ShinyStyle Gallery: Hollywould press preview - ready-to-wear

Comments (0)

I ran up to the Hollywould showroom this morning in between shows to check out their clothes and accessories for spring 2009. Here's a gallery of their cool, chic ready-to-wear line and I'll have more on the shoes and bags later (in a rush to go backstage at Chris Benz in a bit). I really liked the color combinations and fabrics used in this line, I found it to be very wearable and summery. It was one of the first collections that really had me in the mood to keep dressing for warm weather - we're definitely having it in New York!

Fabulosity.jpg

Coincidentally, I was watching a self-created "Life in the Fab Lane" marathon on demand when this preview picture of Kimora Lee Simmons' Fabulosity line for J.C. Penney popped up on my screen.

"The Fabulosity girl is fun, fashionable and chic, but she doesn't want to spend her last penny on something to wear," Simmons said. "This collection is fashionable, but also affordable. The days of spending tons on clothes are gone -- I mean, I still do it, but young girls can't."

Trend alert: cut offs

It seems enough time has passed since "Dukes of Hazzard" for the fashionable to take their cut off jean shorts out of the drawer again. Or, I guess when you receive all the brand new designer jeans you could want for free every season, you can just take the scissors to last season's pairs. Ah, a girl can dream.

The first photos of Lanvin's anticipated capsule collection for Acne Jeans have hit the Web and they reveal a collection as chic as we expected.

Dimepiece Designs L.A. Legs painted-on pants

If you thought the Sass & Bide Black Rats leggings were hard to wear, you've got another thing coming with these L.A. legs pants by DimePiece Designs for only $70.

While we don't think we'd see Whitney in these, we're sure someone inspired by the fictional Ms. Carrie Bradshaw's recent reblossoming onto the fashion scene might give them a try.

We can see some conversation starters with "you are here" stickers and guys asking for directions south either plaguing or pleasing you, depending on your taste. (You know, whether you're a Charlotte or a Samantha.)

Aristocrat denim - 100% organic, 100% stylish

Aristocrat.jpg

Launched in spring 2007, Aristocrat denim is really heating up. Not just jeans, the denim line includes quite a few cute dresses as well.

The fabrics, dyes and the dye process are all 100% eco-friendly. Founder Bak (one name, like Cher, we presume) developed a revolutionary "green wash" process uses purified water and dry processes so all Aristocrat denim is chemical-free.

55DSL clothing for rock stars

We recently became acquainted with the clothing line 55DSL and think you should too!

The Italian brand helped sponsor the very exclusive BPM Smurf House party at Coachella recently, where Joel Madden, Steve Aoki, Datarock, Taryn Manning, Tommie Sunshine and J'Davey were all fans.

The fashionable music festival is a perfect fit for the brand, since Warped Tour was our first thought on where to wear the T-shirts we received. To see them, keep reading.

Vivienne Westwood Anglomania blouse.jpg

It can be hard to dress seasonally-appropriate on a cold, rainy day like today in the Northeast. It can be way easier to throw on a winter sweater that has yet to be put away than to choose a nice spring outfit that will also keep you warm.

That's why Vivienne Westwood's Anglomania petite floral blouse, $590, is perfect! It has the color we crave this time of year, with an on-trend-for-spring floral print.

This would look really cool with jeans and a jacket, but would dress up for work just as well with a pencil skirt.

How would you wear this blouse?

DKNYC.jpg

Donna Karan International is ready to add a new label to its stable of brands: DKNYC, a better sportswear label with price points similar to the current DKNY jeans range.

The new line will be similar in concept to the City DKNY line launched in 2001 but shuttered in 2005. Why try again? The company is doing well, sales are up, and it seems like a better time in the market.

"DKNY, in its original concept, was able to touch many people," Donna Karan told WWD. "That's what New York City is -- complicated, multidimensional ... As I see it, the C stands for circa. It's Circa DKNY, from its original core concept, when it was really intended for a much wider level. The current success of DKNY opened up the doors to be able to expand."

It's almost time to hit the beach! Nollie, our extreme sports blog for girls, has you covered with the new ladies line from Reef.

The Teamo Supremo T-shirt shown is one of many graphic tees and there's even more swimwear.

Check your local surf shop, or find a Reef location here.

Gap designer editions copy.jpg

The new collection of Gap Design Editions white shirts are now available in store and online, but they're selling out quickly. If you missed out last time, don't dawdle. Priced at $78 for a shirt, $88 for a dress, they'll go extra quick.

Our favorite is the low tie-neck top by Phillip Lim, not pictured. The other designers include Band of Outsiders, Michael Bastian, Three AsFour and this year jewelry designer Philip Crangi.
