Emily Blunt loves the evocative smell of YSL Opium

Emily Blunt agreed to become the face and ambassadress for Yves Saint Laurent’s Opium fragrance because fragrances “evoke” so many memories for people.

The ‘Devil Wears Prada’ actress will star in the new TV and print campaigns for the “evocative” scent – which was created by perfumer Jean-Louis Sieuzac in 1977 – and Emily revealed she loves fragrances because scent is so important to her.

She explained to People: “I think really that’s what I love most about it – it evokes so much for people. Everyone always says they’ve smelled something, and remember this beautiful memory they experienced maybe many years ago. There’s something very powerful about it.”

Emily’s new advertising campaign for the brand – where she plays a woman on the hunt for the Opium fragrance – will air in December and Emily revealed she was thrilled to play a role rather than simply pose with the product.

She said: “It was thrilling. I was given a story to play, and for me as an actress that’s very exciting. I’m not just posing or just trying to sell something.”

Speaking about the perfume previously she said: “”It is a really exciting experience to embody this legendary fragrance, which has stood the test of time without its allure ever being diminished. Being a part of this new campaign and being able to tell the story of this very evocative fragrance is a real thrill.”

Renaud de Lesquen, president of YSL & Designer Brands, explained the new campaign will portray “a fiery, almost reckless woman with magnetic seduction, that nobody or nothing can resist”.

He added: “Opium embraces the whole history and values of our house.”

The curvy beauty is set to become the face of Emporio Armani underwear and Armani jeans for Autumn/Winter 2011-12, and you can check out the steamy photos for the new campaign right here in the gallery above. How good does Ri-Ri look in these photos?

Emma Stone bags a Revlon contract

The actress Emma Stone, along with Cowboys and Aliens star Olivia Wilde, is set to become the next global ambassador for the iconic cosmetics brand, Revlon.

You won’t see our favourite American redhead as the face of Revlon until 2012, but when the campaigns finally hit, her face along with Olivia’s will be all over magazines, TV and the internet.

Previous women to have represented Revlon include Kate Moss, Jessica Biel and Halle Berry – so we hope Emma is feeling pretty good about herself right now.

Gucci Westman, the artistic director of Revlon, explained the brand’s new choice of ambassador: “Both embody strength, beauty and femininity. Emma is so classic in a Grace Kelly real movie star way and she is an amazing actress as well. Olivia has the most unbelievably beautiful eyes and she is also cool and intelligent. I cannot wait for everyone to see our new Revlon campaigns.”

S&M singer Rihanna named a tourism ambassador for Caribbean island of Barbados

Rihanna has been named a tourism ambassador for Barbados.

The S&M singer – who was born on the Caribbean island – has joined forces with the country’s tourism authority because she wants people to experience the “spirit and warmth” of her fellow Barbadians.

Rihanna said: “Barbados is a place like no other and one of the reasons for this is the spirit and national pride of our people. I want each and every visitor to this beautiful island to experience what makes this destination different from all others and that is the spirit and warmth of my fellow Barbadians.”

In addition to promoting Barbados worldwide, the 23-year-old singer will kick off her duties by bringing her ‘Loud’ tour to her hometown of Bridgetown in August.

The Barbados Tourism Authority said: “We are proud to announce that musical sensation and social phenomenon Rihanna has partnered with the Barbados Tourism Authority as an exclusive promotional partner for three years. Celebrate this amazing announcement today by joining us on August 5 as she brings her ‘Loud’ tour to Bridgetown, Barbados, her homeland.”

When it comes to making or breaking a star’s fashion legacy, Chanel mastermind Karl Lagerfeld is the man who makes it happen. A true fashion phenomenon throughout the world- who couldn’t recognise that snow-haired, be-gloved satorialist from a  hundred paces? – he has a gift for plucking out actresses, singers and models from modest, slightly obscure fame and launching them into fashion superstardom.

We’ve all seen Keira Knightley’s flawless pout as the face of Coco Madamoiselle, and Lily Allen’s performance, clad head-to-toe in Chanel, smack-bang in the middle of a catwalk. Most recently to become an ambassador for France’s chicest fashion house is Blake Lively, who’s just had a handbag designed in her name. Bloody cow. Milla Jovovich has been named as the new face of jeweller Jacob and Co

Milla Jovovich has been named as the new face of jeweller Jacob and Co.

The model-and-actress – who previously had her own fashion label, Jovovich-Hawk, with catwalk beauty Carmen Hawk – was unveiled as the new ambassador for the Swiss brand at a cocktail reception at Baselworld, the annual watch and jewellery tradeshow in Switzerland.

Jacob & Co. is a luxury watch and diamond jewellery house, founded over 25 years ago by Jacob Arabo and is best known for its five time zone watches.

Jacob said: “We have been looking for the right personality and beauty that represents what I call; ‘The Jacob Girl’, she is a sophisticated world traveller, self accomplished and exudes an assertive feminine personality, lastly, she is absolutely gorgeous!”

Milla was decked out in diamonds – provided by Jacob and Co. for the occasion – and joked it was not a new occurrence for her.

She said: “Well, it’s not much. This ring is $20 million. This bracelet is probably $10 million. Necklace is about, I don’t know, 6.5. The earrings are 10. No big deal.”

Katy Perry becomes face of ghd

Katy Perry has been named as the face of ghd.

The ‘Firework’ singer is the hair styling brand’s new global ambassador and will promote a range of products – including their sought-after hair straighteners – in a new campaign, shot by renowned photographer David LaChapelle.

The iconic British brand has also signed to become an International Tour Sponsor for Katy’s forthcoming ‘California Dreams 2011′ tour, and plans to involve its talented professional hair stylist ambassadors in concert-related events throughout the world.

Katy said of her new role: “I’m so excited to be working with ghd, especially using their tools on my ‘California Dreams’ tour to get me stage ready. ghd products have a reputation of being the best products in the biz, and I like being associated with that. I’m very excited to reveal the styles I did with legendary David LaChapelle in the upcoming ghd campaign. Keep your eyes peeled for it!”
