Milan Fashion Week: D&G pipes up for plaid

By Andrea Thatcher on February 19th, 2008

If you haven’t picked up on it yet, plaid is going to be big for fall. Preppy plaid, plaid tartan, 90′s grunge plaid, it has all had its place on the runway. And it all had its place on one single runway in the D&G show yesterday, with about 90% of the pieces shown featuring some sort of loud plaid print.

Dolce & Gabanna took a very English countryside aesthetic and made it a bit more flowy and feminine and, well, Italian. This would be a great collection to choose a few pieces from to update your fall wardrobe with the checked trend, even if we wouldn’t suggest the head-to-toe looks on the catwalk.

London Fashion Week: Henry Holland

By Andrea Thatcher on February 14th, 2008

henry2.jpg

As London Fashion Week reaches its midpoint, the Catwalk Queen girls are excited to catch the big name models finally starting to make their appearances. Yesterday’s Henry Holland show was obviously opened by Henry’s BFF/muse/flatmate Agyness Deyn, who was followed out by the fabulous Coco Rocha. This was Henry’s third collection, and he’s now well and truly escaped the one trick pony slogan t-shirts of past seasons. So, what did he have on offer today? Head over to Catwalk Queen to find out.

Go behind the scenes of a surpringly colorful Burberry ad

By Andrea Thatcher on January 9th, 2008

There’s so much action and silly scenes of models like Agyness Deyn and Lily Donaldson in this video of this shoot for a Burberry advertising campaign, we think we need to examine the still images to really get a handle on the clothes.

To follow our lead, check out the images over on Catwalk Queen.

British Fashion Awards: Red carpet roundup

By Andrea Thatcher on November 28th, 2007

british%20fashion%20awards.jpgTrue to her exquisite fashion, Agyness Deyn owned the red carpet last night in a black Giles floor-length with ragged train, partially sheer gown at the British Fashion Awards in London. Wearing a single black cuff, she looked amazing from her hair to her toes as she took home the award for model of the year. Kelly Osbourne also looked great in a one-shoulder strap wine-colored satin dress with train. It doesn’t look as good as the champagne dress she wore to the British Television Awards, but it’s a close second. Keep it up, Kelly! To see more celebrity styles on the red carpet at the BTA’s, check out the reviews on Catwalk Queen.

Model citizen: Agyness Deyn

By Andrea Thatcher on October 26th, 2007

agynessmontage.jpg
Called “the next Kate Moss” by many fashion insiders, British model Agyness Deyn has quickly caught the eye of the industry. The former fish-and-chip shop girl now sports cropped peroxide hair and is featured in ads for Burberry and Armani. Born in Littleborough, England in 1986 (although many blogs argue the veracity of that date), she met trendy designer Henry Holland, of “Get Yer Freak on Giles Deacon” slogan shirt fame, when they were still unknown fashion lovers. Deyn, born Laura Hollins, won a teen modeling competition at thirteen but decided to hold off on her career in order to finish school. She moved to London with Holland, where she was scouted by a photographer and shortly after signed with an agency. Early in her career, Deyn was advised to lose weight, but she refused.

Preen spring/summer ’08 dress on Agyness Deyn

By Andrea Thatcher on September 13th, 2007

I fell in love with this Preen dress, worn by model Agyness Deyn, after I saw it on Shiny Style’s sister site Catwalkqueen.tv. Their spring/summer collection shown during New York’s fashion week was the London-based fashion house’s American debut. The silvery grey dress above was definitely a show-stopping number. Featuring an incredibly original mixture of futuristic deconstruction with a silky luxurious spin, we can only hope Preen enjoyed their trip to the States, and will set up shop this side of the pond.

Agyness Deyn at Fashion Week

By Elaine LaPersonerie on September 7th, 2007

Check out Agyness Deyn at Fashion Week in NYC. She is a British model and also the current face of Mulberry along with fellow Brit Karen Elson. I love her hot pink dress and her hair is amazing. Let’s be frank, not many people can pull off the platinum blonde, supper messy, rocker chick hair without looking silly. I would love to know who makes her dress…anyone know? Otherwise, I’ll have to do some research.

Yay or Nay: Suspenders

By Andrea Thatcher on July 25th, 2007

Agyness.jpg

Suspenders. They’re cute on the very young – think your toddler cousin in his best OshKosh B’Gosh – and the very old – Santa. But what about those in between? Does model Agyness Deyn pull of the look, above, at the British Fashion Council Fashion Forward party? It certainly is fashion forward, and works for Deyn’s lythe frame with the vintage shirt and slim Preen trousers. And hey, it got her on Vogue’s best dressed list. Have you tried to rock the look? Let us know if you love it or hate it and why in the comments below.
