New York Fashion Week Spring 2009: BCBG

By Andrea Thatcher on September 6th, 2008

BCBG 1.jpg

BCBG Max Azria was the second show of the day today, and the designer continued to offer fuctional pieces for womens’ everyday wardrobes. Expanding on the fluid silhouette of last season, BCBG went a little hipper and less ladylike with the shapes. And everything in jersey – dresses, long and short jumpsuits and pants. Truth be told, clingy jersey dresses just aren’t my thing. But Sharon just loved them (look out for some reviews from her next week!) so those more inclined to that sort of thing will probably be pleased. Check out more pics, and a video, for yourself after the jump, and let us know what you think in the comments!

New York Fashion Week: ladylike at BCBGMAXAZRIA

By Andrea Thatcher on February 1st, 2008

It’s only the first day of New York Fashion Week and already we’re seeing some of the predicted trends emerging. At BCBGMAXAZRIA the looks were ladylike, but in a less traditional way than we saw in fall 07. The lady has gone modern with her silhouette and is experimenting with new shapes.

While skirts were certainly short the overall feeling was more covered-up. Layering was done with fabrics in single pieces, not one piece over another over another over another.

As always, the colors and fabrics at BCBGMAXAZRIA were a treat. Different textures made for really interesting outfits. There was a lot to look at on each ensemble.

New York Fashion Week: BCBG Max Azria

By Andrea Thatcher on September 5th, 2007

Spring continues to be about a defined waist amidst a floaty, ethereal fabric at BCBG Max Azria as you can see in the video above. But, the shapes are much less boho and sloppy, and more ladylike with pleats and pintucking details at waists and sleeves. And anyone who told you the dress was over flat out lied And the pockets in those dresses? No longer hidden surprises, they are very deliberate and exaggerated. If this will look attractive on anyone but a model is yet to be seen. The colors were a bit drab, but it did make those pieces with a bit more saturated hue – some purples, blue, and metallic – pop.
