invisible hit counter

Kate Moss bags.jpgKate Moss is no stranger to the world of fashion design, and unlike other actresses and models, she does it well.

Her ongoing and successful range for Topshop has had us saving long and hard for some of her pieces, and now it seems her designing conquest is set to continue with news that she'll be creating a range of handbags for Longchamp.

The model, who has fronted a number of campaigns for the brand will be working under the supervision of Longchamp's artistic director Sophie Delafontaine to produce the collection thought to be out around the middle of February.

But if you don't manage to get your hands on one of these this season don't worry. According to Vogue this is one partnership that won't be fading out after one season.

With the news that 2010 will see a smaller handbag trend, we've emptied our huge bags of all the old clothes, perfumes and note books and begun looking for smaller pastures new.

There is a huge range of smaller bags on the market today and if you can't quite get over having to carry around the bare minimum you will still be able to get away with a medium sized tote.

We've put together a range of smaller daytime bags to help you get this season's style with ease.

Highstreet VS Deigner: Max C and Chanel

Comments (0)

Max.JPGHigh street stores are becoming more style savvy, creating clothes and accessories, which almost mirror those designed by high end brands.

Yes the fabric may not be as plush, and they are probably more prone to wear and tear, but, unless they're classic wardrobe must haves, do you really need anything more? After all fashion changes so quickly.

So we were really pleased when we spotted this Max C bag, which is similar to Chanel's quilted bowling bag. We would be more than happy to have this stylish high street alternative on our shoulder especially when you consider the whopping price difference.

Max C comes in at a very reasonable £40 compared to Chanel's £860. Leaving us more than enough left over to get matching shoes and outfits.

BAG.jpgCan you carry love in a handbag? We didn't think so until we came across this amazing initiative.

The Tabitha bag, has been created especially to help children in Bulgaria who have been abandoned and left in horrific institutions.

All proceeds (100%) are said to go towards supporting vulnerable children in Bulgarian care homes and fund the Baba Programme, which matches a mature woman with a young abandoned child in need of a loving, caring and safe relationship.

With the purchase of the Tabitha, it's claimed you will be ensuring a child gets another six weeks with his or her Baba.

The bag was designed by Emma Ganderton who has held creative roles at Alice Temperley and Alberta Ferretti and is currently head of design for bags & accessories at leading UK retailer Jigsaw.

The bags cost £155 each and you can buy them here. We think it's definitely a gift worth giving this Christmas.

Miu Miu Red Handbag RRP £700 BA £479.JPGAnother day and another handbag bargain (think I'm going to need a bigger house after all of this.)

Now, we're not talking about low low prices here, but those of you who know how much Gucci and Prada bags cost, will understand why I'm so excited about this.

From tomorrow, and for three days only (ok now I sound like a DFS store advert), designer website BrandAlley is having a handbag sale.

It's reducing a range of Miu Miu, Prada and Gucci bags by around £200 to £300.

We love the pictured red Miu Miu bag, which is now down to £479 from £700 and the white Gucci bag, which has been reduced from £1142 to £699.

Hmm I wonder if my bank will extend my overdraft, after all it's for a good cause.

Bags that send us up the high street

Suzi Smith bag.JPG
Handbags have always been one of my weaknesses, I refuse to stop buying them and refuse to give any away either.

And thanks to Suzi Smith I am now in need of going shopping again. The handbag designer has launched a range of brightly coloured pastel bags in quirky fun shapes, which will keep us going until the end of September (well with this designer anyway.)

Made from fabrics such as mottled snakes and shiny patents as well as frills, quilting, and bows, these bags can be used both during the day and night.

Well we think that's a better excuse than any to get our hands on one of these.

Heidi bag.JPGNow we love handbags, pink, silver, black you name it we want it. So imagine our delight when we heard about this, which we (grudgingly) thought we'd share with you.

If you haven't been lucky enough to get your hands on one of the exclusive eel skin bags and purses from London designer Heidi Mottram - now is your chance.

Heidi will be selling her end of lines, excess stock, seconds and samples at huge discounts at Sunday UpMarket in the Old Truman Brewery every Sunday in September.

Now we plan to be camping out from the night before but for everyone else the sale starts at ten , and yes we are trained in the art of handbag sale fighting (think the Friends episode with the discount bridal wear.)

carlosfalchi_target.jpgThe next big name in Target's ever-expanding designer pool has been revealed as Carlos Falchi.

He is the eighth that the retailer has recruited to create a line a handbags. The 13-piece collection will include faux snakeskin (pictured, not part of range) and patchwork in a variety of brown, black, gray and jewel tones.

They will be available via Target stores and Target.com from October 11 to December 27, 2009.

New York Fashion Week: Tory Burch backstage gallery

Tory Burch is smart about this recession business. She didn't sacrifice the luxe factor for her Fall 09 collection, far from it, she seems to have upped the sophistication and chic styling. But a big part of her collection? The affordable statement necklace.

"We spent a lot of time on costume jewelry, shoes and handbags," she said backstage before her show. "[The jewelry] is all made by hand and will be available in stores and on the Web site."

I love that, because a lot of times the jewelry for a show is one-of-a-kind and can't be purchased, or certainly can't be purchased by the average jane. What is TB thinking for fall 09?

"My favorite piece for fall is ths soft white jacket with feather detail ... the skinny leather pants I love ... every look in [this collection] I would wear myself."

Check out tons of bags, boots, jewelry and fashion in our gallery by clicking on the image below!

Stephen Sprouse pochette.jpg

The Stephen Sprouse Collection from Louis Vuitton is finally available online, so I perused the small collection for our designer pick of the week. I picked this floral pochette not just because it's one of the more affordable options at $500, but because I think that Sprouse's floral *graffiti* design works best on this petite fellow. It's a great way to own a piece of this limited-edition collection.

Cole Haan unveils spring 09 Maria Sharapova campaign

Maria Sharipova Cole Haan.jpg

Who better to launch a sporting collection than Maria Sharapova? I'm sure that's what Cole Haan figured when they cast her as the star of their spring 2009 campaign.

The ads were shot in Malibu by Martyn Thompson, and extends the relationship between Cole Haan and Nike, the maker of their comfort shoe technology.

"The campaign marks the first time Cole Haan has collaborated with a Nike athlete to serve as the face of a new collection," notes Cole Haan Chief Marketing Officer Michael Capiraso. "We are able to leverage her interest in fashion and sport, while connecting with our consumer in a new and unique way."

Outfit pick.jpg

The affects of Givenchy's fall 08 chain dresses are still being felt, so you can find something like this Forever 21 chain trim tunic, $19.80, everywhere. It's perfect for pairing with Goldsign's super-stretchy Misfit slim leg jeans, $218. Thanks to 35% four-way stretch, the denim is likened to the feel of leggings. And what to wear with your dark wash skinny jeans but a tough-chic bootie. We chose Steve Madden's Slasssh bootie, $199.95, even though we're generally opposed to open-toed boots in winter. But, what better way to show off the new Chanel nail colors we're all coveting? Top it all off with this Jimmy Choo Eva leather clutch, $1,170 to remind everyone you've got class.

Bargain Pick of the Week: Le Sportsac Kevyn bag

LeSportsac Kevyn Bag.jpg

This little Le Sportsac Kevyn bag would make a great makeup bag for only $25. All Le Sportsac bags are a great fabric for carrying around spillables, so I often look to them for the perfect cosmetics carrier. And I love the black rose print.

Five styles in six different prints were featured on Home Shopping Network yesterday and worth taking a look at, nothing over $130!

Be&D Garbo bag.jpg

It's hard to believe it's been five years since Be&D released their first Garbo bag, but when your bags are on Gossip Girl and your name is used in pop culture parody, I guess it means you're a regular on the scene.

For their 5th anniversary, the brand has updated their iconic Garbo, $1,390, as part of a capsule collection. The buckles have been removed and the bag is bedazzled with spiked studs, and whip stitched handles add extra detail.

Keep checking back for more of the Be&D spring 09 line!
