Tyra Banks gets up three hours early so she has time to work out and put on her make-up.
The 37-year-old model-and-television presenter is currently studying at Harvard Business School and admitted she rises at 4.45am in order to get ready to meet her study group at 7.30am every morning.
She explained: “I have to work out and eat breakfast beforehand and get ready and be a female. But in the end, I never would have had it any other way. I have made life-long friends among my classmates.”
Meanwhile the busy entrepreneur has today (15.03.11) launched her own beauty and style website, TypeF, where women can input their vital statistic and every time they log on, are greeted with content matched to their physical characteristics
Tyra explained to USA Today: “We decided to keep a blank slate for women to fill in what that F means to them. It’s done with humor and fun. It’s a very specific voice. TypeF is saying, ‘No, you are good enough. You deserve to wear that trend too.’”
There’s probably not a fashionista on this earth who hasn’t heard of America’s
Next Top Model and that’s all thanks to clever lady and ex-model Tyra Banks.
The star who has launched the shows which now run across the world and has her own US talk show, has decided that she now wants to tell the world a little bit more about the modelling world. She has penned the first book in fantasy based trilogy, which she has creatively called Modelland.
The fantasy book is the story of a teen girl in a make-believe society who finds herself competing for a way of life that’s both hotly desired and woefully out of reach at an academy for Intoxibellas, the most exceptional models known to humankind. As the plot unfolds, readers will uncover lessons that are buried beneath the surface of this magical world.
Sounds interesting but we hardly think it’s going to be Twilight or chic lit worthy.
CoverGirl is a brand we have recently been associated with America’s Next Top Model after Tyra Banks tells the contenders every single week that one of their prizes will be a contract with the brand.
However, it seems that a CoverGirl model is more than just a NTM, she’s also a celebrity too.
Joining the celebrity CoverGirl brigade, which currently includes Rihanna and Drew Barrymore, is Taylor Swift who has described her new role as “a dream come true.”
Swift has just finished shooting her first ads, which will debut in January, and she will represent a new line of luxury products for the brand.
“I am so excited to become the next CoverGirl,” the singer said. “I have admired many of the CoverGirls since I was a little girl . . . great artists and actresses who are confident and still themselves. It’s like a dream come true to be a part of the future of CoverGirl.”

Has Paulina Porizkova become just another victim of the global economic crisis? That is what Tyra Banks is citing after the Czech model was fired as judge on America’s Next Top Model. The only problem is that Paulina doesn’t quite see it that way.
She revealed on the Late Late Show that she was fired because it was suggested that she had a big ego. She then insinuated on Access Hollywood that behind-the-scenes Tyra is a diva, who was consistently late to set and only spoke to her in front of the cameras. Now, Tyra has responded to the claims by releasing the following statement:
“The current state of the economy has forced shows to make major budget cuts industry wide. America’s Next Top Model is not immune to these financially challenging times. We’ve had to make significant cuts in every area of the production and, unfortunately, Paulina was a casualty of these cuts.”
This is unbelievable! Chaos erupted at the New York auditions for America’s Next Top Model on Saturday. The trouble began when a car overheated and blew smoke, causing someone to cry out “There’s a bomb!” This prompted thousands of model hopefuls to become trampled in a stampede and a fight breaking out amongst the crowd. Two women and a man were arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and inciting a riot, and six women required medical attention. Others claimed bad organisation and the inability to leave the queue to go to the toilet and get food was also to blame. The audition was shut down, however neither Tyra Banks or ANTM reps have commented. Click play on video above to watch the chaos unfold.
Aftrican American Fatima, blonde Hawiian Anya, and full-figured Whitney might be the most diverse final three ANTM has featured. Each one could appeal to Seventeen and to CoverGirl in a different way.
This week America’s Next Top Model took full advantage of all the Rome tourism board had to offer with a gladiator-themed shoot among the city’s ruins. The girls met with mixed success. Whitney who I really like but doesn’t often take the best pictures, won the photo shoot challenge and got to split some shopping prize money with Anya.
No surprise she didn’t choose Fatima, who’s head has blown up with every compliment she receives from the judges. She obviously thinks she’s the best, and I guess the judges agree since she’s been first two weeks in a row.
Not Milan – the fashion capital of Italy and the home of one of the most important fashion weeks in the world – but Rome. Why not hop one city North, Tyra?
But alas. For more on what happened in what is admittedly the more culturally rich Italian city – also weird for the vapid ANTM – keep reading.
Were you as bummed as we were when hippie-mama Claire Unabia was booted off America’s Next Top Model? Well maybe this interview she did with TV Guide will help.
Keep reading for drunk confessions, “priceless” breast milk incidents, and explanations of some of the cattiness with Dominique (no explanation needed, girlfriend).
