invisible hit counter

293.model.catwalk.090407.jpgI'm not exactly model material. I stand at an average 5'5 and my love for Chinese take away and chocolate means I'm not the required size six or zero.

But whilst strolling amongst the throng of shoppers on London's Oxford Street I was quite literally ambushed by a "model scout" who insisted I had "the look for model and TV extra work."

Being no stranger to these types of scouts, which in the past I have ignored, I thought I'd do a little bit of research for you, so I obliging had my picture taken and gave her my details. Apparently if you are "chosen" the company calls you and signs you up.

A mere 24 hours later they informed me I had been "accepted onto their books" and they wanted me to attend a casting for MTV.

So what was the catch? Read on to see what happened.

If you fancy being the next top model then check out the latest modelling competition being run by Ford.

The company, which has had Elle Macpherson, Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell and Jodie Kidd on its books has begun an online search for the next best thing.

It's asking ladies aged between 16 and 21 (well that's me out of it then) to post their details online and include three pics including a close up, smiling, a close-up with no smile and a full length title.

The lucky winner will win a £250,000 modelling contract. The UK search will take place in cities across the nation, with the UK final taking place in November at London's, Il Bottaccio. Watch the video below to get some more information.

Kate Moss roughs it on latest photoshoot

Comments (0)

Kate MossjpgDespite her posh, celebrity lifestyle Kate Moss doesn't look at all out of place dressed as a beautiful gypsy for this latest photoshoot.

The model joined a group of travellers on a photo spread for an upcoming issue of V Magazine, shot by Iain McKell and shunned hotels for a designer camping van (well camping might have been too much to ask for.) And she wasn't exactly slumming it in the clothes she wore for the shoot.

The range included Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony, Kenzo and John Galliano.

According to reports she partied the night away with her new found friends and we're sure you'll agree she looks absolutely stunning in this shoot.

If I had been out partying the night before it would have a taken a day of at least ten makeup artists to make me look a fraction as good as Kate.

lizzie.jpgIt seems that fashion magazines are finally taking note of our need to see a real woman on fashion spreads and on covers.

After a huge positive response to the nude photo of plus-size model Lizzie Miller in the September issue of American Glamour, the magazine will apparently feature "a slew of large, nude models" in its November's issue.

We hope this filters through to the UK versions but we wonder if we'll still be bombarded with features like "lose weight, fee great" alongside these.

It actually reminds me of a time when, after reading one magazine article on a girl's fight with anorexia, I turned the page to be presented with an advert for Adios. Oh dear.

Tell us what you think. Is Lizzie is the kind of model you would like to see gracing the magazine pages? Vote below.

American Vogue has broken its run of celebrities on their covers by featuring Christy Turlington on its August issue. The supermodel was photographed by Steven Klein flashing more than a bit of leg in a lilac halterneck gown. But nstead of the usual high fashion editorial inside, Christy is captured on location in Guatemala while on location shooting No Woman, No Cry, her documentary on motherhood in third world nations.

Our friends in Canada will be familiar with Coco Rocha's TV reporting work for E! The model was all over Fashion Week filming a special Coco Rocha Fashion Attack! which was given a special screening in New York this week. The show includes interviews with designers and funny moments with her Elite agent Micki Schneider. Check out the clip above of Coco taking camera tips from another model-turned-TV-star, Heidi Klum.

Chanel Iman interning at Teen Vogue

Chanel Iman 2.jpgThe trend to employ famous faces as magazine interns continues with the news that Chanel Iman is now working at Teen Vogue.

Last week the model tweeted about her internship at the mag, saying: "U will never guess what i've been doing for the last couple of hours. Havin' a blast interning at Teen Vogue!! Setup there [sic] closet like its mine".

Also: "Teen Vogue just got a little taste of Chanel Iman flavor in the House!!! Hey lol Teen Vogue rocks!!!"

Sounds like she is having fun.

Chanel is the latest in a string of celebs to hit the glossy intern trail. Bruce Willis's daughter, Tallulah Belle, recently worked at Harper's Bazaar, while Sean Avery interned at Vogue.

It didn't take long (just enough time to achieve maximum exposure, I'm presuming) for Calvin Klein to pull it's controversial jeans billboard in Manhattan. The company has instead replaced the "threesome" ad with a much less provocative shot of Doutzen Kroes in a red bikini. I'm sure this will come as a sight for sore eyes to many of the locals, namely of the male variety.

jesusluz_madonna_interviewjustfriends.jpgMadonna might seem smitten with her so-called beau, Jesus Luz (check out their steamy photo-shoot for W for evidence). But according to the man himself, they are "just friends."

The 23-year-old model sat down with Brazilian TV show Fantástico, to open up about his relationship with the Queen of Pop for the first time. When asked outright if the pair plan to wed, he replied: "She is someone I truly admire, a friend who is in my life, who I have worked with, and who I keep in touch with. I can't say anything else besides that. She is a friend, and nothing but a friend."

"We were introduced by photographer Steven Klein. I thought she was a wonderful person, full of positive energy," he added.

Check out a video of the interview after the cut (note: it's in Brazilian)...

giselebundchen_tombrady_expecting.jpgFrom Catwalk Queen: Whispers are doing the rounds that Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady are expecting their first child together.

The rumors began when the couple were spotted leaving an obstetrician's office in Manhattan earlier this month (pictured left). Now RadarOnline.com is reporting that Gisele is in fact pregnant, after confiding in friends.

Gisele and Tom were married in Santa Monica in February, this was followed up by a second ceremony in Costa Rica last month.

If true, the child will be the model's first and Brady's second. The quarterback star already has a one-year-old son, John Edward Thomas Moynahan, from his last relationship with Bridget Moynahan.

tyrabanks_paulinaporizkova_fired.jpgHas Paulina Porizkova become just another victim of the global economic crisis? That is what Tyra Banks is citing after the Czech model was fired as judge on America's Next Top Model. The only problem is that Paulina doesn't quite see it that way.

She revealed on the Late Late Show that she was fired because it was suggested that she had a big ego. She then insinuated on Access Hollywood that behind-the-scenes Tyra is a diva, who was consistently late to set and only spoke to her in front of the cameras. Now, Tyra has responded to the claims by releasing the following statement:

"The current state of the economy has forced shows to make major budget cuts industry wide. America's Next Top Model is not immune to these financially challenging times. We've had to make significant cuts in every area of the production and, unfortunately, Paulina was a casualty of these cuts."
