It's model season!

Alice + Olivia models.jpg

It's that time of year, when walking around New York City is especially damaging to one's ego because in addition to average-grade celebrities and fashionistas there are superhuman beauties marching the streets and catwalks. So what have the models been up to during fashion week? Eating! Reading! It's true. Even indulging in some adorably touristy behavior. Check it out after the jump.

Happy Valentines Day! Shiny sends it's LOVE. Hearting the photography in Katie Grand's new magazine, like Adriana Lima looking less Victoria's Secret and more high fashion. Nice.

Catwalk Queen's Gemma Cartwright writes...

Those Gossip Girl kids definitely gets around, don't they? It seems like not a glossy goes to print without some mention of the cast of fashion's favorite show.

In the March edition of Harper's Bazaar (yep, them again), Ed Westwick gets seduced by supermodel / photographer / all-round fashionista Helena Christensen in a shoot by snapper Terry Richardson.

The shoot features the couple looking very lustful in clothes by the likes of Max Mara, Oscar de la Renta, Dolce & Gabbana and Burberry. Keep reading for more pics...

Sarah Ruba rocks the latest 'Get Chucked' campaign

Sarah Rubia.jpg

With Converse sneakers being even more ubiquitous in music than in the general population, it fits that Sarah Ruba from New Look stars in the latest "Get Chucked" campaign from Converse by John Varvatos.

The ads were shot by Kieron O'Connor and have a rock and roll vibe about them, perfect for pawning the shoes.

"This campaign is about characters and their personalities," Varvatos told Fashion Week Daily. "Converse has always been about expressing yourself, and we have fully embraced that ideal here. Our latest 'Get Chucked' series goes to the heart of both brands. We're inspired by art, music and collaboration, and this campaign directly reflects the idealism of the 'downtown' loft mood, be it Manhattan, London or Tokyo."

Chanel Iman to host resurrected House of Style?

Chanel Iman.jpg

I'll admit, the most I remember of House of Style is the parody clip in Reality Bites. It's a little before my fashion time.

But that's doesn't mean I'm not psyched for MTV to bring back this fashion news program. And who do they hope to launch to household status like they did with Cindy Crawford? Well, Chanel Iman is in the mix, as is Leonardo DiCaprio's girlfriend Bar Refaeli.

Wouldn't fashion week be a fab time to premiere the show? But knowing MTV they need at least 6 months to air teaser commercials so we'll probably have to pin our hopes on spring '10.

Calvin Klein's latest banned commercial

Comments (0)

It's beginning to be par for the course - Calvin Klein creates a commercial, it's too hot for TV and is banned and gets more attention and buzz than it ever would have on the airwaves.

This time the commercial, above, and admittedly a little NSFW, was even banned from late night cable. But it looks like a toned down version will make it to your TV.

We're still off for the holidays, but you can expect us to check in a few times this week when we find something fab to share. (What, you think we can stay off the internet for two weeks?) Such as this amusing video where Coco Rocha interviews friends at a Chanel party about Coco trivia. We do find out that Rocha's real first name is not Coco from her sister, though her real first name is not divulged.

Cute video, though we're not sure about this Coco Rocha-as-real-person trend. The overexposure is kind of ruining her glamorous image for us. What do you think?

longchamp_katemoss_sasha_01.jpg

Kate Moss is no longer a solo flyer for Longchamp. Last season she was thrown together with the very handsome Gaspard Ulliel, and now she has been joined by Sasha Pivovarova for the brand's spring/summer '09 campaign. Colourfully captured by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, the duo appear to mirror each other with matching blonde choppy hair, sharp cheekbones, and perfect pouts. You'd hardly guess there was an 11-year gap in their ages, would you?

Catwalk Queen's Kimberley Foster writes...

Burberry has long been about doing things in big electic groups, consisting of a mixture of models, musicians, and other various It-kids.This spring/summer looks no different, with Christopher Bailey luring his cast to Petersham Nurseries, outside of London, for a greenhouse-style shoot. As far as who stars, well it appears that the whispers were correct for once. There is no sign of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley this time, after she was reportedly dropped from the label due to that drug scandal a few months back. Oops!

To discover who has taken her place, read on...

From our sister style blog, Catwalk Queen...

The annual Victoria's Secret fashion show kicked off on Saturday starring a host of angel-winged supermodels at the newly renovated Fontainebleau Miami Beach. VS veteran Heidi Klum led the glamorous event which included Miranda Kerr, Karolina Kurkova, Marisa Miller, Doutzen Kroes, Selita Ebanks and Marks & Spencer face Noemie Lenoir. Adriana Lima wowed in a $5 million Black Diamond Fantasy Miracle Bra, encrusted with rubies and black and white diamonds, designed by jeweller Martin Katz. While Brazilian model Alessandra Ambrosio returned to the catwalk after giving birth just three months ago! She shed an unbelievable 45 pounds to be able to squeeze into the skimpy lingerie and swimwear. Check out all the glitz via our photo gallery.

Coco Rocha is a little crazy in this video, but we like it! For a look at how it all turned out at his runway show, check out another vid after the jump.

Claudia Schiffer YSL.jpg

Looks like Yves Saint Laurent is simply collecting supermodels for its ad campaigns. After their fall ads featured Naomi Campbell, they're moving on to Claudia Schiffer for spring.

Schiffer has told WWD that she has shot campaigns for YSL, Dolce & Gabbana and Salvatore Ferragamo for the spring.

Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin photographed YSL's spring campaign in Los Angeles last month.

Costume Institute announces spring exhibit

supermodels.jpg

The Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art has announced the details of its spring exhibit: "The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion."

The exhibit is the occasion for the famous Costume Institute Gala, so we can surely expect tons of supermodels on the red carpet.

gisele_dior09tapped.jpgIn brief model news, Gisele Bundchen is said to be lined up for Christian Dior's spring 2009 campaign.

The Brazillian glamazon leaked the news on her official website, where she wrote that she is in Paris to shoot the ads for the French fashion house.

Oops... was this meant to be on purpose?

If true, then this means that she will resume her role at the label (she previously fronted Dior's 2004 spring and winter campaigns, pictured right) and take over the reins from Daria Werbowy.
