What happens when two star studded events happen at the same time? We get lots of red carpet frocks to swoon over.
That’s exactly whats happened this week with celebrities turning up for both the US Weekly hosts annual Hot Hollywood Style Issue event and the Times 100 Most Influential People in the World Gala.
Blake Lively kick started the glamness turning up to the latter event in a gorgeous pale blue chiffon wrap dress. However most noticeable with this starlet was her new red locks, which were styled into stunning waves. Also shining at the event was Anna Kendrick who went for a 50s style black frock, and Kerry Washington in a purple satin maxi frock.
Over at the US Weekly hosts annual Hot Hollywood Style Issue event Paris Hilton went for a black frock, while Whitney Port stood out in a stunning shimmering short number. Jessica Simpson also tried her hand at the fringing trend, but we’re sorry to say not very well.

Anna Kendrick is one of the Twilight starlets who has been out shadowed by Kristen Stewart but she’s a fashion icon in her own right.
The star who plays popular girl Jessica in the films has never put a fashion foot out of place turning up to events in gorgeous dresses ranging from sassy and short to elegant ball gown. And she’s also right up to date with her designers.
She wore a stunning Elie Saab couture gown to this years Oscars and an Emilio Pucci short frock to the BAFTAs. However, unlike many of the starlets who hit the red carpet Jessica’s style can easily be copied, especially her short frocks which when toned down with a pair of flats can be a perfect summer evening outfit.
We’ve put together some of her red carpet dresses with some highstreet suggestions, which you can wear on a night out or to a summer BBQ.
We all know what it’s like to have a last-minute outfit crisis (read about my own dress failures here), but few of us have the pressure of the Oscars to contend with.So we felt for poor Anna Kendrick when we heard that she had a wardrobe disaster only a few days before the cermony.
The Up in the Air star, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress, revealed that she was forced to find a whole new outfit this week, when her special couture dress failed to live up to expectations. “There was another dress that was being made,” Kendrick said. “The designer will remain nameless… It was not for me. It was blue.”
Had she stuck with the original dress she would have been in good company, with Mariah Carey and Maggie Gyllenhaal among the stars who also chose blue. But as it was, we thought the actress was one of the most memorable attendees, picking upon this season’s nude trend with her beautiful blush-pink chiffon gown. Not too bad for something you threw on at the last minute, Anna…
It was a micro-trend at last year’s awards, and this year even more stars are saying ‘I do’ to dresses in white, ivory and sugared-almond shades. Whether it’s a nod to this winter’s unseasonably snowy weather, or a series of not-so-subtle hints to noncommittal boyfriends, bridal looks were all over tonight’s red carpet.
Best actress nominee Sandra Bullock pulled it off like a true leading lady, with exquisite beaded vintage fabric and sweet pink lips, while Up in the Air star Anna Kendrick was a vision in palest pink.
A little less successful, however, was Amanda Seyfried‘s meringue – we can only assume the actress seems to have took reference from her starring role in musical wedding romp Mamma Mia when choosing this Armani Prive gown. The quilted satin fabric saves it from true Princess Barbie territory, but alongside so many chic column gowns and flirty ruffles it still comes off a little like the lady your Granny puts on top of her loo roll.
