Top five Asos summer sale bargains under £20

By Andrea Petrou on August 22nd, 2012

We’re continuing the bargain theme today and this time we’ve set our sites on Asos, which has some great summer sale items.

As we said yesterday it’s worth keeping an eye out on these little gems, which can be great for the AW 2012 season, and Asos is a great example of this with items for next season being slashed.

We heart the knitted scarf which has been reduced from £19 to £10, while a Houndstooth Peplum top, knocked down to £15 is a great item for your office wardrobe.

See the gallery below for our top five picks.

Primark SS 2012 collection

By Andrea Petrou on May 29th, 2012

Let’s face it, with the fickle British summer weather we sometimes don’t want to spend all our hard earned pennies on clothes that may only see the light of day once or twice.

That’s why we heart Primark’s latest collection.

Going back to budget basics, the cheap and cheerful highstreet store has come up with a range of summer lovelies to keep us going through to the autumn season.

Pick from cute and girly playsuits or smarter straight skirts for that hot day in the office. And if you’re planning a week away then why not grab a bargain bikini while you’re there too.

See our top five faves in the gallery below.

eBay, the UK’s leading online marketplace, is unveiling a new fashion advertising campaign to promote its Fashion Outlet.

The autumn-winter adverts will feature fashion items from some of the leading brands that sell through the site, including House of Fraser, Office and La Redoute, Joe Browns and Very Clearance.

The campaign strapline, “The clothes you love direct from the brands you love”, reflects the growing number of high-street retailers that use eBay to reach to the site’s 96 million users across the globe. The sale of in-season stock on eBay’s Fashion Outlet, has secured shoe retailer Office, 50,000 new customers.

Outdoor ads will appear on buses, billboards and in stations in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, Liverpool and Sheffield from 3rd October, lasting two weeks.

Print activity will start on 4th October, with ads in women’s weekly lifestyle magazines, including Grazia, Hello and More, and in early November for women’s monthly magazines, such as Marie Claire and Glamour.

eBay’s Fashion Outlet launched in April last year, and now hosts over 100 fashion brands and 30 high-street stores including Superdry, Bench, Ted Baker and Jigsaw, offering shoppers the best deals and discounts on new, branded goods up to 70% off.

Miriam Lahage, VP of Fashion for eBay said: “We’re attracting growing numbers of shoppers to our Fashion category as consumers want to choose from a huge selection of products, from the brands they know and love, at great prices. Dame Vivienne Westwood is a believer in “quality rather than quantity” when it comes to clothes.

By Andrea Petrou on May 12th, 2011

Dame Vivienne Westwood is a believer in “quality rather than quantity” when it comes to clothes.

The legendary designer says it’s important for people to understand how dangerous it is to the world’s climate for lots of items of clothing to be thrown away so has urged consumers to be sensible when it comes to their purchases.

She revealed to Britain’s Marie Claire magazine: “What I’m really saying is, buy less and choose well. I would like quality rather than quantity. I don’t believe growth is OK if it means one man’s advantage is another man’s disadvantage. I try to concentrate on quality clothing and accessories that are worth having, and to get my people to take less trips by air and stay longer each time they travel. It’s more human, especially if they take time to visit an art gallery while there.”

Vivienne is also encouraging people to make their own clothes as the items will always be something that is unique to them.

She said: “I’m promoting the idea of ‘do it yourself’. Make your own T-shirt by putting a picture in a plastic sleeve and pinning it on. Whatever!”

Mischa Barton refuses to spend lots of money on a trendy handbag

By Andrea Petrou on April 12th, 2011

Mischa Barton refuses to spend lots of money on a trendy handbag.

The actress – who has her own line of bags – says she doesn’t see the point in splashing out on a “handbag-of-the moment” and would rather save her cash for a classic item.

She said: “I think handbags are a great area to work in because you can do anything with them. They can really change an outfit. You always look at girls’ bags and you don’t want to spend a fortune on them. You want them to be functional, have pockets and work, but you don’t want it to be a piece of c**p. I don’t want to spend a fortune on crazy of-the-moment handbags. If it’s going to cost me like $600 to get a handbag of-the-moment then I’m probably not even going to bother to do it. I just have my classics that I like.”

Mischa believes the success of her handbag line is due to the fact a lot of the pieces are stylish yet affordable.

She told online blog Zap2it: “I think what really works for them is that we’re really able to keep the price point quite low, but still funky and cool. Some of them are not supposed to last forever. They’re more like fun bags, and then we have the more serious ones. We’ve been working on the proper like, doctor bags, the ones that do last a long time.”

Trend Alert: Top five bodysuits

By Andrea Petrou on June 29th, 2010

Bodysuits have been lurking around for a good few months as trends begin to emulate the 80s and all the great bits of style the era symbolised.

They’ve been shown on every spring/summer 2010 catwalk show imaginable from Burberry to Vivienne Westwood and also sported on dozens of celebs including Lady Gaga (although we don’t recommend this style as a daytime look), Cheryl Cole and Miley Cyrus.

Now we’re not recommending you walk around in just one of these, unless of course you’re feeling daring, instead the best way to wear a bodysuit is tucked into jeans, shorts, or a short floral skirt for that perfect summer look. We take a look at the best five out there on the highstreet.

The Fashion Pixie bargain hunting website asks the public for help

By Andrea Petrou on December 4th, 2009

shopping.jpgAre you a bargain hunting shopaholic who likes to tell everyone about all the great deals you get? Well now you can spread the word further than your Twitter and Facebook page.

The FashionPixie, is a new site, which is updated daily to alert women to sales from all retailers by compiling the best deals on one website. And it’s looking for people to help gather this information. You’ll be able to submit the latest deals via links on the home page telling everyone where the best sales are on the highstreet and online.

Nicole Snape. a representative for the The Fashion Pixie, said: “There are a huge number of discounts, special offers and sales available throughout the country and, as we all know, the secret of savvy bargain-hunting is to stay ahead of the crowds so it is essential that our community provides up-to-the-minute information.

“As well as our network of regular contributors who will be visiting shops and High Streets in cities throughout the UK and trawling websites and emails, we are also relying on dedicated fashion pixies nationwide to feed us any bargain news they come across which we can then share with the rest of our community.”

If you think you’ve got what it takes to help, log onto the site now, we’ll be keeping an eye out on what you suggest, purely for research purposes you understand.
