Yesterday, designers Jason Wu and Isabel Toledo – two folks who have become household names overnight – appeared on the Today show to talk Michelle Obama. At one end of the spectrum we have Wu, who at 26-year-old designed the ivory one-shoulder gown that the new First Lady wore at the inaugural ball. While on the other hand, we have 48-year-old Cuban-born Toledo, who has 25 years of experience behind her, and whose lemongrass sparkly suit was also selected by Mrs Obama to wear to the swearing-in ceremony. Hear what their reactions were to seeing their creations be part of history, by clicking the video above.
Like the millions descending on the nations capital for Barack Obama’s inauguration on Tuesday, the Obamas and Bidens had to dress warm in chilling temperatures on their Whistle-stop tour from Philadelphia to Washington D.C. this weekend. Barack Obama wore a dark navy custom suit by Hart Schaffner Marx.
While we’re not sure what designers the Bidens were wearing, we appreciate their use of bright color! Very optimistic.
Without a doubt, the run-up to the presidential election has been very fashion-focussed. From Michelle Obama’s high street wardrobe, to Sarah Palin’s $150,000 wardrobe and trademark ‘updo’, image has paid an integral part on proceedings. Zac Posen has jumped on the bandwagon, with this 15-second video asking people to vote for Barack Obama. The film was released on fashionthevote.org – where Zac wants voters to send him pictures of what they’ll be wearing to the polls today. If you haven’t voted yet, what are you doing reading this? Go and make yourself heard!
Cindy McCain overtook Michelle Obama as the more stylish potential First Lady in a poll conducted by E-Poll Market Research. Thirty-six percent of respondents said McCain was stylish, while only 28 percent said the same about Michelle Obama.
Jackie Kennedy came in first, naturally, with 48 percent, and Hillary Clinton was at number 10 with only 7 percent of people saying she had style.
