The return of turquoise?

Turquoise bracelet 1.jpg

Turquoise may never really have gone away as far as hippies and Southwestern tourists are concerned, but is the stone making a comeback in fashion?

The latest incarnations of turquoise jewelry are less American Indian-inspired and more polished, implying that this time around it's more about the color than the stone.

J. Crew accessories.jpg

Looks like we'll have more accessories to lust after at J.Crew as they unveil their extended assortment and a new accessories-only catalog this Friday.

The assortment also includes the new J.Crew fine jewelry collection. These pieces are a bit more formal (and expensive) than the costume jewelry line.

To get an idea of the prices, a 10-karat gold boule ring with pearl is $495 and a ribbon-tied long pearl necklace is $200.

"This is our first foray into fine jewelry," Creative Director Jenna Lyons Mazeau told WWD. "We want to be approachable."

The new variety of bags, shoes, and jewelry is already available on J.Crew.com.

For more on the bags and shoes, keep reading.

Anne Hathaway ShoWest.jpg

Anne Hathaway certainly chose an interesting ensemble from Derek Lam for the ShoWest awards, where she picked up the title of female star of the year.

We think the tiered skirt combined with the ankle-strap heels breaks up her lower half a little too much. The shoes make the skirt length look extra awkward.

St. Patrick's bracelet.jpg

If you're Irish, or just in an Irish mood for the occasion, check out this luck toggle bracelet, $38, at RedEnvelope.com.

It is crafted with peridot, said to accelerate personal growth and open the doors of opportunity.

The bracelet would look equally cute with a t-shirt and jeans or sticking out from a shirt sleeve at work.

Old Navy enamel bangles

Bangles.jpg

Old Navy has knocked off their own version of the enamel bangles everyone from Coach to Kenneth Jay Lane has offered lately, with pretty cute results!

The bangles range from $7.50 to $12.50, and could easily slip onto a wristful of pricier pieces without notice.

Or buy a few of these to get you in the mood for spring, and start you on your way to embracing the bright color trend.

Avril Lavigne to lend her rock and roll style to Kohl's

Avril Lavigne.jpg

WWD reports that Kohl's Corp. has signed Avril Lavigne for the creation of a lifestyle brand for juniors called Abbey Dawn.

New Abbey Dawn fashion collections will rotate every 90 days beginning in July, if everything goes according to plan.

The collections are expected to blend punk and feminine styles for price points from $24 to $48. Clothing and jewelry will be in store first, with other product categories to follow.

It seems strange to go to the trouble of signing a celebrity and then not use their name, so it will be interesting to see how involved in Abbey Dawn Lavigne ends up being.

Iman launches accessories collection

Looks like HSN has found its answer to the popularity of Heidi Klum on QVC with Iman Global Chic.

Everything in the collection is under $130 and some pieces sold out in the first five minutes on air, so if you're into the accessories inspired by Iman's world travels you should act fast.

Looks like the two home shopping giants are going head to head. While Heidi Klum is clearly the higher-profile model right now, with her Project Runway hosting gig, she did run into that little trouble with Van Cleef and Arpels about her signature clover design. Let's see if Iman can stay out of the hot seat.

These adorable Anna Beck gold-plated and sterling silver stackable rings are the perfect accessory for Miss. Indecisive or someone who may just want to show off their multi-dimensional personality! They offer the luxury of mixing things up with other gold and silver accessories or can also be worn in pairs. For $225, they are a cute must have. Marc Jacobs link watch

This Marc by Marc Jacobs link watch would make a really cute everyday staple with style. For only $175 you get a cute watch and don't even have to turn the face inward on your wrist so fashionistas can't see the brand (remember Andy in The Devil Wears Prada?). I would wear this to work, shopping, travelling and more.

Selma Blair at the Chanel Fine Jewelry Night of Diamonds dinner

Selma%20Blair.jpg

Selma Blair found a way to stand out in the sea of black that's been crashing over red carpets lately with this glittering number. The rosettes align with the current ruffle trend and a large, sparkling broach nipped in her waist enhancing the feminine silhouette. It's only fitting that her look should be so glam since she was attending the Chanel Fine Jewelry Night of Diamonds dinner at the Plaza Hotel. It's nice to see Selma back in the style spotlight.

Nomination%20earrings.jpg

Flipping through a Tiffany catalog, especially with Christmas just passed and Valentine's Day right around the corner, can be downright depressing. The perfect thing to combat the blue-box blues? Nomination Italy's Tiffany-inspired Glam earrings.

Real amethyst stones and colored cubic zirconia illuminate the 18K gold settings of the earrings which ring up at $233, as opposed to $4,100 for a pair of Tiffany Paloma's SugarStacks earrings.

Scissor cuff from Toy Me

Once, in the parking lot of a Dairy Queen while on a mission trip with the Tennessee Outreach Project, I created a cuff out of two run-of-the-mill forks and fell in love with it. The cool thing, I felt, was that you could create completely different pieces by using completely different forks.

Well, this scissor cuff from Toy Me kind of reminds me of that experiment. Check out the images over at NOTCOT.com where we discovered the piece to see how it actually opens, as well.

There's definitely something a little bit edgy about wearing a cutting tool on your wrist. Dreamed up by Paris designer Thomas Jaillot and Marco De Michelis, the cuff is part of an upcoming Toy Me collection to be presented next week.

Subversive Jewelry had a great 2007, is set for 2008

Subversive%20Jewelry%20necklace.jpg

After being named a CFDA/Vogue fashion fund top ten finalist but missing the top prize, Subversive Jewelry has finally broken through as a winner in the Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation awards. Not only did Justin Giunta's jewelry earn the label a slot among the seven winners, the designs earned it the title of the first ever accessories winner in the Ecco Domani competition. Designers win $25,000 toward the presentation of their collections at New York Fashion Week, so we're not sure where Subversive Jewelry will get to spend its prize. But we hope it goes towards more designs like this double strand pearl necklace, $560.
