On the heels of stories that Anna Wintour is preparing for retirement from Vogue (can you imagine the hooplah when that actually happens?) comes an interesting rumor about what she may fill her time with post-Vogue.

Fashion Week Daily is reporting that Anna may be in the running for an ambassadorship in the Obama administration - England or France are both likely.

FWD points out that once you've hosted the Met gala, a state dinner is a piece of cake.

The New York Times has an interesting critique of Vogue magazine today which got us thinking, how relevant is Vogue today? Is it still the most relevant fashion magazine in print? And if so, does that mean much?

Cathy Horyn writes about the fact that Anna Wintour chose to print a letter to the editor in this month's issue which accurately describes Vogue's main problem - that it's in a rut. The same cover girls and "muses" are recycled over and over, albeit with often fantastic writing, editing and photography.

So we're wondering, internet and fashion-savvy blog readers that you are, do you still read Vogue magazine?

If you're missing Gossip Girl during it's holiday hiatus (will Chuck and Blair ever get it together??) then check out this video of Leighton Meester on the set of her Teen Vogue cover shoot. While she doesn't wear headbands or colored tights as regularly as her GG counterpart Blair, Leighton has a young, fashionable style all her own. We love!

You might still be reeling from the visual of a nude Karl Lagerfeld (even if it was just an illustration), but at least you will hopefully be a bit more prepared for the sight of Mr Marc Jacobs casually sprawled on a pink furry throw exposing more than just the newest 'It' bag - check out them tan lines!

We've seen plenty of Elle's fashion closet on Stylista, but now get a good look at Teen Vogue's in this video from their Fashion At Work series. Sure the video has tons of good information for girls looking to intern or explore fashion as a career, but we're more interested in the eye candy - those shoes! All that American Apparel! It looks like that we'll be getting to see that Vogue documentary after all. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that the documentary, created by R.J. Cutler, has made the line-up for the 2009 Sundance Film Festival next January.

We also now have a title, The September Issue, which as it says, focuses on the preparations for Vogue's spring 2007 issue. It was filmed with the full cooperation of Anna Wintour and her staff, so expect to see the lady herself in her natural environment. Cue major excitement!

It's been a heady week for Vogue's editor-in-chief with rumors rife that she was about to give up her crown to French editor, Carine Roitfeld. To find out the latest, read on...

The ole' internet is buzzing today with reports that a Vogue documentary, filmed last year, is Sundance-bound.

The doco, directed by R.J. Cutler, follows the preparations for the magazine's spring 2007 issue, and has a decent shot at making it to Sundance Film Festival, according to insiders.

Little else is known about the film, except that it is produced by A&E Indie Films, and has the full cooperation of Anna Wintour and her staff.

Does that mean Wintour on the big screen?

A spokesperson for Cutler could not confirm the news, but even so... how freakin' exciting. We're with NY Mag on this one - we want our Twilight-inspired fan T-shirts, stat!

The lovely pets over at New York Mag's The Cut got their heads nearly bitten off by Anna Wintour recently, when they dared to ask her about *those* nagging retirement rumors.

The scenario went a bit like this...

The Cut: There have been some rumors, and we were wondering if you had plans for retirement.
Anna Wintour: I'm so sorry, I think that's an extremely rude question. Leave me alone.
The Cut: May we ask what you would do if you did retire?
Anna Wintour: No. Just go away.
The Cut: Okay, thank you, enjoy your dinner.

Er, surely a simple 'no comment' response would have sufficed. Jeepers!

Looks like Anne Slowey doesn't have quite Heidi's appeal. The Elle fashion news director's fashion reality show Stylista isn't exactly raking in the ratings.

It's coming out below Gossip Girl, which we expected because nothing's as good as Gossip Girl for your fashion fix. But it's even below the new 90210.

The competition to become the next Elle editorial assistant attracts 1.97 million viewers a week, compared to similarly-themed Project Runway's 3 mill a week - on cable, no less.

So, we were wondering, are you watching Stylista?

While most December magazine news revolves around that other Jennifer, actress Jennifer Connelly caught our attention in the December 08 issue of Marie Claire.

You can see her in the season's best Little Black Dresses just in time for the party season, and we've got a sneak peek at her in CRHEE's Slowdive dress from their fall/winter collection above.

So Jennifer Aniston is on the cover of the December Vogue, but that's not the most interesting on the cover of the glossy.

The cover line reads "What Angelina Did Was Very Uncool." Sure, that's surprising, and interesting. But as Fashionista points out, isn't it a little tacky? Vogue is about fashion, right?

We first told you about Lily Cole's stint for French Playboy back in July, now more details of that shoot have come to light.

The Brit model has been confirmed for the October issue, in a shoot inspired by French musician Serge Gainsbourg's Melody Nelson album. For the cover, Cole poses with nothing on except for a pair of socks, and clutching a teddy bear.

From a Teen Vogue cover with "Harry Potter" costar Daniel Radcliffe to her own couture spread in Vogue Italia, Emma Watson is certainly moving up in the world of fashion. One might say she has us bewitched. (Sorry, couldn't help it.) As these images from the September issue attest, she can certainly pull off the couture. We're thinking the premiere of the final Harry Potter film might require something in this vein.

I love magazines. Almost any subject - home decor, music, news, entertainment - I've devoured them all. I've cut them all up for my walls, notebooks, and whatever other surfaces were available for collaging. I'm also an old-fashioned reader. Even if a magazine's full content were available on the Web, I'd still subscribe if it was a favorite.

Ironically, considering my current profession, it was even a struggle for me to give up writing with pen and paper and move to the computer during college. And so, it was with a heavy heart that while flipping through the September issue of Nylon I first realized that I was bored, and next realized why.
