When it came to brilliant, inspired collections this year, no one and absolutely no one did it quite as well as Canadian-bred fashion house Erdem. When you think of the iconic dresses to have emerged this year, one of the first to pop into your head will absolutely be his floor length digital-printed gown from his Autumn/Winter collection, which was startlingly pretty in an unusual mix of deep browns, inky blacks, teal and colour-bursts of red. It’s been worn by A-listers to countless red carpet events since. Add into the mix a gorgeous blend of sheer chiffon, swallow-prints and dark leather, and you’ve got one of the most original approaches to Autumn/Winter dressing for a long time.

This year Erdem were also at the root of this year’s lace trend, which continues to go strong into the new year. For their A/W collections their dresses and blouses came in wintery colours -soft blue-grey ruffles and pleats were the Erdem way to wear lace this winter. They then showed us how to carry the fabric from winter to next Spring, sending frothy white Victorian-esque lace down the runway with bold crimson embroidery creeping up the hemline. A very pretty way to wear lace indeed.

We can’t wait for next spring when the sun starts to peep out behind the clouds, just for our Spring wardrobes alone. We may not be able to afford the real thing, but Erdem’s white lace and cool green floral prints have given us some food for thought.

10. Danni Minogue

It's been a good year for Danni as she's been voted the most fashionable judge for the X Factor, completely trouncing the once-unbeatable Cheryl Cole in the style stakes. We've tuned in every Saturday to check out which gravity-defying updo she's been rocking and which designer gown she's got on - our favourite was the Victoria Beckham dress.

As Christmas literally looms over us (4 days, arrgh) and 2011 doesn’t seem so distant anymore, we at Shiny are continuing to look back over the past year – who’s triumphed, who’s been a flop and who’s 2010′s heroes. Following the top 5 runway collections of 2010 and the year’s top 10 fashion moments, here is our countdown’s of this year’s most fashionable stars. Will they continue to shine next year, or will someone new steal their crown? Leave your comments below and let us know what you think.

ShinyStyle’s top 10 fashion moments of 2010

By Andrea Petrou on December 16th, 2010

By Emily Borrett.

As the end of the year draws to a close and we start looking forward to the beginning of 2011, we’ve decided to do a little reminiscing over the past year. Who’s designed the best collections, who’s worn what, who’s launched this and whose names we should know. Below is the top 10 countdown of our favourite all-time fashion moments over 2010, the ones that we think have been the most important. Check it out below.

10. Lady Gaga's infamous meat dress

Whether you loved it or hated it, the meat outfit that Gaga wore to the VMAs this year certainly got people talking. Her choice of dress material raised severe criticism from animal rights groups such as PETA - her claim that the message of the outfit was that she was "not a piece of meat" was met with some cynicism. Was she being avant-garde, or just extreme for the sake of extreme?

A/W trend alert: Biker jackets

By Andrea Petrou on August 31st, 2010

With the days turning and the wind picking up, plus tomorrow officially becoming autumn, it’s time to start packing away those bikinis, shorts and dresses and getting into the autumn fashion.

There’s a great deal to be excited about this season. The 80s trend is sticking around, puff sleeves will be making a comeback (as demonstrated by Paul Costelloe) and of course there’s the camel colours we can look forward to.

However, one trend that we’re really pleased is here to stay from the summer is the leather biker jacket. Worn by celebs such as Rihanna and Taylor Momsen, this jacket will form a staple part of any girls wardrobe for the first few months and thanks to Burberry’s fur and aviation trend, into the winter too.

We’ve picked out our favourite five.

Emmys best dressed: Eva Longoria, Claire Danes, Anna Paquin and Lea Michelle

By Andrea Petrou on August 31st, 2010

It was a star studded night on Sunday as celebrities hit the red carpet for the 62nd Emmy Awards, and we’re pleased to say there wasn’t a bad frock in sight.

Glee star Lea Michelle wowed in a stunning Oscar de la Renta mermaid dress, complete with ruffles and a sweetheart neckline, while reality TV star Kim Kardashian sparkled in a white floaty Marchesa Grecian gown, which she teamed up with a loose updo. Heidi Klum also opted for this designer, but unlike Kim, she went for  a black mini frock, which showed off those super toned pins.
True Blood star Anna Paquin kept it smart and gave a nod to the 50s in an avant garde Alexander McQueen dress, and even Tina Fey, whose style can be somewhat, iffy, stepped up looking lovely in a fitted funky print Oscar de la Renta frock. Mad Max starlet Christina Hendricks stood out in a purple chiffon frock complete with feather detailed sleeves by Zac Posen and Brit babe Emily Blunt also channelled this colour with a cute asymmetric long dress complete with jewel detailing.

January Jones, who is well known for her quirky style, didn’t disappoint with an electric-blue Versace frock with Madonna-style cone-bra cups and a mullet skirt, while Claire Danes looked sophisticated in a sparkly Armani Prive straight frock.
Black was also a trend for a few celebrities with both Eva Longoria and Kelly Osbourne opting for sleek, yet sophisticated black mermaid frocks in this staple colour.
