invisible hit counter

Louise Goldin for Topshop 3.jpg Topshop are great at collaborating with new young designers, and their upcoming range of shoes by Louise Goldin (for the boutique collection) is another example. They're quite similar to the ones she showed on the catwalk for Spring/Summer 2009, but those ones were styled with cute ankle socks. Although we're sure someone adorable could tone these pointy court shoes down with a hyper-girly outfit, we think on most people they'd look downright scary. The combination of studs and aggressive-looking spikes means we're not sure we'd be brave enough to wear them.

The toe spikes look like they could do quite a bit of damage if you decided to kick someone with them, too. Not that we would ever encourage violence here at ShinyStyle, but maybe they'd be a useful deterrant against muggers.

The shoes will be available spring 2010.

We've covered a lot of the essentials for Christmas party style over the last couple of weeks, but now it's time for the most important part of any outfit: the shoes.

Heels are as high as they've ever been this year, and our picks reflect that. Whether you need a pair to ramp up an outfit from a 10 to an 11 on the oufit-ometer, or just to complete an already glittery and over-the-top ensemble, one thing the shoes have to be is towering. If there was ever a time to get out your shoes that are a bit uncomfortable but make your legs look amazing, Christmas is the time. (Just remember to buy some Party Feet gel insoles.)

And if you're worried about the risk to your ankles after you've had one too many glasses of champagne, we've included some shoes you can fit in your party bag to change into at the end of the night.

Metallics (especially gold) and different textures are hot this season. See if any of these heels work with your party outfits.

The hotly-anticipated Jimmy Choo for H&M line of shoes, clothing and accessories launches in stores tomorrow, and we're expecting queues of the sort not seen since the Comme des Garcons collection. The excitement is completely understandable - a lot of the shoes on sale are very similar to the full-price version, which means something approaching shoe perfection.

There are also some rather nice accessories, including a statement necklace that'll glam up any LBD this Christmas. And if the man in your life is in need of a style update, there are classic Chelsea boots and cashmere-blend sweaters. But you should probably get there fast, because these clothes and shoes are going to be in high demand!

This video from the launch party shows most of the range in action, including Paris Hilton declaring her love for (shock, horror) the pink box clutch.

We've put together a gallery of our favourite bits. Click the shoes below to start.

Get Sienna Miller's shoe style

I've always been a fan of Sienna Miller's dress sense ever since she came into the forefront of my fashion mind with her boho look many moons ago.

And if I'm honest, I'm also a bit envious; she gets it right all the time. So it will come as no surprise to you, that once again she has managed to pull off a trend, which a few other celebs may have struggled with, and that's the brogue shoe.

Although these have been lurking quietly in the fashion aisle for a good few months now, we think they will be making a fully fledged fashion journey down the high street this season. Now we can't give you Sienna's lifestyle but we can you the top brogue buys on the high street.

Yay or Nay Wednesday: Omelle Petal Flat Sandal

Yay or Nay shoe.jpg

It's true enough that any shoe seen to vary from traditional shoe shapes can be thought of as weird or too out there. So what about this one? Layered petal details over the heel and ankle, tied with a ribbon, seem a little out there. But who knows, these could be the shoes that define your summer wardrobe.

What do you think, yay or nay?

New York Fashion Week: Tory Burch backstage gallery

Tory Burch is smart about this recession business. She didn't sacrifice the luxe factor for her Fall 09 collection, far from it, she seems to have upped the sophistication and chic styling. But a big part of her collection? The affordable statement necklace.

"We spent a lot of time on costume jewelry, shoes and handbags," she said backstage before her show. "[The jewelry] is all made by hand and will be available in stores and on the Web site."

I love that, because a lot of times the jewelry for a show is one-of-a-kind and can't be purchased, or certainly can't be purchased by the average jane. What is TB thinking for fall 09?

"My favorite piece for fall is ths soft white jacket with feather detail ... the skinny leather pants I love ... every look in [this collection] I would wear myself."

Badgley Mischka's Fall 2009 collection embraced more of the traditional darker colors for fall and winter with blacks, bordeaux and ultramarine with some bright crimson and teal pieces thrown in for good measure. Eveningwear was featured prominently and accented with some fabulous accessories. We were backstage before the show getting an up-close look at the shoes and jewelry that really helped Badgley Mischka's designs sparkle.

Cole Haan unveils spring 09 Maria Sharapova campaign

Maria Sharipova Cole Haan.jpg

Who better to launch a sporting collection than Maria Sharapova? I'm sure that's what Cole Haan figured when they cast her as the star of their spring 2009 campaign.

The ads were shot in Malibu by Martyn Thompson, and extends the relationship between Cole Haan and Nike, the maker of their comfort shoe technology.

"The campaign marks the first time Cole Haan has collaborated with a Nike athlete to serve as the face of a new collection," notes Cole Haan Chief Marketing Officer Michael Capiraso. "We are able to leverage her interest in fashion and sport, while connecting with our consumer in a new and unique way."

Sarah Ruba rocks the latest 'Get Chucked' campaign

With Converse sneakers being even more ubiquitous in music than in the general population, it fits that Sarah Ruba from New Look stars in the latest "Get Chucked" campaign from Converse by John Varvatos.

The ads were shot by Kieron O'Connor and have a rock and roll vibe about them, perfect for pawning the shoes.

"This campaign is about characters and their personalities," Varvatos told Fashion Week Daily. "Converse has always been about expressing yourself, and we have fully embraced that ideal here. Our latest 'Get Chucked' series goes to the heart of both brands. We're inspired by art, music and collaboration, and this campaign directly reflects the idealism of the 'downtown' loft mood, be it Manhattan, London or Tokyo."

Bargain Pick of the Week: Urban Outfitters lace skimmer

Lace skimmer BOTW.jpg

Sometimes we fudge it on shoes, but these Urban Outfitters lace skimmers are a bona fide bargain at $19.99.

We love evening flats, they're so versatile. Their lack of heel instantly makes them appropriate for a variety of casual outfits, but they're just as cocktail party chic with a LBD. Or, stash them in your purse and you won't be stuck in a sequin party frock and flip flops on your walk home.

Plus, a rubber sole? Hello Valentine, be mine!

The affects of Givenchy's fall 08 chain dresses are still being felt, so you can find something like this Forever 21 chain trim tunic, $19.80, everywhere. It's perfect for pairing with Goldsign's super-stretchy Misfit slim leg jeans, $218. Thanks to 35% four-way stretch, the denim is likened to the feel of leggings. And what to wear with your dark wash skinny jeans but a tough-chic bootie. We chose Steve Madden's Slasssh bootie, $199.95, even though we're generally opposed to open-toed boots in winter. But, what better way to show off the new Chanel nail colors we're all coveting? Top it all off with this Jimmy Choo Eva leather clutch, $1,170 to remind everyone you've got class.
