For the ultimate in shoe eye candy, you can't go wrong with these sparkle-dusted flats from Miss KG.

Thanks to the Black Swan phenomenon that’s had absolutely everyone talking, fashion is all about ballet right now. From costume-esque ornate ruffles and adornment at Marchesa and sweet, sugary colours at Stella McCartney, ballet has never been so hot. However, being a ballerina is really really hard (I’ve been doing ballet workouts at home and think I may never walk again), but dressing like one is really very easy and perfect for this spring.

The real, traditional dancer shoes are both painful (or so I’ve heard) and not practical for traipsing up and down the shops in, but ballet flats are. We all own a pair, but with fashion’s obsession with clogs, wedges and skyscraping heels recently we may not have been showing ours as much love as they deserve. After all, they’re our best friend after a long night out in stilettos- we wouldn’t be able to manage the walk of shame home without them. So we’ve searched the high street and found our top 5 favourite ballerina flats out at the moment, ranging from luxurious designer ones to basic failsafe ones. Check them out in the gallery above.

Even the most dedicated high heel devotee knows it’s wise to always have a cute pair of flats on hand.

Well how about a cute pair that’s also a classic, a legend among flats? Like this Repetto ballet flat. Similar pairs would run you around $160 new and this seller says these originally cost $189. These are a size 38 and fit like a 7-1/2 to an 8.

The auction ends tomorrow, and the bidding is currently up to $10.50 so chances are you’ll get a deal.

More Ballet Flats? Yay or Nay?

With another season of ballet flats, our pirouettes should be stellar! Well, newsflash: mine aren’t. I never got into them, really. But I did find a cute selection online at Delia’s—particularly flannel, that are available in navy plaid (as shown) red plaid, solid grey and oatmeal. And the price is right—US$29. I would throw them on with opaque leggings and an oversized sweater (and maybe a belt) or with one of this season’s hottest trends—a pencil skirt. Flats are certainly more preferable for walking around an office around all day. But then again, our girly figures always seem better presented in heels—taller and longer! So what do you think—should I start tutu shopping and let ballet flats into my life? Yay or Nay and why?
