keep you updated of any changes.

London Fashion Week: Paul Costelloe catwalk show

Comments (2)

London Fashion Week has officially kicked off and this morning I had the pleasure of attending Dublin born designer Paul Costelloe's fashion show.

Paul has been showing his collections at London Fashion Week for 24 years and has opened the show for the past six seasons. This year was no different.

I always get really excited at this time of year when designers bring out their ranges for and I'm pleased to say this catwalk show didn't disappoint.

Mr Costelloe's designs were amazing and incorporated high collars, architectural shapes and block colours into the collection.

We saw puffball skirts incorporated with square metallic prints along with high necked jackets.

And it seems the 80s look will still be lingering way into next year if Paul's designs are anything to go by. His collection included a range of 80s style shoulder jackets and dresses as well as midi jackets and skirts with big square pleats.

Although there was the odd little black dress the rest of the collection was bright, (think silvers and pinks.)

It's also good news for men who hate the smart look because it seems this season's fashions are smart casual as Paul's range was all about loose linen suits and chinos in beiges and jumpers in bright orange.

We've got the official photos and our own now so have a look and tell us what you think.

I'll also try to bring you some video footage later on.

kane and Topshop.jpgTopshop has announced that it will be working with designer Christopher Kane for another season.

Having first joined forces with Topshop in 2007, Christopher Kane's Autumn/Winter 09 collection will include 39 pieces making his collection the largest Topshop Boutique range to date.

According to Topshop the collection will include pieces in fine black gauze embellished with mirrors and eyelets as well as 50s inspired briefs which are high waisted and worn as outerwear, slim fitting leggings, and a slick long sleeved dress and a high necked body with cap sleeves.

His range of evening dresses will also feature V neck designs to accentuate the neck and will also feature oversized jewels around the neckline.

And it doesn't end there. For this collection Christopher Kane has also for the first time, designed a range of footwear and accessories to tie in with the clothing collection, all of which will be available from 18 September.

Red or dead collection.JPGAs it gets closer and closer to the autumn, many designers are launching their ranges for the season ahead and Red or Dead is no different.

The British Fashion company has just launched its womenswear collection exclusively in highstreet shop Bank.

The collection features 35-pieces of coats, trousers, skirts and tops as is said to include playful prints, ditzy designs and sculptural shapes.

Those of us loving 80s fashion will love the denim playsuits and leather jackets in the range, while the girly girls among us may fall for the range of tulip dresses.

Prices for the range from £19.99 to £145.

Hervé Léger opens UK store

Comments (0)

Herve.jpgIf you love Posh's, Lindsay Lohans and Diane Kruger's red carpet, figure hugging dress style then you'll be pleased to know, you will soon be able to get your hands on something similar.

The starlets are all known for wearing Hervé Léger, a designer whose creations became well known in the 80s.

Over the past year the designs have made a huge come back onto the celebrity circuit and they will now be making an entrance into our wardrobes at home.

Why? Because the designer is opening up a UK store in Knightsbridge on the 17 September.

The store will have two levels, plus a VIP area. I think this is fantastic news, and definitely a worthy excuse to join up to the gym to get into one of these gorgeous figure hugging dresses.

While I'm on a designer roll it would be wrong not to tell you about this amazing video showing how a seamstresses turns a Karl Lagerfeld sketch into a finished dress and jacket.

After all there's nothing more exciting than seeing how designer garments are made, and what we're actually parting with our money for.

The video, which was given exclusively to The Cut, by Chanel is a great insight into all the hard work that goes into making these pieces and it's definitely worth a watch. Yes the seamstress makes it look easy but watch the way each sequin is picked up and the way the piping is stitched on. I'm not sure I'd have the patience.

I think that if I'd actually seen a video like this during my disastrous attempts in my textiles A-level I may have done better (well I have to blame something.)

Miu Miu Red Handbag RRP £700 BA £479.JPGAnother day and another handbag bargain (think I'm going to need a bigger house after all of this.)

Now, we're not talking about low low prices here, but those of you who know how much Gucci and Prada bags cost, will understand why I'm so excited about this.

From tomorrow, and for three days only (ok now I sound like a DFS store advert), designer website BrandAlley is having a handbag sale.

It's reducing a range of Miu Miu, Prada and Gucci bags by around £200 to £300.

We love the pictured red Miu Miu bag, which is now down to £479 from £700 and the white Gucci bag, which has been reduced from £1142 to £699.

Hmm I wonder if my bank will extend my overdraft, after all it's for a good cause.

Brag it up.JPGIt seems that we have taken it upon ourselves today to become your credit crunch fashion fairy Godmother because we've found something that will save you even more money this season.

BragItUp is a recently launched website that lists the week's top ten fashion finds available on the web.

Ok, we can hear you thinking that's not really anything new, but be patient and we'll explain.

Every item that goes onto this site has to be discounted by a minimum of 40% of the original price and preferably be from a top designer, brand or store.

We had a scout around today and spotted some Christian Louboutin's with 60% (no it's not a typo) off, a Leona Edmiston dress down from £310 to £50 and Jimmy Choo sling backs £142 from £475. See we told you this was good.

The site is updated every Thursday and you can also sign up to receive free weekly emails, which shows the deals as soon as they go live on the website. Don't say we don't ever do anything for you.
