By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on June 18th, 2008

Bride Wars Kate Hudson Anne Hathaway copy.jpg

A film tax credit has lured film projects and shoppers alike to Boston, it seems.

Mays and her co-workers have splurged at Marc Jacobs, Envi, Calypso and Gretta Luxe all in Boston, and the movie’s costume designer, Ellen Lutter, spent more than $100,000 locally.

Nordstrom gets closer to having a Manhattan location

By Andrea Thatcher on November 1st, 2007

Nordstrom.jpgThe former Drake hotel, on Park Avenue and 56th Street may be the new location for Nordstrom’s first Manhattan retail store as Nordstrom Inc. signs a nonbinding letter of intent for the space. Although that particular part of Park Avenue doesn’t contain many retailers, the location is promising, as it’s not too far from the 57th Street slew of upscale retailers, as well as Bloomingdales on 59th Street and Lexington and Barneys New York on Madison Avenue between 60th and 61st Streets.

Falling in love: Marc Jacobs Mix Quilted Tote at Barneys New York

By Andrea Thatcher on October 29th, 2007

Marc%20Jacobs%20bag.jpg

Brown bags aren’t always the ones that catch our eye, but we have noticed the way they catch the light. Sometimes a brown bag looks more luxe than a blag bag in an online photo because of the way you can see the materials and details more clearly. So imagine how sophisticated the black (or cognac!) versions of this Marc Jacobs Mix Quilted Tote must be in person. At $1,495 the bag features my favorite things – soft leather, quilting, and chain handles. This definitely goes on my fantasy Christmas list.

More Moss: Simon Doonan dishes on Kate Moss’s Topshop office manner

By Andrea Thatcher on October 15th, 2007

Kate%20Moss%20topshop.jpg In his latest edition of Barneys Babble, Simon Doonan teases us with the knowledge of whether Kate Moss has a corner office or lowly cubicle at the Topshop head office in London. He never gives us the dirt on that question, but says Kate, shown here at the Kate Moss for Topshop Barneys New York launch, is very popular with Topshop employees (gee, go figure) and that she tries on every design for her line herself. Apparently she comes in weekly for meetings and goes on coffee runs for workers, which is nice since they’re probably chained to their desks working on her stuff while she can flit in and out as she pleases.
